And jcu falls out of the Top 25...not really a surprise since they are 1-2 and just got ground-up by the Berg. But given everything that came back from last year - wow. I guess the surprise is that they haven't even looked competitive, other than against BW - which isn't saying much.

I agree Mounts D is the strength thus far. It concerns me only because the D has seen some lack of discipline by a few. I love the way Charlie Dear plays because he seems on the egde of losing control flying all over the place. However, he has crossed over a few times (personal foul against BW). As strong as the D has been - I have noticed quite a few lapses. Geat pressure with 4 or 5, QB slips the pressure and persuit- WHAM welcome to 20 yards of green up the middle. ot saying they missed assignments - but because of the way Mount pressures and persues - they can't afford a missed tackle, especially in space. Saw a few of those against Etta and BW that resulted in good yardage. At the end of the day its BW and Etta - they really lack the weapons to make you pay for it. Berg appears different. Those mistakes could be costly.

The run game looked really good yesterday. Petrucelli (in need a nickname) ran tough between the tackles. JEM not so much early. However, after standning on the sidelines and watching Petrucelli (really need a nickname) it was almost as if he had a "lightbulb" moment ('this freshman is taking my spot')because when he came back in 3rd qtr, he ran different. He hit the hole and kept going instead of hitting the hole and bracing for contact. He was hitting tacklers and taking 2 or 3 or bouncing it. He has to keep that up.

In terms of where this compares with other Mount teams....well I don't see a ring - yet.

Don't care - I am going with PETRuceLli - and adding an "O" for "Oh my god did he just hurdle that dude"? I am calling him PETROL - it makes the machine GO!

Does anybody know if BW backup Qb Matt Lowry is the same kid that saw some cleanup duty as a Frosh for Mount a  couple of years ago? If so when did he transfer?

Section13raiderfan,

Same player, not sure when he transferred and also how much eligibility he has left?

I think kdets said he transferred after baseball season (last year?). Kdets -  care to refresh? As far as eligibility...rumor has it Rocky Pentello is on speed dial - so maybe 7 or 8 years.  ;D

A. Lowery in at QB for BW...didn't he play for Mount 2 years ago?
B. WTF JCU?
Matt Lowry was a freshman QB who appeared in several games as a backup for Burke in 2015.  He was in camp last year, but quit a few weeks into the season.  Played for the baseball team in the spring before transferring.

That was quick.  D forces a punt and Fulford hits Ruth down the middle for a 65 yd score on the first play.

Already have offsetting personal fouls then a bonehead PF by E. Berry after a stop on 3rd down.  It's officially a BW/Mount game.

Mount making it look easy so far.  20-0 in the 1st. BW has shown very little in terms of slowing Mount down.  Petruccelli has 56 yds on 5 carries and a 32 yd catch.

Credit BW.  They've tightened up the defense in the 2nd.  Still 20-0.

Friss with a couple TD catches today.  34-0 early 3rd.

Petruccelli over 100 yds.  124 on 10 carries.

Former Raider backup QB Matt Lowry is in at QB for BW.

Well, well, well. I could have done that Pat...if I knew how to quote multiple times in a post. But I don't. Probably for the best - Thanks Pat.

BTW - Pat I posted a comment on here at like 11PM and you responded after midnight. A man of your age really should sleep once in a while  8-)

I'd love to sleep more. It's a busy/fun time of year, though.

Plus, I'm in Central time, so I am an hour behind the board clock.

The thing that really stood out to me watching the JCU/Berg game yesterday was the body language.  Berg was up for that game big time and it showed.  They were playing with some swagger.  JCU just seemed flat to me.  And honestly they looked that way against BW too.  I'm curious if the JCU posters agree?

Regardless, great win for Berg.  3-0 and those are no cupcake wins.  They have some dudes on offense.  I really like that Vocke kid.  Versatile.  He's playing RB, he's splitting out in the slot playing WR.  Their skill guys are problematic.

I absolutely agree 100%. I feel like it's beginning to show how much Arth brought to the table, and what exactly they lost. I was at the playoff games against both UWW and UWO last year, and you could tell the team legitimately thought no one could beat them. Haven't seem them play in person yet this year, but just watching online, they seem like they're just going through the motions. It is clear that there is something missing this year that last year's team had. There is still time to right the ship. The playoffs seem like a longshot this go-round, but that doesn't mean JCU needs to go the Capital route. Hopefully, they can write this year off as a setback, and maybe come back next year even stronger.
In the meantime, I think the Berg-Mount game looks like it could be very, very good this year! Berg was able to through one monkey off their backs, so maybe they'll get the other one off this year too.

I am more interested in the Berg game now than I was 3 weeks ago. However, I see a better Berg team playing a much improved Mount team from a year ago. Last year Mount was still very young (in terms of starting playing time) and had a rotation of FR QBs being helped by some veteran skill players (BJ, Hargrove, TK). This time around the QB issue seems settled, he is playing realy well, and the young guys have really matured (Hill, Friss, Ruth). In addition - the D has lost the deer in headlights look I saw alot last year. In other words - last year was 50-14 to inexperienced, young Mount. Both teams have gotten better - who got "more better"? ;D ;D Yep, I asked that - a graduate from an NCAC school! HA!

I'm surprised they are still receiving votes.  There are plenty of candidates who have yet to lose and haven't looked uninspired.  I get their schedule has been tough, but its the way they've looked.

Wow, congrats to Mount JV.  The hits just keep on coming. In that respect, I vote for "Bam Bam" for Petrucelli.  Lowry is the kid who played at Mount.  He had great wheels. The Mount D made him look not so good. Of course they are doing that to everyone so far.

What a great Saturday for D3 football in Minneapolis.  Hopefully there were fans there who  were seeing for the first time just how good and exciting D3 football can be. A great shout out to the fans for the unbelievable turnout.  This was a banner day for the entire D3 community.

This joke is officially older than the amount of time Rocky Pentello played college football.  But just barely.
