Mount 58-7.  Berg will not be able to cover any of the Mount WR.  Double Ruth, Hill will kill.  Double Hill, Ruth will roll.  Cover all of the deep routes, Friss will destroy the underneath.  The Raiders are champing at the bit for a "big game."  Berg would have been better off if Mount killed ONU 70-0.

Mount may score that much, but I feel like the Berg will get at least 35 points. They've looked on point this year on offense!

If Berg puts up 35, Mount should just turn in their jerseys and pack up for the year

Merlecanlas – you obviously haven't seen Heidelberg play yet this year. The biggest reason Heidelberg is 4 -0 is because of their secondary, and as far as receiving corps go, Heidelberg has a pretty good group of receivers too, maybe the best in D3. This game will not be decided until late in the 4th quarter.  Sorry, no blowout this week.

hahahaha.  is Berg the new "haven't seen "blank" this year"?  I'm sure that after Saturday, Mount will still take Hill, Ruth and Friss over Berg's "pretty good group".

The main reason Berg is 4-0 is that JCU sort of stinks in 2017

BergAlum

A stat that is probably going to kill Heidelberg's chances this weekend, should the trend continue, is Heidelberg, according to the NCAA site, is number 241 out of 243 for least penalty yards per game, averaging over 100 a game.   :o

Sort of stinks? Not sure I agree with that. I think a team that sort of stinks doesn't go to the wire with the WIAC front runner. Not as good as last year, obviously, but even with the slow start by the Streaks, I would still take them over 80% of teams in DIII.

I kind of hope so.  I miss Suit ruffling feathers on here.  And yes, I am aware I'm probably the only one!

I'm interested to see if last week was a bit of a dry run and they come out and try to run the ball right at Berg.  It seemed odd to me, but once I thought about it I wondered if that wasn't part of the plan.  Test it against ONU and see how it goes, what you need to work on, etc.

I was thinking the same thing last week.  It looked very purposeful to run the ball so much.   We're also getting to the point of the season where you have enough data on yourself to start self-scouting to determine what your own tendencies are as well as identifying weaknesses to work on.   Given the explosiveness of the Berg offense and their penchant for throwing it so much, it makes perfect sense to get the running game geared up to play keep away.  Especially if Mount gets a decent lead or needs to grind out the last 5 minutes of a half.

Should be really good game.  I honestly think the first half will be even.  The 2nd half will be decided by whether Berg can keep the offense rolling for 60 minutes.

Of course JCU isn't a bottom of the barrel D3 team, but they do sort of stink as a preseason top 10 team.  A top 10 team has no business losing to Heidelberg, no offense Berg fan.

Why so much dismissal of Berg? They are undefeated with a couple solid wins under their belt. They're not Wilmington for Pete's sake.

not to mention since 2011 Hberg, has won more, been ranked more, than the other two non-JCU "mount challenge games" OAC schools talked about on here, BW & ONU.

Don't take this the wrong way, or do (whatever), but...huh ??? Who cares? Berg is being dismissed by some, maybe most, because A) it's Mount and B) its Berg (not long removed from "heidi" and only slightly more removed from "bye week"). Ranked more, won more - Berg has lost the last 28 straight to Mount. Period. Most of those have not been close - hell they haven't been entertaining beyond the first 5 minutes after kickoff. This is like Cap or ONU a few years back. Some nice seasons, some good wins. BUT in the OAC you have 1 game you must win, or at least seriously challenge in, to be taken "seriously" (in terms of national and OAC recognition (especially from Mount people). Go 9-1, great year. Go 9-1 with a 58-7 loss to Mount....less great year. Its like a giant turd in the middle of a banana split 'wow, awesome...well except for that huge load of crap in week 5'.

Berg is good. They are. They have talent all over the field. But I can't give them a chance - yet. On paper they look like a great match-up - but so have a lot of teams over the years. Last year looked like a game at half and then WHAM! 50-14. We will find out Saturday. If Berg pulls this one out - then kudos to them. But I can't give them a chance until they show me something against Mount.

Edit- Showing me something is being within 2 scores in 4th qtr and Mount still has starters in. if Mount has the starters on the bench in the 3rd - well enjoy that banana split.

Berg doesn't worry me.  The untested nature of Mount does.  That is what could make this interesting.  Haven't been impressed with Mount's O-line nor their corners.  Mount is a significant favorite, but I'm not ready to make plans for late December just yet.

Yeah you're right, there really only has been one competitive game between the schools in the last ten years, 2013.  That 34-44 game; in which the next week we got destroyed by JCU.  The rest of the games were blowouts, with our only scores really coming against your second teamers.  Its been exciting as a Berg fan for this season, with some big wins after two seasons of some close loses, but as for expectations for this game.  Heidelberg will not win, nor will they probably ever get close to it, it'll probably be that aforementioned banana split, just by a smaller margin than last year. The team is pretty good relative to a lot of D3 ball, but a whole level below Mount.  You guys look at each season with the expectation of a national championship.  For the less elite programs like ourselves, a 8-2 or 9-1 season is a great year and team, relative to our expectations. Can't wait to watch it though.

Yeah I never meant to imply that Berg had a shot at beating Mount I just didn't like the blanket statement of "a top 10 team has no business losing to Heidelberg" I thought it made berg sound like a bottom of the barrel OAC team which they are clearly not.
