Desertraider

I have been saing this for a while: Mount has been become to dependent on the big play. It wasn't there today and they could not run the ball in the second half. The managed a long pass to Hill in 2nd qtr - other than that this game was as ugly as it gets. Is Downie hurt? He was kicking through the end zone for most of the season and today the first 2 kicks were the other guy. Both long returns due to poor coverage. Then Downie comes in and they are kicking to the 10??? The 2nd half opening kick return was pathetic.

Mount's DBs got exposed today - the underneath routes were there all day. The only good on D was the run D. Solid. Mounts O...wow. This is a quarterfinal at best team based on today. If the projected playoff bracket holds - Mount doesn't make it past Witt without some serious adjustments. Heck - after today I can't even say they should be #1 seed in any bracket. This game was almost as bad as it gets - at least it was a win (or as I have to call it - a non-loss).

Fulford was off all day - even in first half. His throws were high and behind. He looked rushed (even when he wasn't under pressure) and uncomfortable. A lot of work for Mount after this.

Seriously - what are the odds Mount is not a #1 seed?

Crazy stat: 8 different OAC receivers finished with 10+ receiving TDs this regular season.

Going back as far as the OAC website goes (16 seasons), there have never been more than five receivers with double-digit TDs.  That's pretty crazy in terms of scoring.

I'm filling DR's stocking with Valium for Christmas.

The odds that Mount won't get one of the four #1 seeds is precisely . . . zero.

And speaking of announcers:  I just watched the Case Western OT victory.  If the guy doing both play-by-play and color (i.e. the Vin Scully model) is a college kid, he's one of the best D3 college announcers I've heard.

Granted, that's a low bar - but still.

I just got home from the Mount Union JCU game. The game should not have been that close.  I don't know who under performed more Mount Union or the officials.

Wow! 97-0!  Did they break Mounts most points scored in a quarter record? It doesnt sound like they kicked FGs on first down either😊 doyou think they will get ripped on somebodies sportscast? Certain writers can be so harsh!

Offense was ok, but no change in game plan. Go routes don't work all of the time when you aren't getting time from the Oline. When there was time, the receivers didn't make some catches. To me it looks like Fulford is seriously injured like a collarbone or something. The entire 4th quarter play calling changed because of that.

Honestly, I think the players on defense did alright. We didn't change our coverages as JCU ran the same plays with short passes over the middle. When we finally dropped Robinson in coverage he got an INT and when we brought pressure in his face, sacks and bad throws.

Special teams need some special attention because if you give a good team that field position in the playoffs, we're done. I just hope we get healthy. Lots of bumps and bruises out there.

Obviously tired after a long regular season, most of us staggered to the end of the 2017 OAC Pick-Emseadog2 alone cracked double-digits; his ten point allowed him to move into the Top Ten.

After a mid-season duel with Raider 68, reality check started pulling away at Week 8 and easily doubled up his 2016 championship; third overall.  Congratulations!

I'll try to get the spreads for Round #1 out Monday night.  Remember, scores are reset to zero and you don't have to have played the regular season Pick-Em to play the OAC Playoff Pick-Em.

Only got to listen to a bit of the game today. Did we run the Powell package of plays at all?

I counted six passes dropped by Mount receivers today. The officials seemed flag happy, especially against Mount in the second half. I don't get all this doom and gloom from desertraider. JCU had a good game plan and their QB played very well in the second half. It was the last game for 20 seniors. JCU played their best game today. This was a good win for Mount ,not cause for desertraider to get a Zanex prescription.

Offense might have used this formation 2-3 times with Fornaro at FB and Stanton at blocking TE, but with Fulford at QB.
