I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Well... with an assist from the weather W&L's defense did great. The offense did better than I expected and while the game never was in doubt, that result was much better than I expected. I sure wish we could have pushed one in, but your D is just too fast, disciplined, and big. On the other hand, I didn't feel like we got blown off the field other than by the wind. The gameplan to keep possession and just keep working did as well as could be expected. More yards and more first downs than I expected and we gave up way less, though again I think that was well assisted by the weather.

The boys certainly weren't embarrassed, not something too many of UMU's first round opponents can say. I'm proud to say that was a great season for the Generals. Good luck to the Raiders in the playoffs. I'd love to say we were beat by the champs.

We'd love for you to say it, as well.

Very impressed by your team, coaches and interweb-posting fans.

The best first round game against Mount I've seen in a long time. Not many purple raider opponents can say they were within 14 points in the 4th quarter.  The weather certainly played a big factor in slowing down Mount's offense, but regardless of the conditions the General's should be proud of their performance today.

From a Mount Union fan perspective it was nice to see us forced into a situation to have to run the ball and not rely on our big play offense (even though we did score on 1 big play). Definitely some good experience for Petro and the oline. Would have liked to see some more of our drives end in points and 0/8 on 3rd down is alarming, but 5.6 yards per run is a solid stat.

Barring an exciting comeback by Illinois Wesleyn it looks like Case is coming to Alliance next week. Boy, the additon of Kevin Burke to the Case Western coaching staff over this summer couldn't have been timed better. I'll bet the defensive coordinator will be picking KB's brain all week about how Mount's zone-read offense works.

edit: to clarify, i get that he know's "how it works" I just mean a better understanding of Mount's specific flavor of the offense is run.

Wow! W&J wins on a career longest FG of 46 yards that bounces over the crossbar after striking it. Congrats to Coach Sirianni . His teams defense was spotty today. Gotta be better than that. They played lights out in the final minute to steal the win, so they do have the ability to do better.

Do we know if Kevin Burke is related to CW's running back Jacob Burke?

They didn't mention it in the d3fb article about KB at Case so i'm guessing no.

Really interesting Mount bracket today.

Raise your hand if you had Mount winning by only 21, Frostburg blowing out Wittenberg on the road and Case Western blowing out Illinois Wesleyan on the road.

Talking to a parent of W and L defensive player, said that Mount linebackers had the best discipline he had seen and did not get sucked up.  They waited a second, then flew to the ball.  He thought they were the difference in containing the running game. He could not say enough about their play.

Unofficially running thru the crowd on Fulford:  The stance of Mount Union is that His offense was a high school error and had nothing to do with the University, nor does it reflect on Mount Union.  Since his time as a Mount Union student he has demonstrated good character, classroom performance and been a leader in all his efforts.

Makes sense, but you will have to make your own decision as to how you feel about that.  Opinions were mixed in the Mount crowd.

In my opinion, not reporting for a warrant while a UMU student is a reflection. He's either extremely careless or not very bright. Neither is a good look for the star position on your star athletic program. It is what it is. I would be very unhappy if W&L took that tactic. I'd imagine everyone will have his/her own opinion...

Now..............it's time for the Ohio DREAM matchup!!!

Franklin and Wartburg headed to OT now.  Flip it on if you're able.

I do hope LK or VK issues some sort of explanatory statement in the next couple days regarding the decison to play Fulford.  Doesn't have to go into great detail.
