Man ... deja vu. Pretty sure I made the same post on the CCIW board a couple months ago.

What we know about Case is that they're a team many people spent all season knocking around for their easy schedule, saying that they only looked good because of their weak opponents (I may or may not have been one of those people lol).
Now, we all have to kind of sort of maybe admit that Case is, quite possibly, not actually all that bad at football.

Case (though less so, with a mid-teens poll ranking) fell afoul of the same 'contempt' as Trine and Husson - an undefeated but totally untested team.  They all have the 'last laugh' (though they hope it isn't the LAST ;))  of playing in week thirteen.

(I admit to undervaluing all three on my national 'fan' ballot, as well.  Husson still hasn't made it on quite yet, since I had Springfield ranked pretty low, but before Saturday I never even gave them a thought.)

If all students were judged on their actions as a 17 year old, hardly anyone would be allowed in college.

Um...this is basically exactly what an admissions application is for.

did wally ever break a law prior to college?  maybe a sip of booze or god forbid smoke a little?  Did you ever break a speed limit?  I am trying to hold onto the belief that you were clean as can be

To fill out your incomplete hypothetical, suit, did the lawbreaking go unresolved and was Wally the starter at the most prominent position on Wabash's most prominent athletic team? Because those are also details that are likely endemic to this conversation.

I would guess most underage "lawbreaking" went unresolved for nearly all of us.   The most prominent position at the most prominent athletic team has been in trouble before and it was actually as a college student, and I'm not sure exactly why the football position makes it worse.  I don't recall that being a big deal on the boards before.

There have been much worse offenses by OAC QB's in the recent past.  But we should stay away from that.  I'm fine to move onto the Case game.

Does anyone know anything about CWRU?

All I know is that you DO NOT want to be in possession of the ball with 46 seconds left in the game, up by 4, Case only has 2 Timeouts, and you're in Victory formation... if you do, Case has you EXACTLY where they want you.

ONLY if you can't train your guys not to lose their cool and get an unsportsmanlike penalty. :o

You certainly were more than glad to talk about it in 2015 when the shoe was on someone else's foot, though.

When you explain it that way, it's really funny. Good reading after all the other stuff on here.
So, they'll have you right where they want you. I love it
Thanks, I needed that!

Kind of a useless stat, but I wonder if this is the closest non-oac playoff matchup for Mount in terms of proximity to Alliance. Anyone happen to know?

Relatively new to D3 (3 yrs in) can someone tell me how Mount Union is so successful year after year.
It almost seems like the regular season is laughable for them.
Over 20 yrs with only 1 loss average is an amazing feat.
Being on the west coast you very rarely even hear about this..
How do they avoid the ups and downs that most schools go through?

Ugh.  I was feeling quite content with my position until WesleyDad agreed.  Must rethink everything! ;D

True Coach, You should always worry when I see things as you do.  Or maybe I just learned to defer to much smarter people than I.  Good luck this week.  :D

One thing is for sure....they will have a little better look inside the program than most teams.... Kevin Burke is a RB coach for Case. He had been on Mount's staff until last year I believe. And he seems to be having fun coaching this year. Now we have players Vince coached coming back to oppose his old coach. A theme we have seen over and over again when Larry was still coaching. ;)
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Many, many reasons, I'm sure, some of which are probably not even easily expressible.  But I think far and away the single biggest reason is that Larry Kehres was one of the best football coaches EVER at ANY level, and chose to stay his whole career (and is still present as AD and an asst. coach - and head coach is his son, who had quite a mentor).  The overwhelming proportion of coaches even remotely as successful as LK would have moved 'up' for the big bucks; he refused.

:) HA!

Basically — divine intervention placed fear and confusion over Pittsburgh entering the hearts and minds of the Carnegie Mellon offensive line.   Then some Cleveland Lake Effect snow descended upon central Illinois for the 3rd and 4th qtr only (seriously it looked melted by the end of the game!), and the Case Western Reserve players rejoiced for they felt at home.

What's the forecast for Saturday?  I'm predicting a swarm of locusts... or perhaps a swarm of Lake Erie midges that helped the Indians defeat the Yankees in the 2007 MLB Playoffs

We're not talking about a minor traffic offense here though.

We're talking about a violent FELONY!!!!

BIG difference.  No comparison there man!

A traffic ticket won't keep you out of most colleges.

But a felony might raise a few eyebrows!
