Now it's a "Violent Felony?"

Do posters on here have information the rest of us don't?

I would think that if it was a Violent Felony they would have wanted him in FL ASAP and wouldn't have let him finish the semester and turn himself in next month...

From Alliance Review
QuoteMount Union's starting quarterback D'Angelo Fulford, 20, was arrested following a routine traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in the 10000 block of Louisville Street and taken into custody after Stark County deputies learned he had an active warrant out of Florida for failing to appear in Broward County juvenile court for an alleged assault case from August of 2015.

Active warrant for failure to report for an alleged juvenile assault.

How did that morph to Violent Felony?

I think we'd all be better off if Merle would just shut it.  The more you type, the deeper you dig that hole.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Last I checked, assault is indeed a violent crime, and reports are that there was a warrant for his arrest on charges of FELONY battery which date from his high school days.

Please re-read.

http://www.d3football.com/notables/2017/11/mount-union-quarterback-arrested

Based on that, I stand by my assertion.  The underlying offense  for which he was arrested under warrant was indeed a violent felony.

Recruiting a player with that kind of record is definitely questionable.

At first I had heard that he was on juvenile probation.  If I was incorrect about that, then I apologize and stand corrected.  I just made an Amendment.

If not, then he's presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, but I'm guessing that most programs would avoid recruiting anyone facing violent felony charges such as these, .... that is to say.....IF they knew about said charges at the time of recruitment.

That's why I asked the question as to whether or not the MU coaches KNEW that he had this hanging over him.

The reports are by several networks and sources (Fox8, WKYC, Alliance Review) that it is a warrant for Felony Battery.

Look there is a difference between a warrant and a manhunt. I am not sure some people realize how large the Broward Court system is. It's not like this is the only warrant they have put there. People make it seem (and I am not including you in this K&J) that since they "didn't come and get him" its not a big deal.Take populations of Columbus, Cleveland, Akron, Cincinnati and Toledo - put them together and you get the idea. Broward County has a population of almost 2 million (1.9 million). Just because D'Angelo isn't public enemy #1 and their top priority doesn't mean this is equivalent to a jaywalking ticket. Love to hear the "if they wanted him they could just open the paper he's in it all the time" - really? How many times we see violent felons in Cleveland with multiple warrants and it takes months/years to get them - and they are still in Cleveland?

Saw the Gagliardi candidates on the front. Question - Is it just me or do Kasper (UWO) and Parson (ETB) look like the same person? Maybe twins separated at birth.

No offense intended to the Trine QB (Wyse)....but why did they take a pick of your dad? Dude is killing it in the beard.

Good luck to all the candidates - all are definitely worthy. My pick in Kasper...or Parson..yep that guy.

mr_mom

OK ... still trying to avoid discussion in the whole Fulford situation because I have no real facts nor fake facts to base my opinion on.  All I have are spreads for the second round of the 2017 OAC Playoff Pick-em.  And they are posted.

Good luck to all players, no matter which position they have taken on the Fulford situation.  Please just treat each other with a modicum of respect.

Thanks.  Tired.

Time to get past the Fulford story.

Best of luck with that.  The highest profile player playing the highest profile position at the highest profile school in the Division (by light years) being on the field with all of the extra stuff going on off the field is a story every day of every week until Mount Union is out of the tournament or wins it.  That's just the way this is gonna go for the next four weeks.

I'll be very disappointed if there isn't a statement this week from the head coach, athletic director &/or president telling us as much as possible without prejudicing legal proceedings or violating privacy rules.  In my opinion, everybody, including Fulford, deserves that.

Mount already made a statement.

This is a case of missing a court date, bad decision- 100%, but the people trying to throw Fulford in prison are a little over the line.  Nobody knows what legal advice that Fulford received as a juvenile in FL nor do we know what kind of homelife he came from.  Fulford will go to court in FL once Mount wins the Stagg Bowl and he will be hit with a fine.  I hope the D3 world can get over it a little bit at that point, there will be no pound of flesh coming from the Raiders QB, and it's time to move on.

I can't imagine what these boards would have looked like if other teams' players with legal trouble would have been Purple Raiders

Alright, I just saw this and I can't let it go unaddressed.  Among the many strange things you said yesterday in trying to defend Mount Union's position on Fulford and Fulford himself, this is the strangest.

I'm not a lawyer, but I assure you, sir, no matter what legal advice he received, "Don't appear before the court when summoned on charges of battery" wasn't among that advice.

I'm not here to tell you what to think, but reading your posts on this subject, you sound like a loon.  Whether or not Mount was right in letting Fulford play, whether or not Fulford is guilty of the charges is immaterial to my point.  You've compared an active warrant related to a battery charge to underage "lawbreaking," smoking weed, underage drinking, and have suggested that maybe a lawyer told him to skip town.

Just stop.

Back to the cave.

This is the new home of OAC discussion. Welcome aboard, everyone.
Pat,
The current paucity of crap of the OAC forum suggests, in the age of the hack, that it has been shut down. Perhaps, at MUC hater?
