Has anyone read the updated story? Fulfords attorney said the ticket stated that he didn't need to appear in court. It was a misunderstanding, and has now been resolved.

Why would you care about the updated story?  Fulford deserves to be tarred and feathered in front of the D3 world.

Pat Coleman

Would have been a virtual non-story if there had been comment provided last night, but it seems as if it were our reporting that informed people that there was an issue.

No everyone wants to stick with their early conclusions that he just did not give a crap about the court date.  Reasonable....  ???

the school and lawyer didn't have a comment at 9:00 pm when your "story" ran?  how rude

So you assume the calls were made at the time of posting. Not how this works.

I'll add... stories run at all times in this day-in-age... part of the job in PR (lawyer, school, etc.) is to be available at all times in a lot of cases. That is just the way it works now. 11pm news doesn't go on air with no comments when the offices close at 5pm. People respond in the evenings as well.

Why is everyone out to convict this kid without knowing all the facts. Let the process play out. I'm not sure we know only half of the story.

Why is this a big deal?   Because playing college football on behalf of your university is a privilege, not a right.   Your a very public ambassador of your school, and none being more public than the starting QB.  I'm about as ANTI-politically correct as possible, but the PR hit for this is why he shouldn't have been playing until the 1st thing was figured out.

Mount is already under the microscope for simply being so good for so long and don't need to create issues for themselves.   Even if VK didn't think any of this was a big deal, which obviously he doesn't, he still should have been smart enough to know they had the horses to easily win Round 1 without him.   The easy answer would have been to suspend him at the first instance so that they appeared to be strong.   Then quickly re-instate him after the W&L game.  Now they've created *hit-storm over nothing.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

cool.

more likely is a "story" about the Mount Union QB drives traffic to the website and needs to be posted regardless if there were comments about this "issue" or not.

You're right, the Mount Union QB clearly shouldn't be driving at all.

Wow merlecanlas - your ax must be sharp the amount of times you grind it on these boards.

I can't think of a single time when anyone said editorially, run the story because we will can drive traffic. We aren't TMZ or anyone who does click bait. It was a factual story that no one either commented on or felt the need to return a call. The facts where there. Period.

Feel free to grind the ax, but be sure you don't cut yourself.

no ax to grind.  I am very grateful for the d3football website and the boards.  But I think that this non-story was blown out of proportion due to the fact that it involved the Mount Union QB.  The number one position at the number one school in D3 Football....agree to disagree I guess

Nice to see that Mr Fulford isn't the only one missing something these days.

Only in the fact that it involved a quarterback of a team still playing. For example, I think we covered the Wheaton story from earlier this fall in the same manner. If it were one of the 245 inactive teams' players, agreed that it's a non-story. But a bench warrant issued for the arrest of the starting quarterback of a quarterfinalist is a story, no matter who.

And indeed, the calls were made before 9 p.m. ET and we held the story to give time for a response.

Doesn't matter if Jaywalking or Bank Robbery was the offense. Such a poor look to not have even a resemblance of a professional/proficient PR effort on the issue, when they had to know the news spread would be.

Here's the status.  There still was a bench warrant as of this morning until his appearance.  As an attorney, I agree with USTBench fully here.

At the bottom of the image/proceedings it states:

Bench Warrant Cancelled

Correct.  That part about "until his appearance." ;-)

Sorry, your fancy lawyer verbiage confused me.  I tried to delete but didn't get it before you replied.  ;)
