Why is everyone out to convict this kid without knowing all the facts. Let the process play out. I'm not sure we know only half of the story.

So are you disputing that he failed to appear for battery charges, was arrested the week before last due to that outstanding warrant and was booked for driving on a suspended license, or that he failed to appear this week for the traffic ticket?

No one is trying to convict anyone of anything.  When you are supposed to appear before a court of law, you show up.

I know nothing about the FL charges, nobody on here knows anything.  His traffic ticket said he didn't have to appear.  Neither you or I would have shown up to court either.

I am so tired of you.  You've danced every possible way around this and you really just need to stop.  I know that he was charged with felony battery in Florida, and so do you.  I know that he was supposed to appear in court for those charges and failed to, and so do you.  For someone who says he knows nothing about the charges in Florida you're quick to dismiss them as "hazing" (also, this is 2017, we don't just chalk hazing up to boys being boys anymore).  So which is it...you know nothing about the charges or it's hazing?

Finally, his lawyer (because everyone has legal representation for a traffic violation) says that "[Fulford] was not of the belief that he had to appear in court.  That was something that was marked on his ticket."  The lawyer never actually said the ticket wasn't marked correctly.  Read his statement again.  You read that the ticket was mismarked.  But that's not what the lawyer said.

Just go back to suggesting that maybe Fulford's lawyer told him not to appear, that sounds reasonable.

I'm not dancing.  I generally don't think hazing in HS is that big of a deal.  I must be a monster.  I do not know the specifics of the FL juvenile charges, would you please fill us in with the details.

QuoteAccording to Max Haupt, Fulford's attorney, Fulford's failure to appear in court was because the ticket Fulford received was marked that he was not required to appear in court. It is not clear why the ticket and the court records were in conflict. Haupt said he believed, based on the ticket, that Fulford would be able to pay the fine and was not aware of a court date.

If the Stark County court can accept the explanation, then maybe those in the glass houses in University Heights can accept them the same.

Duuuuude. When you put shaving cream in a teammate's helmet you don't get charged with felony battery. My guess is it was beyond the pale of a few laughs and generally pretty terrifying for his victim. Glad I wasn't your teammate, you were probably a nightmare.

Or, the court didn't care what the excuse was.  He could have shown up this morning and said "sorry I forgot" and would have been treated similarly.

I really hate to break in, but does Mount Union have a game this Saturday?
If so, would love to hear some comments about our chances, how good the other team is etc.
I'll wait on the edge of my seat for some responses. Thank you and good day.

I still am

in 2017, I wouldn't be shocked if shaving cream in a helmet resulted in a felony charge.  Imagine the horror and embarrassment caused by those actions, triggered!!!!

Mount could play Fulford, Poorman or a 1957 graduate at QB and roll this week.

I never saw any hazing in my career:  Not in High School, nor college.  We had something called the Freshman Talent Show during Doubles in college, but that wasn't even close to hazing.

I would be very surprised if Frostburg beat Mount this Saturday, regardless of who is playing at QB. The talent on Mount's team all over the field ought to be enough to get them to the semifinals without too much drama.

Can't, but that's the statute. The DA has to obtain probable cause that you either: "caused great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement" to even prosecute you for it.

If that's your idea of "no big deal" then I'm glad I only interact with you on the internet.

I hope, and TRUST, that if Fulford is actually in danger of being convicted of felony battery, that LK/VK would not even entertain the thought of keeping him on the team.

I suspect that there is A LOT about this situation that we don't know and in the end, it will be much ado about nothing.

I doubt that LK would risk the reputation of the program and school for something like that.  He's being inducted into the College HOF next month, no way he lets this kid play if he thought that there was a chance he would be convicted.

Getting inducted into the college football HOF does not make you infallible. OJ Simpson was in it when he decided to slash the throat of two people (acquitted, but still). Joe Paterno was complicit in allowing child rape in his locker room.

This is just giving a kid with a pending felony the benefit of the doubt. Which a TON of coaches have done, even after they were convicted.

I try not to pedestalize people for their professional accomplishments anymore. Doesn't make them a saint, just means they're good at one thing.
