The last several days have been an attack on Fulford, the Kehres's and Mount Union. Read the posts. Also, read the rest of my post. The part you picked out was in response to a story in today's Alliance Review. About his interaction with kids. I respect your opinion on Dlll matters, but if you don't see an attack on Fulford in some of these posts, you're just plain not paying attention.

There have been very few attacks, but lots of critiques. I don't think anyone is targeting the player. Heck, I don't even mention his name. Most people are critiquing Mount Union and its handling of this situation. Mount Union's silence isn't doing the program any favors.

^^^ This.  I think for the most part everyone has been fairly objective.  Look, there are legal issues.  Outlining them, the timeline, etc. is not an attack.  It's just reviewing facts.  A lot of the banter has rightfully been focused on Mount's handling of the situation.  As someone mentioned this is a rarity in D3 so when it occurs at Mount during the playoffs it's going to be discussed on here at length.  I don't think anyone has been out of line during the discussion.  I don't recall anyone even saying they'd kick Fulford off the team.  I thought most of the discussion has been bench him vs. start him.  To me that debate is in line with the situation.

p.s. Am I the only one who saw that article in the Review and kind of smirked?  I realize it wasn't orchestrated in that it was the kid's first day back to school, but I question if that warrants a story in the paper without the rest of this stuff going on.  Call me a cynic I guess.

Did the Alliance Review report one word of Fulford's off-field stuff between Nov. 13 and Nov. 30?  I'm not sure they did.  They have a Mount Union beat writer whose job it is to report Mount Union news, even if that news is kind of a bummer. D3Football.com has done great work on this story, but quite frankly it shouldn't have been D3Football.com's story to break.  So is the Alliance Review a news organization or a Mount Union fan blog?  It's hard to tell this week.

I haven't searched, but I have not seen anything yet.  They had the Hargrove arrest in the paper the next day (despite what the JCU fans on Twitter think).  Same for when Murray was arrested a few years ago.  Both those cases were felonies I believe, but regardless I'd think the starting QB being arrested would be newsworthy.

Edit:  I should have searched before posting.  It was in the Review on 11/17.

MUC57, just for the record, these are the only types of posts claiming Fulford was something along the lines of public enemy No. 1, and this is (presumably) tongue-in-cheek.

Jeff Zupanic, the beat writer in question, appears to believe that it is better for a reporter to not cover a story at all rather than to cover a story carefully.  Is Pat Coleman a professional acquaintance of Jeff Zupanic?  Perhaps Pat can ask Jeff if my take is correct.

Reading through twitter, Zupanic seems awfully defensive when confronted by Rossi.

This is an especially weird year for this to happen.  Wheaton's players might be found not guilty due to the fact that they didn't physically harm the hazee at all, while Fulford might well have seriously hurt his hazee.

Unless I'm mistaken, AO, you cite a disputed point in your first assertion and make an unsupported assumption in the second one.

My brother is a huge Iowa State fan (and alum). The other night, I had him convinced that Matt Campbell was the new Tennessee coach. I got him to spend 30 minutes scouring the internet before he followed up with me and I owned up to fabricating it. I almost feel bad about it, but then I think back to our football games in the yard as a kid (I am 5 years younger) and I don't feel guilty anymore.

Thank You!

So much speculation when no one knows the real story.  Not sure we ever will since it happened when Fulford was a minor.  May not release for to the public.

Jeffrey Zupanic covers Mount Union Athletics for The Alliance Review.  He has stated on Twitter that since the incident has not affected Fulford's status as a Student and/or Athlete that he will not be reporting on it.  Said (I am paraphrasing) that the paper has another department that covers crime, etc. so that is not his expertise.

He's part of the cover up!!!!!

Zupanic doesn't want to lose access to the one person that will actually listen to him.

His defensiveness is being disputed?  https://twitter.com/JeffZupReview/status/935699910783111168  I'm not even saying he's right or wrong, just oddly defensive.

I'm not making any assumptions in the second point.  I'm speculating about possible outcomes.  It might well come out that Fulford never hurt anyone.  I hope that's the case.

What's with Mt fans referencing the great Mt Defenses of 2012 and 2015? Can you only have a great D if you win the Stagg? Come on, you only had to beat the Tommies for cry eye.

Mt's D in 2011 was a nightmare.
