Makes sense to me! Ah, what you said about UMU and UWW getting together again. Why not?

Negative.  MTU is 3-6 vs UWW in the Stagg Bowl.  Only recent win vs UWW is in 2015 Semis.  Haven't beaten UWW in Stagg since 2008.  I, for one, am glad UWW has fallen off a bit.
MUC57,
I suspect you may be a year older than me; exhibiting the wisdom of age. Leave a somewhat dozing UWW rest; take UMHB, then one and one with Linfield. ;D

OK! OK! you were right and I was wrong. Excuse me while I go hide.

"exhibiting the wisdom of age". Damn, I really like that. You're OK in my book. At least you didn't call me an "old timer" like some people, who shall remain nameless. But their initials are K & J.
And one more thing - Get 'em Raiders!
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Whitewater was awesome, but before they began their rise at the end of Bob they weren't nationally relevant,
and since Lance left they have suffered a slight decline. Mount has been there (relevant nationally) for 24 years in a row, so while I will admit that WWW had their time, so did Augustana, but Mount endures.. Bring back Lance and WWW will be there again.
The passing of the torch in the WIAC has been interesting from La Crosse to Whitewater to Oshkosh.  Who is next, or will WWW be back? On the Mount Union side, maybe VK leaves and in two years Mount is 7-2 or 8-2 forever, who knows?
Perhaps it is Oshkosh's turn to put a couple or three wallet and bronze pieces in the glass case?
This week's game will be interesting.  mid 20's and clear for Saturday is the early prediction weatherize.

Mt fans are funny (as in peculiar) about that. I get that the overall Stagg record favors UWW, but the games themselves are incredibly competitive and, in my opinion, have been mostly winnable by either team. Two different styled teams, both typically executing at a very high level. Both teams have come from behind against each other.
Maybe the number of lopsided victories Mt has during a season impacts this a bit. I don't consider the overall Stagg record as a "UWW had Mt's number". So many games have been one touchdown/play deciding it. 2014 screen pass. 2011 sack near end zone. 2010 Coppage 75 yard run on 3rd and 6 in fourth. 2009 Coppage 30 yard run with just over a minute left. 2007 Beaver long run in fourth.

I don't remember any of those ??? - But I remember Micheli coming to the rescue, Beaver stuffed (no pun intended) in the red zone, Kmic galloping 96 yds, and Garcon going Superman!
RIP MUC57 - Go Everybody!

So you're saying there's a chance for JCU to become the new team to beat?  ;D ;D ;D

But in all seriousness, I think UWW will be back, but not in the same manner as before. I think you will see more Oshkosh and White Water competing for Conference Titles, as opposed to the stretch of UWW dominance.

It looks like LaCrosse may be knocking on the door too. Mike Schmidt has that program humming right now. 3 scores total the difference against UWO, and UWW.

Yes, the rest of WIAC has caught up. I think ever since 2014 UWW has been running on the fumes of Lance Leipold. the LOS was always the big advantage for UWW, and LL had an uncanny ability to recruit and develop lineman that were on a whole different level than the rest of D3. Combine that with a pound the rock scheme that complements those athletes perfectly and you get UWW's dominance. Now that the elite line, scheme (somewhat)  and coaching staff are gone I don't see any reason UWW will re-enter purple power status anytime soon.

Well that was some depressing reading.

I just want to make the point that regardless of the record, the teams were extremely competitive with each other.

Congratulations to Coach Kehres on a most incredible career- not just the games won, but all the people he helped achieve success along the way.

All,
I can't recall NCAA rules relating to flying teams, (Mount to Oshkosh?)
If yes, how will LK get there? ;D

Oh, another thing. MUC:OSH will be on ESPN3. Hopefully, it will not pre-empt streaming video from Mount or Oshkosh. Either may be preferable to 'those' ESPN people.

(Get ready...pontification coming)

Larry Kehres is the greatest coach in our most recent era (1980 to now), if not ever.  He is the most gracious, accommodating coach as long as you aren't the media.  He has always been a red ass (people that know, understand what I am saying), but has done everything he can to make sure his players are successful in life, and on the field.  The few times I watched practice back in the day, I used the shudder when things were going sideways, because he made everyone just "do over".  The man was extremely demanding, but very supportive (as long as you were doing it his way).  All the people that have spent any time with him get this.  All the media, people, outside influences that didn't get it never would.

Here's to the greatest coach ever in our era!  Cheers & Salute!

Jack Parkman

Great story about LK's 90 year old former coach Ken Wable coming to see him inducted.  I don't know much about UMU other than the fact that they have an amazing history but this article shows the close relationship these men built.
