I'm looking at the Stagg matchup as a classic battle of the unstoppable force (UMU offense) vs the unmovable object (UMHB defense). These are simply the 2 most dominant units in d3, IMO. As soon as I think, "I don't see anyone scoring on UMHB, not even UMU..." I turn around and think "I don't see anyone stopping UMU, not even UMHB..."  ??? ??? ???

On the flipside, UMU's defense has been vulnerable and UMHB's offense has been inconsistent.

So we've got strength vs strength along with weakness vs weakness...

So it will come down to special teams? It sounds like the general consensus is that UMHB has the edge in specials...

Should be a heck of a game, really looking forward to watching it!

Sounds like a reasonable assessment to me. I suspect many of us feel the same way.

To other posters on these boards

See, you don't learn much from my stuff, but I have a good time (usually)! You have to excuse me because

Why are you so nervous?

Nice!! How many times have I asked you that very question over the years? Glad to see the anxiety vanishing!

Don't know how you came up with that conclusion. I think thr team with purple in it wins. Of course, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
(Hope you know I'm just messin' with you).
Seriously folks, this could be a game for the ages. Best to both teams. Hope both play their best and the better team wins. (I personally hope Mount wins, but that's just me. Well, actually, lots of alums and other fans hope the Raiders win as well)!
Go Purple Raiders!!!!!!🏈

Would like to see Mount rattle the young QB early if that is possible.  Fulford showed he can recover from disaster against UWO, so I am not particularly worried there. I just wonder if the UMHB qb has had any real adversity to overcome.
I, too think that special teams is critical and could be game changing.  Mount has struggled to contain kick coverage, especially on Kickoffs.  I would punt everything out of bounds and kickoff high and short to try to get a fair catch or returner that is not on the back line.

I was surprised at how much Mount pushed around the D-line of UWO. I thought this would not be possible, but they did a great job. Perhaps we have underestimated them, or was UWO not as strong up front as we anticipated?

K C Keeler is a top candidate for the UTEP job, according to a couple reports I have seen.  I don't know if they have hired yet, or hired someone else, but he was in the running.

I see the only team to test MHB through the air was East Baptist, who threw for 267 yards. It doesn't look like MHB even played anyone who could throw the ball all year. No wonder they only gave up 14 points a game. They haven't played against anyone with a real life passing attack. This is a far, far better offense than MHB faced last year. Night and Day better. On Friday their defensive backs won't be able to cover the Mount Union receivers. If the EBT quarterback can go 22-28 for 267 what do you think Fulford can do? This will be a mismatch.

UMHB hasn't seen an Offense like UMU...

;D  ;D   ;D

Uni Update: UMU wearing Black over Black, even though they are the visitors.

I'm assuming UMHB will be wearing Yellow Jerseys.

Nor has Mount seen a defense like MHB.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

UWO did not have a great defense this year, they graduated all but one starter from last year (go ahead Merle, it's teed up).

Unfortunately you probably shouldn't take too much consolation from how Mt performed against the UWO D. But that said, Mt gashed UMHB last year w your quick RB and you have a better passing attack this year.

No, the consolation isn't what they did against UWO, it's how they did it. An offense that had been inconsistent all year, was able to prove they could posses the ball and succeed without the big plays they were used to. UWO didn't have a great defense but they were a still a solid D from a great conference and they forced the Mount O out of their comfort zone.
