From the Empire 8 D3MAFAN RE UMHB Corners:

"There DBs are fast and cover really well and fit the run very well. They are very athletic. I think if you are going to get anything, it is going to be through schematics and not athleticism. There D-Line allows for them to play aggressive. Good Luck."

Should be an interesting game.

I see the only team to test MHB through the air was East Baptist, who threw for 267 yards. It doesn't look like MHB even played anyone who could throw the ball all year. No wonder they only gave up 14 points a game. They haven't played against anyone with a real life passing attack. This is a far, far better offense than MHB faced last year. Night and Day better. On Friday their defensive backs won't be able to cover the Mount Union receivers. If the EBT quarterback can go 22-28 for 267 what do you think Fulford can do? This will be a mismatch.

So you are equating a test to the amount of yards given up? Did you look at the number of attempts? Seems to me that ETBU had success cause they were one of the last games of the season and the team was weary from playing common opponents and ready for the playoffs. We also had a few in the secondary who were injured. Seems to me a low number of yards, low number of yards per attempt, low YAC, and a high number of attempts would equal a test that was passed.

Speaking of Twitter I'm really irritated that the UMHB account is using the hashtag #2pete. Are you kidding me? Are they unaware that people only use the term "threepete" because it rhymes with the term for winning back to back which is REPEAT. 2Pete is just silly.

This is quite funny.

Didn't realize your coach was a Pete. Makes sense now and is actually quite clever.

Crap! Before that lone Augustana fan trolling around looking for a way to remind everyone of the glory days stumbles in...

+ for that.

Please respect all that have blazed this trail for the rest of the D3!  Whether AUG or WITT or any of the other pioneers.

But this is a selfish request.  Please, all of your best wishes for PurplePanda who is stuck at Johns Hopkins Medical Center this entire week learning how to feed herself through a IV port.

For those who questioned why I would not be at the Stagg this week, this is the reason.

Thanks!  Mom

Can anybody fill us in on the general ability of the UMHB cornerbacks?

INTERCEPTIONS    No.    Yards    Avg     TD    Long   TFL
Kris Brown (CB)     5    195            39.0      3    64       6
Santos Villarreal (LB)    4    9             2.2      0    7
Reggie Wilson  (CB)    2    25    12.5    0    25
Jefferson Fritz (DB)            2    0    0.0    0    0
Raylon Hickey (CB)     2    2    1.0    0    2                 5
Reggie Cole (CB)                                                          5

Ability can't be put into stats.

Daquan Hubbard, for Brockport, averaged 23 yards a catch, 83 a game, with 11 touchdowns. Matched with our CB's, he had 3 receptions, 17 yards, 0 TD's.

J.D. Lasswell, Linfield, 58 yds a game average, 9 TD's, 4 for 53 vs UMHB

Our CB's do very well against WR's. They are strong and get by blocks quickly. Our DB's, are quick to converge. The thing that makes the biggest difference is we rarely blitz which allows us to play coverage well. I agree that we haven't seen a stout passing game of MU's ability, but I guys are very good, tackle well, limit YAC, and shut down WR's. I can't remember them really getting beat this year save a couple of times. It will be a great matchup.

Let's compare both teams opponents ranked in the top 100 in total passing yards:

Mount
Heidelberg  #9  327.3
Capital #30 289.9
CWRU  #62  250.7
Baldwin Wallace # 64  249.1
Oshkosh  #69  244.7
Frostburg St.  #82  237.0

UMHB
ETBU  #2  403.4
Louisiana College  #13  317.0
Chapman  #42  271.6
Brockport  #47  259.6
St. Thomas  #49  258.4
Hardin Simmons #63  249.5
Texas Lutheran  #77  241.9
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

mr_mom... With no horse in the race my thoughts are with your wife.
I've beat 2 cancers and a widow maker - so far.

You guys, didn't there used to be an Ohio vs. Texas high school match? I seem to remember such. I believe it evolved to Florida - California.

UMU hits hard. I believe MHB will hit harder. Probably glancing blows on Fulford but enough to make him think instead of react.
10-7 just might be an instant replay for the Stagg.

Just watched some highlights from the UMHB/UST quarterfinal. Now I'm nervous again. I hate it when that happens. Gonna be quite a game. Still like the Raider's chance. Mount by 10.
🏈 Good luck Purple Raiders! 🏈
