No doubt defense helps win championships, but you better have an offense.

Talk about things coming full circle:  Kacey Keeler is, once again, losing big on Stagg Bowl night.

For the sake of the rest of D3, I hope there was some sort of magic about Salem.  Now that UMU has won 52% of all the titles ever played there, maybe there can be some sharing in other locations?! 8-)

The last time I saw a game there, I met a number of residents who had nothing to do with the Stagg except that they roomed UMU fans every year.  The score didn't matter.  They simply roomed UMU fans and parents and enjoyed the relationship.  The Stagg benefited their city greatly, and UMU benefited from them even more.  Thank you and bless them!.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Well Done Raiders, Great effort by all. I believed after seeing the first few games in September that this team could
win it all and you did! :)
13 time Division III National Champions

Still disappointed they never ran the Powell package in the playoffs. What was the purpose of setting it up early in the season??

Congrats to VK and the team.  Great way to win #13
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I've never been there for the Stagg (IWU is not much of a threat to ever attend in fball), but attended for the 2014 MBB FF (IWU DOES fairly often manage that!).  I LOVED the town, the people, and the facilities!  And the temperature was about 70 - apparently winter arrives early, but also leaves early! ;)

I hope Purple Panda is doing well! ;D

Other things to be disappointed about, that unfortunately dampen the excitement about winning the championship:

*  Mount never ran The Statue of Liberty this season.

*  Mount never drop kicked a field goal this season.

*  Mount never -and this one really stings - Mount never flanked Cole Parrish out wide and sent him deep.

That's not fair! The Powell package was actually run multiple times this year!

WRM,
I think the point is, championships ERASE disappointment. All of it.

Congratulations Mount.

Well, WRMUalum13, as my old man used to say:  Who told you life was fair?

P.S.  Please tell me you're not serious about this Powell thing.  Please tell me this.

Have now been back into the hotel for about 30 minutes.  JUST starting to warm back up.  The temperature is still in the low 30's, but I gotta tell you that wind (as per always) was a bi*&TH!  Great catching up to WesleyDad & the MHB family, but we mainly stayed in the car for the tailgate because it was blowing & cold.

MHB's defense was as advertised.  Fulford has never seen a pass he doesn't like, and when you only throw a minute amount of interceptions, who's to say he his wrong?  However, he was definitely wrong in a few situations tonight.  Two interceptions, and two other that COULD have been interceptions (and one ended up being a TD).

MHB's freshman QB was getting rocked early & often, and it just got worse as the 2nd half wore on.  The kid will learn and get even better next year.

Mount's D was unreal, and the punter could have shared the MVP with 37.

I loved that we were able to thank and praise all the folks that we saw today & tonight.  Salem considers Mount fans as their second family & I believe that goes both ways.

National Champs for the 13th time!  WOW!

Lol no im legit dissapointed. When they the ran the stupid thing earlier this year i thought it was a pointless waste of plays... unless they were setting something up for later in the year.

Nope... not setting anything up. Just seems weird to introduce an interesting offensive wrinkle and then never use it when it could actually make a difference in the game. I mean it didn't matter since 3-0 would have won, but why even add the plays?

Don't get me wrong! Super happy with 13, but just confused.

Congrats to UMU. played a whale of a game. that was 2 amazing defenses that went to work and y'all pulled even. hopefully we do it again next year. If so, i bet it'll be warmer
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.
