Transferring up also includes sitting out a year.  Scholarship offer or not, sitting your 3rd year of college is a tough pill to swallow.

Are there any examples of Mount players transferring to a higher division? I know it's happened at other schools. I really don't think it's a concern for us.

Random musings...

As WD said it was just too darn cold for tailgating, especially when you are old whimps like my crew is.  Kudos to the one Mount student tailgate who brought their own DJ, and were dancing in the parking lot aisle.  That was awesome!

That wasn't a student tailgate, those Purple Suit alumni just know how to throw a party.   ;D

Ruth is still subject to a medical waiver getting approved though right?

merlecanlas

yes.  This isn't a case of playing 3 or 4 games and then being injured, Ruth missed the entire 2015 season.  If he wants to come back, I would bet he would be able.

Awesome, I didn't know what his situation was, that would be huge.

I would assume Mount has plenty of documentation of his injury and can get the OAC to petition the NCAA for 2015 to be his medical hardship year.

Yes so it's probably an issue of if he wants to come back / could be graduate on time

raiderpa

It could be awfully expensive to come back, just to play football, unless he needs credits to graduate.  I don't know what kind of academic load he would have to carry, but tuition is not cheap.

Seems you can't forget the series stands: Mount Union 5. Wesley 0.

The pass for the touchdown is something we have seen all year. (I have seen 9 games, and you?)
A great QB throwing to a great receiver with great hands. Been done before. No knockdown, no interception. Just a TD,

The safety was caused because of the pressure from the defense, strong rush and good coverage in the secondary. Number 1 put them in a hole - he did not cause the safety. Credit ti UMU.

So the teams were about even? Seems Mount was a little more even than UMHB. The Crusaders scored zero (0), Mount scored 12. Some of the individual stats were close, but only one stat really matters.

UMHB had a great year. A good team in a good program. They'll be back next year, back in the playoffs, back contending for a national championship. But last night, Mount Union was, not so surprisingly, Mount Union.

There's always next year, for all of us. We start over in August!

MUC, get a clue.  I don't care how Mount has done against Wesley, that has no bearing on my opinion about the game.  You are a Mount fan and only see the game through purple glasses.  The TD was lucky, plain and simple.  The safety was a result of a player trying to make a play and putting his team in a hole.  Of course the pressure and sack get the credit for the safety, but if Wilkerson heads up field as he normally would the ball would not have been on the 3 to start with.  The teams are even, if you think otherwise than you have less of a clue than I thought.  This was a 3-0 game in the 4th, both teams were struggling on offense against 2 top defenses.  Enjoy the win, but try to be honest when you actually assess the game.  If you can't, don't bother trying to explain things, just be a Mount fan.

If he missed every game and all team activities due to injury, he doesn't even need a waiver. A player can go all the way through fall camp, including scrimmages, but if he is injured before the first game and never participates, no waiver is required:

A petition is required if the student-athlete participated in any varsity or subvarsity contest, or any athletically-related activities (practice, team meetings, film study) after and including the first contest.  If a S-A participated in preseason practices, exhibitions or scrimmages only, a Medical Hardship Petition is not required.- OAC Medical Hardship Petition

If he participated in meetings, practice, etc. after the first game, he would need the waiver. However, I can't imagine him not getting it.

Wesleydad

i am certainly not an "expert" on game analysis. Many people on this board know much more than I. However; after watching nine games in Alliance this year, I am entitled to my own observations. You don' t have to read them if they bug you.
I have seen many "lucky" catches this year by several receivers. That's business as usual. When I say the safety was the result of the Mount defense, I truly think that's being honest. OK, If you say the teams were even, whatever. The score was not very even.
Like it or not.........Mount Union 12.   Mary Hardin Baylor 0.
I'll have no further comment on this subject. Good luck to Wesley in 2018!

MUC, no need to discuss Mount Union record v. Wesley as wesleydad has always been extremely objective. However, I do think UMU had the edge this year as the Crusaders were too one dimensional . Congrats to the Purple RaidersOh by the way Hobart is 2-2 against Mount Union, and looking forward to the rubber game  8-)

Not to get into a battle between Wesleydad and MUC, but for accuracy on the subject of the touchdown catch, I don't think luck was a part of it as I don't believe either of the MHB defenders ever touched the ball. Hill out-jumped both defenders and actually touched the ball first, sort of tipping it into the air, and then caught his own deflection as he landed.

The play was an amazing athletic play by a receiver that has proved to be highly skilled at catching the ball in difficult situations (as I had to witness vs UWO).
