Frank,

I have absolutely no issue with your interview with Poorman, and thought it was done fairly well.  Most (if not almost all) Mount fans, alums, & students wish him nothing but the best if/until UMHB plays Mount in the playoffs.

I did go to your twitter feed, and followed what you reported, what was said by whom, and what was not said.  From my perspective I heard a lot of legalese talk, say but don't say, "trust the process" type speak.  Can you say that you really think the FL incident has some correlation to what happened at Wheaton?  I mean I get the obvious but not anything else.

I haven't spoken to Jeff Jakmidis since before the new year, so I have no insight or knowledge as to what his position is regarding Fulford other than he is a Mount fan, and a big supporter of the kid.

Fulford clearly beat out Poorman in 2017.  Again, if it is your opinion that VK picked Fulford to just show dad who was boss, that is a position based on nothing but wild conjecture and pot stirring.  I can speak very confidently that at no time did that happen.

Question, are you heading down for the next court date?  Maybe do a CNN/FOX news "live outside the courthouse".  Seriously, I would tune in and follow you to find out the latest.  Your public needs information!

I was already down there on another assignment (actually two when you count JB's wedding that I ministered).  The value of those calendar calls is about nil, but I wanted to meet his attorney and speak with him.  His attorney actually couldn't stay and had another attorney cover for him to just get it pushed to an April 20 calendar call.  I had called his office once I realized it, and he called me back and understood as a fellow attorney, I had a decent take on what was happening and told me some things about status and Fulford's character in his words that I shared.  But honestly, those calendar calls would make for some boring "TV" reporting.

I'm not saying Fulford didn't beat Poorman out for the starting job because obviously, he started in 2017.  What that "beating" means in terms of how it was determined is the question.  1) However, what JB and I heard through our own research and connections does not tell me it was based on some of the things being spouted by people on this board.  And that's the thing -- with the level of privacy demanded by UMU, anyone claiming they know why a certain decision was made better be a coach or player.  Else, I don't buy it based on the history of dealings.  2) We're talking about a program that somehow has convinced its local newspaper that will report on a new scoreboard as a major story that the transfer of two quarterbacks in the same offseason, one to a 2016/2017 Finalist, isn't newsworthy enough to report on.  That was my point -- conjecture on decisions made at UMU is really not anything I base on reality lately.  It's a lot different when I have a library of documents to review and an interview with a player 3) and other contacts that give me some better perspective on how some stuff has played or may play out.

I do appreciate your compliment on the interview, as does JB.  Feel free to private message me if you'd like to expound on your source of information you refer to in your post.

1) so you talked to Poorman's dad?

2) You want The Review to give Poorman's transfer more coverage?  A ton of kids leave the Mount program year after year, just because one transfer desires more publicity doesnt mean that The Review should cover all of the transfers.

3) So Poorman's dad again?

A starting quarterback that enrolled early and came on board with as much buzz as Luke Poorman did (the airplane!) leaving the program to go play for Mount Union's chief rival in the chase for a national championship is not the same as the 8th LB on the depth chart leaving to go play for Wooster.  This is newsworthy.  The Review won't touch it because...well, we can guess.  And if they want to avoid dabbling into anything that might be not-so-great news for Mount Union, then so be it. They can run their shop how they see fit.  But nobody is wrong for calling them out for this milquetoast brand of "journalism".

Alliance is a small town and The Review is a small town newspaper. They won't touch it because its the backup QB at Mount. Is a backup transferring going to tarnish the Purple Raider program? nah. The metropolis of Canton covered the story, http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/20180406/mount-unions-luke-poorman-transfers-to-mary-hardin-baylor

But isn't worrying about newspaper coverage a thing of a bygone era?  In 2018 we have huge news breakers like the Inside the Huddle podcast and the internet for our news coverage

It's ironic that Merle has a Nationwide corporate email address he registered with here (note: it's in his profile, and as such, is public information).  "Nationwide is on your side?"

Merle is like the barancle I explained yesterday, on the side of a sinking ship.

As an aside, "Inside the Huddle" has been around for ten years.  Merle has been here for 7 months.  I wonder who will be around longer in the end.  I'm not taking wagers.

Per usual, your logic is backwards.  If this is newsworthy in the big city of Canton, then it should be huge news in the hamlet of Alliance.  The paper with the dedicated Mount Union beat not covering it is at best lazy, and at worst craven.

no.  I was being facetious about Canton covering it.  It's not newsworthy in Canton.  If you asked 100 people in Canton, who is Luke Poorman, I doubt more than 2 or 3 would know.  A backup QB at a D3 school is not newsworthy at all.  Only a dozen or so people really care.

C'mon, Wally.  Let's give Merle a break.  He's right.  I mean, even outside the Sports section, their newspaper is chock full of huge headlines everyday — much larger than this pedestrian news... Here's a recent sample:

Akron Beacon Journal sold to GateHouse Media

Composer, arranger now makes music with Marlington high vocal students

what are the huge headlines that Inside the Huddle breaks everyday?

your "breaking news" can't even garner coverage in a small town paper?  or gets buried in a slightly larger town paper?

Take a deep breath Frank.  It's just D3 football and a story about a backup, I'm sure you'll hit it big one day

Apparently they're big enough to get two NFL players and an NFL Network host to contribute with us on short notice last week.  Just sayin'.

what incredible interviews.  Quite the step up from just interviewing the fathers of D3 backup QB's.  Embrace that "success" Frank

Frank Rossi

The last time we interviewed a parent on "In the Huddle" was in 2015 — the mother of former NFL kicker Andrew Franks, to discuss his ascent into the NFL and how he was dealing with it.  If you'd like to give me a more recent example of us interviewing a parent on our show, please do so.  Else, I'd suggest you be very careful in the waters you're wading into.

As to success, as Wally says, you have it backward again.  My success in life is based on things outside D3 sports coverage.  Because of that success, I'm fortunate enough to be able to finance a podcast dedicated to promoting deserving student-athletes and reporting news stories when they arise.  This is my way and JB's way of giving back.  I get plenty of other camera time where I'm from, so trust me, it isn't about all that, unlike some Internet troll that's biggest claim is being an Internet bully.  Well, Buddy, welcome to my specialty: bullying the bully.  Unfortunately, you put the "bull" in "bully."

Does your "promoting of student-athletes" include making judgements about "drive and motivation" without talking to the student athlete?

I am not trying to bully you, I haven't said a single thing about your personal life, that would be you.  I haven't made any comments about your "daddy" or raised a question about your age.  That would be you once again.

I am just checking your journalistic integrity in regards to your comments about a D3 quarterback and his "drive and motivation" when it appears that you have never met the student.   Or is a requirement of being a "deserving student athlete" having a dad that is friends with a co-host of "Inside the Huddle"?  It was brought up in the podcast, but is now taboo on the boards.  How weird
