Ugh,
That was in bad taste.
UMHB fans, I really don't have an issue with the rings and I think it's great Coach F self-reported a likely minor issue.
It may be my new friendship with Merle that caused me to post without thought of other's feelings.

want to get friendship rings made?

three months without pay?  ouch.  I'm sure it was no big deal.....

if UMHB has to vacate the '16 title, does that make Mount back-to-back champs and working on a 3peat?

Pat Coleman

No idea what the NCAA would consider there in terms of a streak, but I am not sure anything from 2016 is at stake here.

Ha!  I wouldn't have thought that MUC begged for gifted titles, but you learn something new every day.

To be fair to Merle he's not asking for an additional title. He's just saying that technically if 16 was vacated the order would go
2015: Mount
2016: vacated
2017: Mount

Which I guess would make UMU "back to back" champs. But depends how you define "back to back".

no no no, Oshkosh would have the right to claim that title.  Mount would be contacting Jostens about their 2nd place ring packages

The NCAA rules are really confusing and sometimes absurd.  UMBH, if I read it right said the violations were major by NCAA standards.  That said, extra benefits can be a simple lunch furnished  during recruiting.

As far as second place rings, I wholeheartedly support anybody who wants to celebrate excellence this way.  Second place nationally, after a grueling playoff is nothing to sneeze at.  i believe I would get them for my team if I were a coach.  I am a Mount alum and fan, and feel that sometimes we can be a bit spoiled and uppity.  Look at teams that reach the pinnacle, the Stagg Bowl, never having been there before and not fortunate enough to win. A runner up ring is a tribute to getting there and being proud of your effort. Most teams get conference championship rings, Mount did before the National Championships began to add up.

If UMHB would have to vacate the championship, I believe that Oshkosh should be awarded the trophy.  They, in essence, win the Stagg Bowl, even if by default.

jeez, wonder what's going through Luke Poormans head today. Hopefully the NCAA doesn't hit them for additional sanctions. For his sake I mean.

If it takes the NCAA as long to come to a decision as it is taking them to resolve Stevens Point's men's basketball cheating Poorman will be long gone.

So much for Thomas More replacing Wilmington in the OAC.  Wild last couple of days in D3

I saw this one coming.  They have 7 road games in 2018 and travel to MN twice, NY, AL and in between.

The other option bandied about was moving up to Division 2.

Looks like OAC is now my home on the message boards.

can't we send Wilma to NAIA and take Thomas More in?  D3 Independent is no way to be.  Is NAIA just a stepping stone to NCAA D2?

I think there was a question for D2 about enrollment minimums and funding scholarships.  They aren't quite there yet.  Many of those current schools in the MidSouth are in Kentucky.  The conference footprint is Kentucky south through GA.  It will enable the school to continue to increase enrollment.

Selfishly, I'd have liked them to stay in D3 but they had nowhere to go.
