Was on campus recently and saw Geoff Dartt with a couple of other coaches. Just checked out his Twitter and it says he's a Mount Union coach again. I know he came back for medical treatment in Cleveland, so I hope all is well with him. It'll be nice to have him back on staff in any way, but I hope he takes care of himself first!

Coach Dartt is listed as ST Coordinator and TE Coach in this tweet:

K & J's Dad,

Thanks for the post, glad to see Coach Dartt back at Mount! :)

Geoff and Jan moved back to Alliance to be closer to the treatment Geoff has been getting at UH. They moved with Larry and Linda until about a month ago they moved into their own place.  I heard sometime back Vince added Geoff to the staff.

It is win Mount Union gets a great coach and Geoff got an opportunity to get back to work and at his pace work is way up on work load all while working for an organization that has a lot of respect for Geoff's value along with a lot of family love.

That's great news.  Hopefully the comfort provided by his return to such a supportive environment allow him to focus 100% on his health.  Anything he adds to the coaching staff is just a bonus.  Get well, Geoff!

I heard a bit of good news today that will gladden the hearts of the Deep Purple People. Word was that things are looking good for QB Fulford to be on time for camp with his legal troubles resolved. Source was solid.

As of right now, 12 depositions are scheduled between 8/1/18 and 8/8/18 for his case in Florida, with no other activity on the court docket.  The next calendar call is on 8/17/18.  If the case isn't resolved by then, it would likely be scheduled for trial.  There is no indication from the court yet that a resolution is imminent.  With respect to how this affects his camp status, it is doubtful it would affect it — his presence isn't necessary for depositions, assuming they occur, he is not required to appear at calendar calls, and a trial date wouldn't be scheduled until, most likely, October/November.  One would assume a deal would be reached before that, but again, we have no public indication of one in the works.

I'm not sure that there would be any "public" indication until the prosecutor stands up at a calendar call/pre-trial and announces that a deal has been reached.

Now hold on a minute BR, we are talking about the legal beagle that is the great Frank Rossi.  I am sure he's got the hookup with the prosecutor, so if a deal was "in the making" Frank would be the first to know.  It's how he rolls...   8-)

Very good point, I have no doubt Frank has sources in many a district attorney or in this case, state attorney's office.

I'm only reporting on what's verified currently in public records.  It would likely be necessary to file an amended schedule for depositions if they're being canceled.  None has been filed yet.  I'll continue to watch and update you if anything changes.

The poster who posted about some sort of positive momentum or deal being reached is the same guy who posted in December that the Florida case was going to be swiftly resolved.  Eight months later, we're still waiting for a resolution and/or his retraction.  So it's necessary to balance rumors with what's presently on the record.

Dr. Acula

I saw the short video of the new turf practice fields.  That'll definitely be nice going forward.  They already had some HS camps on it this week.  It said it will be called the Sean Moore Practice Field at Wable Park.  It looked like they were still doing stuff around the field so I'm not sure if that's just clean up work or if there is something more to "Wable Park."

"Quickly",  in Broward County in way different than "Quickly."  Remember, he was in high school when this allegedly occurred, and damn near on Social Security when the prosecutors got around to attempting to prosecute the case.

I was hoping the Fulford case would be resolved by now. I don't know the scope of the accusation(s) - merely the charge from the warrant - or the role he allegedly played - but the fact that it still has not seen the inside of a court room or reached a plea deal, IMHO, signals it is not the 'boys will be boys' and 'goofing around' that others have claimed. Granted, I didn't think it was that from the beginning. Sorry - again I do not have any details - but (for example) putting a towel over someones head, duct taping their hands, arms and legs and hauling them out of their room in the middle of the night to an unknown location  is a laundry list of crimes that include unlawful restraint and kidnapping . Just because you added a broom stick up the arse and said "welcome to the team" doesn't suddenly make it a fun game for kids of all ages and a joke. The above is not from Fulfords case but is a compilation of some of the recent hazing cases in the news (HS and college).

I read about things like this now from the perspective of my kid being the victim (a few of y'all ought to try that) - and my advise to them would not be "suck it up". Sorry - but when lines are crossed - it is a crime. It doesn't matter to me that he was in HS when it happened. The case would have been resolved back then - but his family fled before he appeared in court. It doesn't matter that he thought it was resolved - it wasn't and he knew it was out there. Therefore, the arguments about how long ago it was are ridiculous. It was that long ago because he fled. It doesn't go away if you ignore it - it gets worse. I thought we all learned that in health class?

In other news - jcu's new AD...the comments. I know the scope wasn't limited to football however. Go ahead and keep telling yourself that their are other fish to fry. Maybe in other sports. But in football? No. There. Aren't. Her comment was the Tommie in her talking. As a Tommie there are other fish (like Johniies, etc to fry). You can't worry about Mount until you get to them by frying the other fish. As a Tommie she can say that. As a Blue Streak - she can't.

For JCU - there are no Tommies, Johnnies, Cru, UWW, UWO. To get a shot at any of them you have to beat Mount. Sure you can schedule one of them to open. Doesn't matter if you win or lose - means nothing. Because if you can't beat MOUNT - you more than likely won't make the playoffs anyway. And if you don't make the playoffs - you can't win a championship. And no championships means NOT A NATIONAL POWER. Mount isn't like the other fish - Mount ate them. They are the big friggin' FISH that will prevent you from becoming a national power. And they are in your conference. No other team matters if your jcu. You want titles and national recognition - you have to beat Mount. They are the key to all of that. My .02 cents.
