Why do you capitalize "Otterbein" but not "mount"?  Oh, I get it. Never mind! just curious. ☠🏈

Week 1 results of the 2018 OAC Pick-Em have been posted.  As expected, the OAC went 9-1 in their non-conference week and every pick-em player got at least half of the available points.  Leading the way with a perfect 12 was wally_wabash, one better than FCGrizzliesGrad and Raider 68.

I forgot to post our roster of champions last week, so let me do that now to remind you that reality check is going for a three-peat.

Nothing malicious! I'm just using my phone right now, and Otterbein auto capitalized and mount didn't. I'm usually a stickler for grammatical correctness, but I was too lazy to correct today lol

Went over to Marietta for a second game last night and the Pioneers didn't look too bad. Hard to tell what the quality of opposition was, Geneva was a one trick pony running the triple option. Marietta probably let them have too many yards for being ahead like they were. Still a good win and the Pioneers should have no problems with Capital. League will be pretty good this year. Marietta will not challenge the best but at least they are respectable. Was impressed with the stadium and the turnout also. Most of Marietta must have show up for the game and fireworks afterwards.

I know it wasn't malicious. I wasn't really making a big deal out of it. Just having fun with you. I know you are one of the jcu good guys. Go Streaks, that is, until 9/22/18. Then it's Go Raiders! Wait, it's Go Raiders right now. Actually, it's always Go Raiders! It was Go Raiders in 2016, though when a corrupt officiating crew, through a series of unimaginable calls, caused a major upset. I couldn't believe my eyes at those calls. It was..........!
Oh, never mind. "The moving finger writes, and having writ moves on". Thank you to the Rubiyat.
When you guys remind us of that game, I have the perfect comeback, harsh as it may be. "Oh yeah"!
How's that, Mr Streak?
This may be rather long and perhaps somewhat convoluted, but remember - I'm old. I get mixed up and I forget things. In any case, Go Everybody!

Watched part of the JV game today. Played Hocking College, a Jr. College in Nelsonville, Ohio. From their size, we thought they might be a Dll school before we found out.
Just drove thru campus and asked a fan the final score.he was pretty sure it was 60-8, favor of the Raiders. Sounds reasonable since when I left, at the end of the 1st quarter, the score was 27-0.
Guess we'll find out for sure. ☠🏈

The Oline needs some more work I agree, but RHIT had the NCAA all divisions sack leader last year and he was pretty much handled all night. Fulfords passes look like his velocity has increased but I didnt think he had much arc on his throws last year either. I dont think his style is gonna change any time soon. To RHITs credit the backups did not play early in the second half. Thats pretty rare for an opening game.

Concerning the fair catch on kickoff rule, does the rule state that a kick that makes contact with
the turf and goes 10 yards cannot be faircaught like trick onsidekicks were? If so, teams probably drvekick the ball through a gap and still give up less field position. I know the rule is injury driven but you can just not field the ball and let it go for a touchback already, or let it go out of bounds. Im not in favor of this rule change. How bout you?

Pat Coleman

Yes, you cannot fair catch a ball after it hits the turf.

Pat,

I thought I understood this new rule as well, but explain this situation, please.  In Brockport-Hobart game yesterday, kick receiver on Brockport caught the ball around the 20, and took a knee.  The ref spotted the ball there.  I thought that it was supposed to be advanced to the 25, essentially a touchback.    ???

Did he signal fair catch or just catch it and take a knee?

Good question. I saw him take a knee, didn't see a fair catch sign, but my buddy next to me said he did. Taking a knee in the end zone is good enough for a touchback, I guess the same doesn't apply inside the 25
