Is it too early to crank up the rumor mill on this one? ;D I heard Moeglin spit on an officer, Disbrow kicked a police dog and the other two held the lady next door hostage while trying to escape. Ah John Carroll Brew-niversity.
In fairness, the lady next door was probably the one that called it in. A more worthy hostage never existed!!
In my day (way back from 2009-13 lol), that party would have been rookie hour. We were smart enough to have the parties away from Warrensville Rd. On the weekends, that street was all freshman wondering around looking for the party. Upper classmen tended to keep the parties on the down low as to avoid having freshmen (aka, morons) show up. This new generation has a lot to learn lol!
On a side note, I like the John Carroll Brew-niversity name. I Have often said we Catholics can drink everyone else under the table (especially students with Irish, Italian, and German backgrounds) , so in theory, we should be the best drinkers in the conference!  ;D

+K for that one. Funny! Of course The JCB ( ;D) might be now that Hiram is gone from the OAC. Have you been to Hiram? Hit G'ville Friday by 10 before everything closes and buy up for the weekend.

I just think our values are a bit off when we don't burn Nike shoes because they are made in an under-developed country with child labor paid pennies on the dollar - but we burn them because Colin K is in the ad?

We should burn them for both reasons! :)

I am a Vet. 2 tours, 2 wars (Desert Storm, and OIF). The flag we all insist he and others stand for is the same flag that represents his freedom not to. The flag is a cloth - red, white and blue. That's all it is. Arrange the pattern differently and it is the flag of France, or England or Russia. The physical thing doesn't mean anything more - however it stands as the symbol of the very freedoms we hold in such high regard. It is the symbol of Freedom - freedom of speech, of the press, freedom to peaceably assemble and protest, freedom to stand, or sit, or kneel. I didn't join the Army because of the flag - and I didn't go to war for the flag - I did it because I value the freedoms the flag represents. One of those freedoms is, like it or not, the freedom to protest the flag and even to burn the flag. I think when it comes to the flag we get blinded by the symbol of it, the visual of it and in so doing lose site of what the flag itself stands for.

Does it bother me when I see people kneel or not remove their hats? Absolutely. Do I teach my kids to stand and remove their hats, and be quiet as the flag passes or the Anthem is played? Yes I do. But I also tell them that the flag and anthem are not what is important - its what they represent that has to upheld and honored. Even if an idiot decides to light it on fire in protest - or to kneel during the anthem - Veterans fought for their freedom to do that.

I'm on OEF guy myself and I absolutely agree with you. It's not the flag itself, it's the symbolism of the flag.

The irony of it all is "oppression". Yet we live in a country where you can protest against the government and are protected against punishment for the protest.

Are we perfect? No.. However, we are a country where we have rights and can have our own opinions and have rights and protections guaranteed to us by the Constitution.

Hard to gauge since I don't know much about Borregos Monterrey - not just the Rams, but the Wild Rams. The offense looked somewhat predictable.

In all seriousness - anything to the jcu thing? I know it forwarded to Dean of Students but could this have any impact of them playing? I know its a party - but I also know that D3 schools usually hold athletes to a higher standard than their D1 counterparts - and they do have charges and a court date.

Memo to the players: DON'T SKIP YOUR COURT DATE!!! And if you do - DON'T DRIVE ANYWHERE!  ;D

I have not heard of an update, but I know the Court Date is 9/12. I will say this though, if they keep in line with punishments from when I was there, they would be looking at a fine and maybe required community service.

We'll see though.

Indeed! Don't skip your court date.

Amazed by the amount of snark (on Twitter, not here) about why we haven't posted something on the front page about this college party/disturbing the peace. Pretty sure reasonable people know there is a difference between that and the major stories that made our front page in 2017.

My initial thought:   must've been a slow night in U Heights for the 5-0

Every night is a slow night in the UH for the Fuzz... Nothing has changed. The worst one's are the neighbors.. John Carroll has been at this campus since the 1920's (we were in Cleveland specifically before then) and yet they act like JCU is the new ones there. I remember an op-ed a woman wrote my senior year complaining "about how loud kids were walking to and from parties, because her bedroom window was 10 ft. from the sidewalk." Of course my initial reaction was that there is not one bedroom window in the suburbs that is 10 ft. away from a sidewalk. She then went on to say that her house "had been egged by College kids in the past". Now please tell me, what college kid with a budget is going to waste their money on eggs to throw at houses?? This coupled with the fact that routinely in the winter we'd see HS kids drive around and throw snowballs at drunk college kids going to and from parties (because pedestrians are an easy target). The worst part of her op-ed was, and I quote "are we a college town, or a town with a college in it? I used to think it was the first". Excuse me ma'am, you live in University Heights and you knew the school was here when you moved in..

Sorry for rambling, there has been and probably always be an uneasy tension between UH and JCU students. We're by no means angels, but come on are we supposed to pretend that these complainers didn't have their fun in college as well?

As for the town, you have to think that you signed up for it when you moved to University Heights. Amirite?  ;D

Almost as bad as the people who move near an airport and Sue about the flight path noise.

A little off, but below is her direct quote...

"Are we a college town or a town with a college in it? I always thought it was the latter, but I'm beginning to wonder. If you are living in one of the lucky residential areas that has not yet been affected by this ever-growing problem, stay tuned because it's coming to a neighborhood near you soon.

John Carroll, are you listening?"

Apparently we were part of "an ever-growing" problem... Who knew? Almost makes me feel like this is how the Irish felt in the 1840's...  :-\
