they sound lethargic so far...

They look it too.  Not so much the defense.  They're playing well.

Agreed. Both defenses are playing really well, in fact.

Very well.  JCU is stuffing the run game (aside from scrambles) and also doing a nice job in coverage.  Fulford seems uncomfortable even when he has a pocket probably because he's expecting a Streak coming from somewhere that he doesn't see.

103 yds in penalties in the first half.  Yikes.  Better clean that up big time.

After JCU was called for holding on the 4th down TD play, did anyone else see #8 for JCU making the obscene gesture on the Video Broadcast?

We've seen plenty of games where Mount's defense outscored the opposition's offense.

But I don't know how many games we've seen where Mount's defense outscored the opposition's offense AND outscored Mount's offense.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to pay the $10 for the video stream today..

If it makes a difference this is a TV game so it's the full blown broadcast with Shreve and Harry.

Where are the "TV Games" broadcast, now that STO isn't carrying them?

It's still on STO as well as whatever local channel they put it on.  The big difference is it's no longer on STO later tonight like it used to be.  It's probably not on until Sunday or Monday.

Mount Union's offense better get things together... Of course we've got about 2 months to figure it out. Fulford didn't look comfortable in the pocket, throws were off and when they were on our receivers didn't make plays. Just a sloppy game, but that's because of the pressure John Carroll put on them. JCU could've won that game had that receiver not blatantly held Berry. Definitely things to work on. Hopefully JCU or BW can win out and put another OAC team in the playoffs.

From watching online, I feel like Canganelli probably doesn't get into the end zone without the hold.

I just got back from the game.  Skunk had the day off, I wasn't traveling so we were able to take it in.  From my  perspective JCU is one solid team.  Their D is for real, and Moeglin is one tough SOB & is pretty accurate when he has time to throw.  People were questioning on whether they were ranked too high at #15, but I would say there are there if not a bit better even than that.

Fulford was just a bit off all day.  JCU had something to do with that, but he also missed two WIDE OPEN TD passes down the field.  He & Hill were jawing at each other on the sideline at one point so it looked to me like there were some issues out there.  The one O coach grabbed Fulford and pulled him away from the argument to also give the kid a piece of his mind.

I hope Mount gets a few competitive games the rest of the regular season because they need the competition to get better.  A win is a win so I will take it!  Great crowd today and that is what Saturday's are suppoed to feel like.

Thanks for the recap. I wasn't there and didn't watch. In your opinion did Mount get out with a win in this one or is it one of those that the score doesn't tell the story? Just curious

My biggest concern after today is that I'm not sure anyone in the OAC is going to push the Mount defense.  Even JCU, while good, is not what they are when they're at their best.  There were no game breakers out there.  To my untrained eye it looked like the talent at the skill positions was down for them.  Kukura was barely used probably in large part due to the fact that he just isn't quick enough to combat Mount's team speed.  Canganelli played a really nice game, but he was basically their entire offense (rushing and receiving).  The JCU WR's were invisible all day.  Part of that is a credit to Mount getting pressure, but part is they just couldn't get open.  Canganelli caught two passes well downfield and those were literally their only decent pass plays all day I think.

The JCU D gave Mount a lot of stuff to work on.  Fulford seemed indecisive today (if that's the right word).  He just didn't seem comfortable ever.  Threw off his back foot quite a bit.  The most decisive he was was on the handful of plays where he dropped back, saw a lane open and took off running.  He made some very smart reads on a few of those plays.  He just seemed off in terms of his accuracy and his timing with his WR's today.  They'll get it figured out.  Credit to JCU for pressuring him all day.

D played great.  Roesch had a really nice game getting pressure repeatedly.  Williams just has a nose for the football.  He's always around the ball.  I did not notice McComb in there today (saw Brunson and Meacham mostly).  Hopefully he is okay.

Also, I noticed Ruth was not playing today.  Hope he is good to go soon.

Get a win and come out of it with plenty of stuff to work on.  That's not a bad day for the long term.
