Thank goodness Mount won yesterday. I wouldn't know how to start the chant, "Whose House? Streaks House!"
Great game, tho! ☠🏈

By the way, how was the wedding you and your "brother" attended? You two probably had a better time than at the game. Mount Union Stadium is not a very friendly place for visiting teams. I do hope JCU wins out and makes the playoffs. Best to the Streaks on the rest of the season.

The wedding was a blast! Probably over 300 people were there. I caught the final score after the ceremony. The loss is unfortunate, but Mount sometimes wins championships by more than 13, and it sounds like we legitimately had chances to win. Now, it's about getting pool C, and if we win out, I think that's a very strong possibility. Especially if ONU and BW end the season regionally ranked (2-1 vs. RR opponents). And maybe Stevens Point can do us a solid and win the WIAC lol! Point is, a 9-1 record with a close loss to Mount very likely gets you a first round hosting, so assuming they play the way they should, the playoffs are well with in reach!

JCU played a great game. Their d-line had Fulford scrambling all day. Moeglin is a super QB. Lots of good athletes wearing blue and gold. Win out and hopefully you'll extend your season. Go Streaks and Raiders! ☠🏈

The wedding was good as Bluestreak66 mentioned. After seeing the ONU Otterbein score, and reading up on this game, I am feeling more confident about their chances to make a playoff run.

Glad you guys had a good time at the wedding. I had a great time at the game. Actually, I'm too old for that kind of a game. I think my heart stopped several times. I realize your big rival is BW, but UMU and JCU seem to have a pretty good rivalry going.
Anyhoo, win out and probably play on. Go Streaks! (Not sure what a Blue Streak is but I'm also not sure what a Purple Raider is either)! ☠🏈

Onward on, John Carroll

I could not tell if the lack of offense was due to great defense or a lack of imaginativeness and execution on the part of the two offenses.  I sure did get frustrated with the JCU play calling at times but perhaps that was necessary given what we were facing with the Mount defense/what they were giving us.

It sure would be nice to make the playoffs but that is no guarantee.  BW and Northern will be tests, no doubt, and any hiccups will derail the playoff dream immediately.  I remember more than a couple teams in the late 1990s and early 2000s which lost to Mount in close games, only to drop one more and cost themselves a playoff berth (1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 were all pretty good Mount games followed by losses to another league team or two).

You were frustrated with the JCU play calling? We were feeling the same way at Mount's play calling. I'm up in the stands knowing what is about to be called. In some ways, Mount was lucky to get out with a win. JCU came to play and it showed. As I told your buddies on these boards, win out and hopefully you make the playoffs. Mount's pretty good. Any team that plays that well against them probably deserves a playoff shot. Good luck the rest of the season. ☠🏈

JCUStreaks70,
I realize your big rival is BW

Last weekend of the season:  BW/JCU.

Could be Y-U-U-U-G-E!

I didn't have a problem with the play calling.  What I had a problem with was Fulford's happy feet.  He's not accurate, nor are most QB's, when he doesn't step into the throw.  Even when there wasn't pressure he assumed there was and he threw the ball too quickly and off his back foot.  There were multiple times that the WR had the DB beaten by a couple steps and Fulford over threw it horribly.  Yes, the JCU pass rush was very good, but not to the point that he had no shot at all to complete a pass.  I'd rather have him impatient and running too soon than just chucking the ball off his back foot.   The way he played the Stagg last year against MHB's rush was impressive.  This past Saturday not so much.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Yeah! You said it better than I could. Fulford did do a lot of back foot stuff. And missed some wide open receivers. But, apparently UMHB's QB had the same problem, although they had some weather to deal with. Maybe it was just not a day for QBs. Hope that was D'Angelo's bad day for the year. After all he's done, I won't panic. And I'm sure you won't either. Go Raiders! ☠🏈

I mean no disrespect to JCU on this one. They played a great game.....HOWEVER - I agree with the previous statements: the DBs were beat multiple times and overthrown. The Stagg comparison is a good one. Yes the Stagg was 12-0 Mount but it could have been much worse if Fulford was on target then - I never (having seen the Stagg 486 times) got the impression that UMHB could have won that game. Having seen the Mount JCU game (via video delay) - it was closer to being 35+ to 10 than it was to a JCU win.

Yes - the JCU pass rush had a ton to do with Fulford being happy in the feet, but he isn't always like that. Maybe he lacks confidence in the oline and felt the need to do more, maybe not having Ruth across the middle to go to made him antsy. Point is that the targets were there. I don't feel as nervous about this one now that I have seen it.

Side note to JCU fans - don't lay an egg against ONU/BW and if the pairings pan out this could be a semi or final rematch. That would be HILARIOUS! Stagg Bowl in Texas......and both teams from Ohio. At least we will be evenly matched in the "white fat cell" category and thus equally impacted by the heat!
