Outside the MUC-Berg game, every other contest was -- surprisingly -- a one-score victory.  If you had taken the points in every game in this week's OAC Pick-Em, then you'd be a happy individual.  D3Poster came the closest to perfection with 13 of 15 points and was the only player to nail all five OAC games.  thunderdog was one back with an even dozen.

After three straight weeks atop the overall standings, wesleydad has been supplanted by Raider68, albeit only by the slimmest of margins.

Week #9 spreads come out Monday night.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Hi! Random thing here. Watching the highlights of Mount Union and Heidelberg. On the field goal from Mount Union, is it just me, or are those goalposts leaning to the right? If so, seems like that should be fixed. Especially before the likely playoffs. Thoughts? Talk to Larry? :)

They've always been wobbly, but at that moment the don't was probably gusting around 25 mph at least with rain.

Watching OSU last night reinforced how much Mount has spoiled me as a sports fan.  25+ years of excellence has ruined me.  Mount hasn't always won, nor have they always been the superior collection of talent, but it's very rare to have seen them play for 60 minutes and look as unprepared or as inept as OSU has looked this season.

My head about exploded when on 4th and 1, the OSU defense left the C and RG uncovered with LB's at normal depth.  Gee, I wonder what the offense is going to do?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I thought the same thing. I never thought I'd see this OSU staff under Meyer become so complacent. One thing I love about UMU coaching staff is that they are always looking to make themselves better, even when they win. Also, players become an UM favorite and they never lose their starting spot when it should at least be open. I thought both cultures were similar, but I guess not anymore.

New Top 25 is out.  MTU regained one a first place vote.

Parity or weakening of the conference?

I want to lean towards parity.
However, I turned 60 this past week, so "I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody!"

Well, all I can say then is:  Thank God you're no longer telling pilots where to go.

I thought Ohio State played great Saturday night, except for blocking and tackling.

Well, and scoring.

OMG, Purdue was beaten by Eastern Michigan! :o ;D

As a fan of "that school up north", I'm feeling a lot more confident after what we did to MSU, and what Purdue did to OSU. :)

Nah.  Just before yesterday I had little hope; now I have plenty of hope. :)

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! What do you mean you're old, get mixed up and forget things? Oh yeah, and Go Everybody. That's my stuff! Besides, you're ONLY 60. I graduated from Mount Union before you were born. Now that's old!
Oh, what the hell! Maybe you DO get mixed up and forget things. That's OK! It's actually nice to have company in my advanced state of mental degradation.
Happy Birthday! I wish you many more. And by the way, Go Raiders! ☠🏈😀

Forgot! "La multi ani" (happy birthday in Romanian) 🍺

We noticed the goal posts were rocking as well, but it was due to a very stiff wind.  We remarked the FG attempt may have to be read like a putt on a sloping green.  Hit it four feet outside the left uppright and it will blow through.

Some belated thoughts on Saturday...

I don't know why, but it still doesn't seem like the offense has a good rhythm.  The early part of the game was a battle of wills with Mount feeding Petro and Berg geared up to stop the run.  The worrisome thing is that they were able to neutralize Petro for the most part.  I'm not expecting his normal 8 ypc with Berg zeroed in on him, but there seemed to be quite a few 1-2 yarders in there.  Fulford smartly read that and kept the ball for large chunks several times.

The defense played their normal excellent game including completely suffocating Berg in the first half (I think they had around 20 yds at half?)  I was concerned about the D line play coming into this year with all the new faces, but Roesch is emerging as a disruptive force.  Another guy who doesn't start, but seems to cause problems is Brunson at DT.  This group of LB is one of the best I've seen.  Robinson we knew was a stud, but Williams is breaking out at MLB.  He is just always around the ball making plays.

I mentioned him a few weeks ago, but Britt made two more outstanding plays as gunner on punt coverage.  He caught two punts inside the 5 to pin Berg deep including the one he caught inside the 1 to set up the safety.  Special teams plays like that can be the difference in playoff games.

I hope Gabe Brown was just dinged up and it's nothing serious.  They need him in the playoffs.
