Points were tough to come by in Week 9 of the 2018 OAC Pick-Em.  The average score was six of the potential 15 points; the only person to crack double-digits was rscl70 with ten.

Raider68's reign atop the standings was brief; gobash83 has slipped into the top spot as we head into the penultimate week of the season.

Week #10 spreads come out Monday night.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

I just read a tweet from yesterday from Jeff Zup.  D'Angelo Fulford in his last two road games is 32 of 37, 608 yards, and 13 passing TD's.  I know we have to consider the competition, but that is some insanely great QB play!  I have noticed (from afar as I haven't watched the last few games that closely) that Fulford seems to be more ready to run recently, which I think has opened up the passing game, and even Petro a bit more.

All time passing TD leaders
Borchert = 189
Burke = 134
Ballard = 118
Smeck = 109
Fulford = 83

Now that is good company!

Agree 100 percent! Fulford seems to know the defenses better and be more decisive. His decisiveness in running more has definitely led to more favorable coverage on Ruth, Hill, Herrington and open lanes for Petro. Defenses have to choose what to try to take away, run or pass, unless you have the athletes to try both. Looks like they're getting closer to where they need to be.

Fullford continues to develop as a QB and the Mount choaches placed even more emphasis this year for D'Angelo to proceeds info he gets from the pre snap reads. D'Angelo Is already dangerous as a QB and as he gets better and better at processing this info D'Angelo will only get better and better as a top notch QB. With UMU's multiple dangerous wide receivers this will cause major challenges for teams trying to defend UMU's passing attack.

D'Angelo Fulford was recorded after yesterday's game saying "I look at the coverage before the snap and try to see what they are going to do. Then I just want to make sure I make the right throw and I let the receivers do the rest, They are pretty good."

 Count Dracula.....1998 was Gary Smeck's sophomore year and he really didn't play like the All-American he became until the second half of the Championship game in Salem.  The 1998 team was carried by Jason Hall, our great middle linebacker. I would agree it was one of LK's best coaching jobs but there was an incredible amount of just plain good luck. The 1998 team had no business winning the National Championship. They are my all time favorite Mount Union team. A bunch of guys named "joe" and Jason Hall.

Well said. Can you call kids that age "the kardiac kids"? If you can, they were. Like you said, "a bunch of guys named "joe" and Jason Hall". Good post and a +k!

Anybody hear a JV score? I left at the half with the score - UMU 3 / JCU 7.

Hey guys,

I've been pretty absent this season on the message board but wanted to share.  I'm dealing with some significant happenings in life right now that some on here know about and that's been a challenge but football and specifically coaching have been my respite.  We just finished our regular season out here at Apache Junction High School in AZ and I couldn't be happier with my young men and their effort.  We won last night to finish the regular season 7-3, 5-0 in our region.  Last year we won a region title for the first time since 1983 and last night we sealed our second straight region championship which has never been done in school history.  I know it's not OAC-related but I wanted to make a proof of life appearance and brag about my boys.

On or off the field, you have my support and/or congratulations ... whichever is appropriate
We are overdue getting some wings together.  New Haven was a long time ago, wasn't it?

Was pulling for the third OAC team to be ranked this late in the season (BW) ... so close!  Perhaps next week.

raiderpa

Would like Pat's opinion on BW making the playoff field if they win out.  Probably a very long shot, but I don't know the ins and outs of the selection process.  Thanks in advance.

Pat Coleman

If they win out, they're 9-1 with a win vs. John Carroll so, on paper, they would be a good candidate. It will depend on the rest of the field, though, of course.

The yearly tradition of Browns cleaning house is happening today. This Browns fan is hoping the GM can convince a certain graying Alliance citizen out of retirement....

Absolutely agree.  By Mount standards that was a rag tag bunch in 98.  Smeck was learning on the job (and trying to fill Borchert's shoes).  They did a RB by committee thing with us getting our first looks at an emerging Chuck Moore.  They just figured out a way to keep winning.  That Stagg Bowl was fantastic too because that was the year Rowan had that transfer QB from ND/MSU.

I'll just add on to your comment and clarify it.

Today, the Clevelend Browns fired their coach.
Today, the Cleveland Cavaliers fired their coach.

Vince Kehres was NOT fired by his father.

Is this a great area for sports or what?

I did just hear on ESPN that the coaching search for Browns includes college coaches and the two at the top of that list are Urban (freaking) Meyer and Matt Campbell.
