I just read a tweet from yesterday from Jeff Zup.  D'Angelo Fulford in his last two road games is 32 of 37, 608 yards, and 13 passing TD's.  I know we have to consider the competition, but that is some insanely great QB play!  I have noticed (from afar as I haven't watched the last few games that closely) that Fulford seems to be more ready to run recently, which I think has opened up the passing game, and even Petro a bit more.

All time passing TD leaders
Borchert = 189
Burke = 134
Ballard = 118
Smeck = 109
Fulford = 83

Now that is good company!

Agree 100 percent! Fulford seems to know the defenses better and be more decisive. His decisiveness in running more has definitely led to more favorable coverage on Ruth, Hill, Herrington and open lanes for Petro. Defenses have to choose what to try to take away, run or pass, unless you have the athletes to try both. Looks like they're getting closer to where they need to be.

Fullford continues to develop as a QB and the Mount choaches placed even more emphasis this year for D'Angelo to proceeds info he gets from the pre snap reads. D'Angelo Is already dangerous as a QB and as he gets better and better at processing this info D'Angelo will only get better and better as a top notch QB. With UMU's multiple dangerous wide receivers this will cause major challenges for teams trying to defend UMU's passing attack.

D'Angelo Fulford was recorded after yesterday's game saying "I look at the coverage before the snap and try to see what they are going to do. Then I just want to make sure I make the right throw and I let the receivers do the rest, They are pretty good."

I took a quick look at the stats for all of D3.  Fulford is 3rd in the nation with 29 TD passes.  He is first by a wide margin in passing efficiency.

It's Musky week so we need some fodder for discussion.  So here's a question....is Fulford the most talented QB ever at Mount?  I'm not asking if he's the best QB ever.  I'm asking if you were building a QB in a lab is he the closest to your perfect QB?

Greg Micheli.

Was a scholarship recruit as a safety but wanted to play QB.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

  If DeAngelo Fulford goes undefeated the rest of the way, and wins three National Championships, he will certainly rank at the top. It's really not a short list. It is one hell of a list. He's got 22 games to go. Truth is; he might just do it, he's that good.

I am still not sold that we can run the ball with any consistency against a national power defense.

I agree that they aren't there yet, but if Fulford makes decisions like he did Saturday running and throwing, lanes will be open. Like the Stagg Bowl last year, we had a difficult time on offense vs UMHB, but that was it during the playoffs. Don't forget that people have to be able to score on UMU as well. I know the defense gave up 21 to ONU, but it just seems that the D gets tighter come playoff time. Cautiously optimistic about the offense.

Yeah but we're not judging DB raw talent we're saying talent as a QB. I'd have to go with Ballard since he had the most success at the pro level.

Micheli May have been the best all around athlete to play QB for mount though. Unless you count Cecil Shorts :) but he had very limited time at the position.

Fulford has a tough history to follow.  If Mount wins it this year (which is in doubt), and shows well next year, YAH..maybe.  There are certain people that just don't like/appreciate/accept him at the level of other QB's that have played at Mount.  I get it, but I will tell you if he does what I think he will do, he will be in the best 1-3 ever.  PERIOD.  The kid is a baller and will do what it takes to win.

SS = Fulford cheerleader!  Yah...I am good with that.

I think Id rather have Taurice Scott than Fulford anyday of the week.

Taurice may be one of my all time favorite Purple Raiders. He was willing to do anything and he excelled at receiver and quarterback. It was so much fun watching him play bc the offense was always one play away from scoring at any time.

IMO, Fulford will make it into the top 5 QBs based on his desire to succeed. He will keep getting better and put up numbers for sure. It would be difficult to decide which who he would bump, but I won't compare until he is done.

Top 5 (Alphabetically)?

Ballard
Borchard
Burke
Micheli
Smeck

I think I'd put any of them above Fulford at this time.  Put any of them with this talent pool and they'd do as well as, or better than Fulford.

Nothing against D'Angelo, just think that all five of these are better options.

kurt rocco was impressive, he never really gets talked about. I guess one year starters are kinda rare at mount.

I feel like the big game this week might be BW and Northern. How does everyone think this game will go? Am I alone in thinking ONU might actually pull off the upset?
