Word is Fulford has anhigh ankle sprain.

If that is true, ouch.  Burkes is going to have to come into his own fast.

I'm sure they can take care of business for the first two weeks of the playoffs regardless of QB though

I thought those usually took 3-4 weeks, but if he can get back in 3 if he is not pressed into action in anyway, Mount just needs to find a way to make due the first two games. Hopefully Berry and the Defense can keep outscoring the other team by themselves.

If I might hazard to find a silver lining, this will force the team to get their ground game together. It has seemed to be more of a complement to the Pass O this year rather than the primary attack of Rush Offenses of previous iterations.

Louis Berry has two more defensive TDs today (1 by INT, 1 by FR).

Please give him the DIII National Defensive Player of the Year trophy already.

3rd Quarter.

I said this exact thing after Berry got his 2nd touchdown today. I'm not sure about other defensive players stats, but he's scored touchdowns, strip sacks, blocked kicks, interceptions... He's everywhere! With my complete lack of medical knowledge, I think Fulford will be back out there in 2 weeks. He was walking on it to the locker room. If not, we can run a nice rpo offense with Burkes. I'm not concerned yet.

With St Thomas losing, is there any chance BW could slide into the playoffs? I know lots would have to happen.

On Fulford...It could be eerily similar to the 2011 playoff game against Wabash where LK knew Wabash couldn't score enough so he just took the air out of the ball when injury forced a freshman Burke into the game. They just ran read option with Burke the rest of the game.

For some God forsaken reason I decided to go to the Mount game.  Ugh, what happened to fall?  The wind was nasty cold.

As I watched Fulford hobble off the field my first thought was "boy, it would be nice to have Luke Poorman as the back-up.....".

My second thought after watching a few series with Ernie "trying" to throw was "yup, Poorman would be a nice back-up".

My third thought was Fulford better be back soon!  Yikes.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

And yes, those were my only thoughts on the day!

I believe you! As I was watching the live stats I had some very similar thoughts. If some of the other posters are right in that Fulford was already putting weight on it before the end of the game, he may have just strained it rather than sprained it. If so, a 3-week timetable is already moved up 2 weeks. Sit out the first game to get him to 100%, and then be ready to go.

Can Mount call Dom Davis back up from its minor league team at Walsh, since the season there is done?  He's well-rested.

No offense at all after Fulford went out.  Burkes is great running the ball in garbage time but not as an effective back up.

Were Poorman still at Mount he would have his chance to be the hero who saves a championship progaram.  Unfortunately there is no Poorman on Mount's roster.

Here's hoping Fulford heals quickly.
12-0 = 13

Believe it or not, a poster on the American Southwest Conference board just reported that Poorman had to leave today's UMHB game due to a . . . . . . . . . .  foot injury.

One word....SCRAPING.  It's the most painful, horrible, but effective way to recover from an ankle sprain.  Jr. went through it in both his last two years in HS.  If D Fulford can't play by week 3 of the playoffs, I am thinking it will be quite the challenge for the Raiders.

This could be one of the more interesting playoff runs for Mount.

Ugh.

The Mount backup appeared to have trouble gripping the football and his passes were off target and fluttering. What a shame to have this receiving corp and not be able to get the ball to them.
The opponents will pack the box and make him throw.  Perhaps Ruth and company can break a bubble screen or two, if the ball gets to them.
I think the third guy is a better passing option.
