I'm not going to panic about the QB situation yet.  First, we don't even know anything about the injury.  Second, Mount made it to Belton and went toe to toe with UMHB with a 3rd string freshman QB and a not great (by their standards) D.  It's certainly not ideal, but even if they played Moore I think they win the first two rounds.  He's been playing JV QB all year.  If a rematch with JCU comes so be it.  JCU is average offensively, especially in the passing game.  We saw that already.  We aren't BW.  They can't just hand it off to Cangenelli all day and bank on him running for 250+ like last week.  A JCU rematch would be a dog fight between two very good defenses.  I don't know who would be favored, but I certainly don't think that's an insurmountable task for either team to win that game because it'd probably be low scoring.

I have a very different perspective on a JCU/UMU rematch. Fulford basically didn't play in the first game (15-38, 153 yds 1 TD) and Mount still won by 13. JCU's defense can be had. Marietta scored 24 and BW 35. Is Mt's offense worse than those? Thing is, Marietta/BW QB's played better than Fulford did and JCU is the best in the OAC agains the run. Marietta and BW are both 55/45 run vs pass so very balanced. Etta and BW had the ability to use the pass game and their QB's played well. Mt is 60/40 run vs pass, which plays a bit into JCU's strength if the QB doesn't play well.

On the other side, Mt Union's defense is the best in the league and just as good against the run. Moeglin has proven he is not a guy who is gonna win a game. Cangelini and that OLine can beat you. Mt Union is the best matchup in the conference against JCU's offensive strength.

From what I have seen, you saw what Mt looks like without Fulford in the first game against JCU and the Raiders defense was stifling as JCU is really one dimensional on offense against good teams. If Fulford plays I would wager he will play better than he did in the first game and Mt wins a rematch by a lot. If he doesn't play, Mt wins comfortably if QB2 doesn't turn it over.

I'm with you on this take Usee. After seeing how many points BW And Etta put up on JCU I'm more convinced that the week 3 game was more of an early season fluke than a true indication of how close Mount and JCU are this year.

Sure hope you're right that game 3 was a fluke. I'm a worrier but deep down I know Mount will be OK!
Also, Fulford may well be playing sooner than everyone thinks. Talked to him yesterday. Go Raiders!

What does everyone think about the draws of the two OAC teams in the first round? Does anyone kind of think they gave John Carroll a better draw? I was so sure after the game on Saturday that we'd be playing Denison, and I thought Randolph Macon would be going to Mount. I know that ultimately, RMC was regionally ranked and Denison wasn't, but I feel like that is because the north was stronger than the south this year, so Denison never had a chance to crack the top 10

I'm not really impressed with anyone in the Quadrant.  Coin flip between Denison and Randolph Macon.  I think Mount Union's possible second round opponent is probably not as strong as JCU.  Although I have been hearing a lot about Centre on the Message Boards, but don't really know much about them.  Delaware Valley is probably a better challenge than W&J or Centre.

Just my uninformed opinion based mostly on how teams have fared in the past.  I do follow W&J some due to the HC being Mike Siriani, and I think they are somewhat down from previous years.

Just read that Earlham is dropping football for 2019 with possible return on 2020.

Maybe a more sensible path for TMC. Who knows.

I checked with Pat yesterday on this.  Losing Earlham doesn't affect the HCAC Automatic Bid since they have 9 teams.

Would love to hear Wilma is looking into a move back to the HCAC, though.  Then, maybe the right dominoes would fall for Thomas More.

That would be great for the OAC! Wilmington heading back to the HCAC, and then Thomas More taking their place in the Conference. Just my 2 cents.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Not football related, but I think everyone here enjoys BW losing in anything.  #13 Mount won their wrestling match against #9 BW 31-14.
Check out the crowd they got in the MAAC for it.
