I do not understand how Louis Berry is not a Gag nominee. His exploits have surpassed any DB in memory, history and legend.
How can Ruth be left off the First Team OAC?  Absurd. He's the most explosive player to wear the Purple since Pierre Garcon.
Question for the crowd? Is this the best defense Mount Union has ever had? Seems like it to this long time observer.
Loved the people in Salem and especially that brunch! But will not miss the weather.
Whose picking WWW to beat UMHB?

Maybe only me.  And "Brad".

I think UMHB will have a tough time with St John's before they get to UWW. In the pick em, I have St John's advancing. I believe their defense will hold UMHB and their offense is legit! They'll put some points on the scoreboard IMO.

I agree they will definitely put some points on the scoreboard. But, I also think a very good offense should be able to put up some points on the Johnnies as well.  But i'm not sure how good UMHB's offense is this year. In the past it has always moved from excellent to ok as the playoffs progress. That's understandable given the competition increase, but it certainly isn't the case with Mount and it isn't usually the case with UW-W when we are right. The St. John's UMHB game will be a heckuva quarterfinal!

UMHB likes to get leads and sit on it with their defense, and then punish any mistakes the opposing team makes in trying to comeback by converting short fields via turnovers or Special Teams (if they do not immediately score via turnover or return). Maybe they have changed things up a bit this year, but the Cru does not do a lot of exotic stuff on offense, but they do execute very well (several Raiders noted it over the 2016 and 2017 seasons, even if they only went 1-1). Against almost everyone else, it is good enough for a rout, but in the later rounds it can be a problem if their leads do not get large or if they get leads, at all. Defensively, they might be more aggressive, but it still looks like it is predicated on really good players and better execution than scheme. It is a very "novocaine" approach, but hard to argue the results. Not that they do not have a scheme (clearly, they do), but if there is one team in the tournament I would say is the "we all know what we want to do and we dare you to stop us" team, it is the Cru.
That makes sense. They are extremely talented all over the field and their defense is exceptional, which leads to good field position throughout the game. I just thought with better passing quarterback options, I expected to see more of a threat last week vs HSU.

Some of this is due to the fact that it was a second time to play them. Hard to scheme when the other team knows you so well. Secondly, HSU did some things in defense that took us off guard. Thankfully, we have the talent to beat HSU despite a seemingly lackluster offensive output. Also, we didn't want to show our hand too much, I assume. HSU is a good program. They would do well in most brackets.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Assume Saturday's weather forecast is correct.  (Insert laugh track here.)

As a Mount fan, does that forecast of rain and wind make me feel better about playing Centre without Fulford - or worse?

SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT KINDA GAME FOR A QB LIKE BURKES. RUN THE BALL MAYBE A FEW LITTLE SCREEN PASSES.. OPTION PLAYS.. SOUNDS EXCITING///

Burkes threw a bubble screen that bounced before it got there...I seriously don't think he can throw a spiral 10 yards.  He runs like the wind and is a threat to score every time he carries the ball, but passing in not in his table of contents.

Wow. Playing with a lot of pain but doing ok.

Centre is comparable to Denison. Would place 5th in OAC at best.

Hill just collected ankles and ran two defenders into each other. That was nasty!

Yeah, that thing I said about the Cru getting out to a quick lead and then turning games in a rout by leaning on their defense and special teams to give the offense short fields via turnovers and/or big returns? Forgot Mount could do that, too, even if their defense is not considered as ironclad as the Crusaders.

It's a pick-party out there.
