Next time MTU is in the situation they were in last weekend, they should just leave the starters in and score 100.

There you go.  Risk your Stagg Bowl gravy train so that you can make a point to a second round opponent about what happens when you don't promptly and appropriately bend the knee.  Smart.

Maybe I'm completely on glue, but I have no problem with Centre keeping their starters on the field in a playoff game against the team everyone outside of UWW or MHB is afraid of.  They were on a historic run and wanted to measure themselves against the best.  No shame in that.  Besides, they were already playing with their 2nd string QB that will be next year's starter with Tanner Young graduating.  What better way to get the kid some confidence and experience heading into next season than doing so against Mount, even if it is the 2nd unit.

Do you expect them to pull everyone at halftime to match Mount and lessen their chance at building some kind of goodwill for the off season?  A team in the position of Centre heading into this game is 1st happy to be there, 2nd hoping to not be embarrassed and 3rd wanting to gauge their team and learn something for the future.  They succeeded on all 3.

If they pull the starters which means their now on the 3rd QB,  they're likely looking at score worse than 51-7.  What benefit is there in that?

If this was a mid-season game I'd feel differently as you could get someone injured during scrub time that would adversely impact your entire season, but we're talking week 12.  There is no next game.  Only next season.  And the primary goal for Centre's coaches once winning this game was gone was to think long term.  And in my opinion they absolutely succeeded in that.  They head into the off season on an upswing mentally.   That's the best case scenario for a team that got completely owned in the first 30 minutes.

Agreed. It's an eliminationg game, of course they are going to fight to the bitter end. There are ways to be stupid about it, but keeping the starters in after the other side pulls their's isn't egregious, IMO.

Two things I think of regarding this.

1. As already said, this is a chance for Centre's top players to get a great look against the best of the best. Also a chance for the coaching staff to see how their scheme fits. The more reserves on the field (for either side) the less helpful the takeaways. Centre can't control who Mount plays, but they can control who they put on the field. NB: I think it is just fine for Mount to be classy and pull their 1's.

2. This is likely the last game the Sr's will ever play. Usually the top team is filled with Sr's, and for them this is the last meaning football they will probably ever play. If I'm a senior starter, my HC is gonna have to call a timeout and literally drag me off that field. I'd want to soak up every minute possible.

Now, trying to blow up the victory formation ... that's another thing all together.

The bolded line is something everyone with even half a brain should be able to agree on.  I would have loved to see Mount throw a bomb out of the victory formation after St Glenn pulled that crap.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

As you probably already know, Burke asked to throw into the end zone after that crap from St. Thomas. But Coach Kehres, classy guy that he is, said no.

So what's up with Ernie Banks? Lots of talk about him before the Denison game.  Then he doesn't see the field in the Centre game.  Injured?

Probably headed to Spring Training with the Cubs  ;D

Nice, I thought something looked "wrong" but couldn't figure it out!

I'm not feeling all giddy about playing Muhlenburg. They're going to be a tough team. Their defensive ends are athletic and corners can play.... Obviously they haven't seen a group of WRs like Mount Unions...😂.....I think their offense has some good skill, and will keep it close for awhile before UMU makes adjustments and pulls away. Johns Hopkins offense is playing lights out too, I'd expect them to move on and challenge.

Johns Hopkins worries me and I rarely, if ever, worry about a Mount opponent.

Until I'm proven wrong. The only east region opponent I'll worry about is Wesley.

Whoops, just realized the centennial is a south region conference... disregard this comment

I've seen film on both teams, they look nearly identical on both sides of the ball. Athletes everywhere and great coaches.

;D ;D ;D quoting centre Twitter guy is my new favorite response to any matchup lol
