After watching Keeney last week, I am more than happy to seeing Petro in the wildcat today.  However, what is the message, then, to Keeney .. or any of the backup QBs?  Regardless, props to Keeney for the Denison game.

And where is Burkes??

Injured.

Ugly day for passing the ball.  Cold, wet and windy.   Hill, who is one of the few receivers to not wear gloves,  already has 3 drops.

Been impressed by the muhlenberg O-line as Mount has zer ok pressure on the QB.

All very true. At least Mount did not have Muhlenberg's problems with the snap all game. Not saying they would have made a game of it if they fixed that, but they were definitely getting in their own way as much as Mount's D.

What's the message?  The next QB after Fulford isn't on the roster.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

But, "Hello, defense ... the only play is a Petro run!"

But, working!

This is a shade of a style of play I usually attribute to UMHB, "Everyone here knows what we want to do. Stop us."

They now have a QB to throw the deep passes.  The two long ball TDs today were the difference in the game against SJU.

Wow was that a miserable weather game!  50 they said....NOPE.  It felt colder than the 40 degrees it was out there.

Defense = stellar
Offense = VERY sub-par (other than Petrocelli & the offensive line at times)

Fulford appeared to just not be on, and not throw as he has exhibited in most of the games.  I am hopeful that we can get the offense back insync or they can/will be challenged next week.

Mount won & moved on, and many coaching opportunities during practice next week.

I did not watch their game, but good for them if they have found a guy. Weather aside, Mount Union really missed Ruth and his ability to finish those same plays. Hill saw a lot of doubles and had a lot of drops today.

My statement was never meant to be in insult, but rather among the highest compliments I can give. They know what they are good at and are so good at it that they can succeed even against gameplans designed to try and stop what they do.

anyone know if ruth will be back?

If they play like they did today, Johns Hopkins has a really good look at a victory.

Desertraider

Mount had everything against them today. I know both teams played in the same weather but I thought the Mules (great nickname - seriously) had the advantage coming in. Rainy, wet, cold and windy. It negated the passing game for Mount completely. Hill couldn't hold on even when he did make a catch. Petro fumbles early - a friend of mine has been watching him carry the ball and keeps telling me "he carries loose". Fulford throws a pick early and still doesn't seem ready to go. On the run where he went down he looked 2 steps slow. Maybe he was being cautious due to the conditions but he just didn't look right. On the Fulford note - seriously? Playoffs, quarterfinals, and you don't have a spare set of contacts?? WTH? Never knew a kid, until now, that wore contacts and didn't have a spare set in the their bag - including my friend whose daughter always has a spare set for TENNIS!

The Mules D played well against Mounts normal O...great prep on that...but get confused on the wildcat? Here is a clue: if the back is to Petros left, Petro is going off tackle left; if the back is to the right, same thing to the right. That sums up most of the 3rd and all of 4th quarter. Did anyone see Rambo ? Don't think I heard his name all day.

Lou Berry - Beast. Period.
Tre Williams - awesome.
D - outstanding (except for the 30 yard run with everyone holding him up trying to strip the ball).

Good news - Mount moves on.
Bad news - weather forecast for Saturday is the same as today.

A loss to the Mules would have been hard to swallow - a loss to Hopkins would be unacceptable. Not a fan of some of the crap they pulled in the last game against Mount. Roll Raiders~Roll!

Fair enough, and certainly an interesting development. They also gave up a lot through the air. I think Mount needs Ruth to replicate that, but there might be something there.

Injuries are definitely a factor for the Raiders...Ruth pulled hammy, slow return...Fulford is no where near 75 or 80%...Harrington did not play in second half, I heard he got banged up big time...White is limping most of season..These are all KEY people.
Pass defense, other than Berry got burned a lot today..Mules dropped one sure TD, and possibly another...Mules QB was very inconsistent and not accurate at all.  Receivers were open, he missed or they dropped.
Defense was stellar against run..Williams a big day, Pastor a good day, #97  a good day, too.

The problem I see is that Mount is not nearly as deep offensively as they normally are and losses they are suffering are critical. Hill has the dropsies and needs to clean that up.  Petro was a beast when needed most.

Additionally, I did not really see much in the intermediate passing game (that connected, anyway). Everything looked to be the WR screens (which were completely telegraphed and then snuffed out), or shots deep (often into double coverage). There were few "win the down" plays where Mount gets an easy completion for 4-7 yards and stays on schedule, or maybe the receiver breaks a tackle and gets a few more.

Pretty sure Herrington played in the 2nd half. He had two catches in a row, with the team headed North.  The second one was negated by illegal man downfield. I think it was the 4th Quarter.  Both were 12-15 yard posts with Herrington going low, making sliding catches.

What in the HE double hockey sticks is Fulford doing throwing into double coverage. He and Mount are damn lucky the Mules didn't pick him off several more times.  :P

All the announcer kept saying was where are Hill's gloves. He acted like the ball was a bomb. He must have left them in the bag with Fullford's contacts. ???
