I find Mount's reluctance to talk to d3football.com bizarre and frankly dumb.

I find d3football.com weaving it into a story title and tagging the school in tweets about it to petty, unprofessional, and gives credence to Mount not wanting to deal with them.

Pat Coleman stayed silent for a year.  Which is about 10 months longer than I would have stayed silent.

See, that actually makes sense. Get mad when it happens.

Or am I supposed to believe the d3football.com team had some great awakening just at the exact time they get the most site visits all year? I know, I know. Just a coincidence I'm sure.

It's ongoing -- happens whenever.

We didn't mention it on Selection Sunday at all.

I've long been curious.  Is your moniker a tribute to the Elizabethan Earl, or is it your real name that just happens to be the same?  And, either way, are you of the school that believes him to be the REAL Shakespeare?  Personally, I believe Willy was the real Shakespeare.

(By the way, I USED to post under my real name - cabonney, for Charles Alton Bonney - but was renamed by Pat Coleman and sac.  See page 7 of CCIW basketball for further details!  I used to irritate the hell out of Pat; his renaming was NOT meant to be complimentary!)

I probably still irritate the hell out of Pat on occasion, but in his dispute with UMU I am 100% on his side.  UMU and LK are acting like spoiled 5-year-olds.  (With apologies to my grandson, who is almost 5, and definitely spoiled - the grandparents revenge on their children! ;D)

Let me get this straight.  You're accusing Pat Coleman of an "October Surprise"?  Pat Coleman?

You're accusing Pat Coleman of going all "Joe Drape" during the D3 football playoffs?  (For those of you unaware, Joe Drape and the New York Times pretend for 51 weeks of the year that horse racing doesn't exist.  Then, during Kentucky Derby week, here comes the "blockbuster" "horse racing is corrupt and cruel" story.  You can set your sundial by it.)

Pat Coleman?  Seriously?

Would that be the same Pat Coleman who said a couple months ago regarding his solicitations to get people here to spend a few measly bucks for Kickoff 2018:  "It's hard asking people for money."

That Pat Coleman?  Oh, yeah, he's a real reptile.

Dude, I wouldn't know Pat Coleman if he were standing right in front of me.  (Of course, I'm blind in one eye and can't see out the other.  Still.)

Are we talking about the same Pat Coleman?

Are you sure you're not confusing him with this guy?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1AE_bCoPSI

It's a tribute to the Elizabethan Earl.  That guy from Stratford-upon-Avon?  He's a blank slate.  Edward Oxenford, Edward de Vere, The 17th Earl of Oxford?  543,865,912,674 kajillion exact correspondences between his life on one hand and the plays, sonnets and epic poems of the Shakespearean canon on the other hand.

If you really want to learn about one of the greatest whodunits in human history, you should first read "Shakespeare By Another Name" (Mark Anderson) and then "The Shakespeare Guide to Italy" (Richard Paul Roe).  Both books can be bought on the Intertubes for a few bucks.  Read them.  I think you'll change your thinking.

***  "I am haunted by the conviction that the divine William is the biggest and most successful fraud ever practiced on a patient world."  (Henry James)  ***

(Mark Twain, America's greatest writer, and Walt Whitman, America's greatest poet, were haunted by the exact same conviction.  In fact, Whitman thought the true author was "one of the wolfish earls. . . ."  Well, "wolfish earl" is about as good a two-word appellation for Edward de Vere as anybody could dream up.)

I think Mount can hold them to 21 or less, question is can we score more than 21. This pass offense has seemed really shaky in the last month or so , even tho sometimes the stats don't show it.. I am a little worried. I do think Mount can at least put 35 on the board tho. Anyone know if Ruth is playing , if hes 50%-100% Anyone going to try the king kong challenge at Dougs???? haha

Yes, at about midway through the second quarter.

My Prediction:

MTU:  31
JHU:  14

If Ruth is healthy, then MTU could score 45+

Try the Bison or Ostrich Burger at Dougs.  Or better yet, Hood Burger with Sriracha Sauce.

Bull-puckey.  Let's get this straight once and for all.  Believe what you "will."  The plays of Shakespeare were written (passive voice, I know) by a guy named, yes, William Shakespeare.  Genius defies explanation, including literary genius.

I'm with you on this, I'm thinking 31-14 or 42-21 type of game. One of the issues with our passing offense last game was a high number of drops due to rain. Played in dry conditions I think it would have been a lot different. Though I respect what the blue jays have done, If they expect a similar team to 2016 Mount they'll be in for a long afternoon.

Weirdly enough I think JHU may be over confident. The team they went toe to toe with in 2016 was not a good representation of a typical Mount Union squad let alone an above average team like I think we have this year.

How so?

Or what is the proper level of confidence a team should have when playing Mount Union in the national semifinal?

I'm sorry "over confidence" probably wasn't the right words.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think any lessons learned or experience from playing Mount in 2016 will translate very well to tomorrows matchup. The 2016 squad featured a very young and overall soft defense along with poor QB play. It was one of the worst teams Mount has fielded in the last 20 years or so.

Tomorrows team is more of a typical Mount team and I think JHU will play more like a first time opponent than a team that played them two years ago.

Desertraider

They played part of an interview with the JHU HC yesterday on radio and he said "we have shown we can play with them" before. Dont know when interview was...it wasn't with the station itself but a sound bite.

Got it.  When the first timers against Mount Union narrative isn't available, say the last time didn't really count for whatever reason is convenient so this is actually the first time, then apply the first timers narrative.  Like 2016 Mount Union was a 6-4 disaster and not a national semifinalist.

I think the poor QB play in 2016 doesn't really work at the moment.  UMU QB1 hasn't exactly been crushing it in these playoffs.  In fact, if he's not anywhere near 100%...

(⌐■_■)
( •_•)>⌐■-■
(•_•)

...he might not even be the best QB on the field tomorrow.  I don't think that prohibits Mount Union from winning the game, but it is something to watch.
