Bull-puckey.  Let's get this straight once and for all.  Believe what you "will."  The plays of Shakespeare were written (passive voice, I know) by a guy named, yes, William Shakespeare.  Genius defies explanation, including literary genius.

I'm not talking genius; I'm talking knowledge.

Read the two books I mentioned.  You will see what I mean.

Hmmm.  I think we're now quite far afield from D3 football. . . .

No kidding! It's like you guys are standing and chatting in the 822.33 section of the library instead of participating in the pregame festivities!

Don't forget Mount and Hopkins fans

Rey's 62 at 8:00 tonight. Let's have some fun!  ;D

Would like to but I can't make it. Sorry other obligations.

Awe, Great Lakes Christmas Ale....Glad I was able to pick a couple of cases when Wesley played Westminster a couple weeks ago. Ending your season in or near Ohio has its bonuses.

Well that's a good thing because it sure seems to happen to a lot of teams!

This is gunna be epic! It's an explosion of the senses and a mind trip from the '70s! What a wonderful explosion of cognitive osmosis filtered only by sagitarious in the seventh moon from mars.  :-*

I was just going to say that, Bluenote.  Amazing.

All this talk about literature reminds me why I'm so grateful to have chosen engineering.  Yikes.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Today we will see why I contend this years defense is one of, if not the best, Mount has ever had.. I don't see the touchdowns figured in the defensive statistics. Obviously, there should be some "factoring in", of the fact Mounts defense has produced 13 touchdowns. It is certainly relevant to my, "best ever" claim.
I expect also to see DeAngelo Fulford have a good day. However, a lot depends on the weather and the game plan. His QB rating, just like last year is at the top of D3. A fact that is studiously ignored by the pundits who picked the all region team. Fulford has played against much, much better competition too.
I imagine Fulford won't even make Honorable Mention this year on the All-American team by D3Football, just like last year when he was clearly the best quarterback in the nation playing in D3. I don't know why Mount doesn't let Pat talk to the players, but I sure wouldn't if they slighted one of my best players like that.

Frank Rossi

I'll happily respect him, Jeff, much like I did this past summer after we spoke.  His name is spelled "D'Angelo."

No he didn't. Not this year for the games that went in to deciding the AA list. Last year doesn't matter for this years awards. If it did then HSCiach would be an AA every year!

Rutter was better (and certainly more consisten) all year and played 3 top 25 schools in a league that is as good or better top to bottom  than the league Fulford played in. You can keep denying it but that doesn't make it true.

D3.com does a great job with these picks every year. And I am pretty sure Rutter had to earn his spot ahead of those other great QBs because going into this season the top spot was Fulfords to lose

Did you actually choose engineering or was it chosen for you?  In the early 70s in high school I excelled in math, chemistry, and physics so when I met with guidance counselors they said engineering is what you should consider taking in college and handed me a booklet on Chemical Engineering.  As I think back on that time, the booklet was probably fairly dated because it had a lot of pictures of elderly men with crew cuts.  In anyway, after that meeting with the counselors  I was focused on this chemical engineering profession though I didn't know much about it at that time.

I had a couple bumps in the road on my way to finding a college.  I was part of a program at Kent State that invited top students from local high schools for a full day exam for a chance at a full ride scholarship to KSU.  While KSU staff had you on campus they put you through a career fair where they tried to help you select a degree program with the goal of getting you on the way to applying at KSU. At the career fair when they asked me my interest I told them Chemical Engineering and they quickly responded "Oh you must mean Chemistry". I responded I didn't think so.  For several minutes they tried to convince me that a degree in Chemistry was in my future. I'm not sure back then I knew what Chemical Engineering was but I knew it was not Chemistry and KSU was off my list.

Months latter I visited YSU and they knew what Chemical Engineering was.  They shared a lot of information on Chemical Engineering and it began to make a lot of sense.  Shortly after that visit I soon applied at YSU  and was accepted. I ended up getting married before my sophomore year which made things a bit interesting though I ended up at the top of my class. With my college transcripts most of the companies I talked to upon graduation wanted me to go into a management program that moved individuals multiple times every  3 to 6 months across the country at their multiple sites before settling into a position. Having a young family this approach wasn't attractive to me so I interviewed with other companies trying to convince them I wasn't over qualified.  This strategy worked and now I'm managing other engineers for projects around the country with a handful of projects overseas.  I'm glad someone nudged towards Chemical Engineering.

I'm heading for Alliance in a few minutes and hoping to see a great game. It has been 3 years sine there was a semifinal game in Alliance.

Zupanic posted on Twitter the other day.

The last time Mount Union hosted a national semifinal game was way back in 2015 and they defeated UW-Whitewater 36-6. The @purpleraiders lost on the road to UMHB in the 2016 semis and defeated UW-Oshkosh in last year's semis, also on the road.

A beautiful day for football in Alliance. The sun bright, temps in high 20's low 30's and clear as a bell.  Cloudy in spots, but no predicted precipitation.
Perfect for both QB's...let's play.

Hey Purple,

Just so we are all looking at the facts and not just conjecture, here are the season stats of the 2 QB's in your arguments:

Fulford:
161-245, 66%, 2,433 yds, 35 TD's, 2 INTS

Rutter:
269-385, 70%, 3,539 yds, 30 TD's, 3 INTS

MT Union is 62% Run and 38% Pass, NCC is 65% Run and 35% pass.

Competition tougher? Let's look. According to HansenRatings current full D3 Rankings:

Mt Union (#2 HansenRating) has played the following teams:
#12 Muhlenberg
#13 Centre
#14 JCU
#33 Baldwin Wallace

North Central (#9 HansenRating) has played:
#4 Bethel
#5 Wheaton
#20 IWU
#40 Carthage

If you don't like HansenRatings, let's look at the D3.Com top 25:

Mt Union has played current #8 JCU, #24 Muhlenberg and #24 Centre. Fulfords stats against those teams:

30-71, 42%, 299 yds, 4 TD's 1 INT

North Central has played current #11 Bethel, #14 IWU, #22 Wheaton. Rutter's stats against those teams:

66-103, 64%, 975 yds, 4 TD's 2 INT

Everyone can make their own conclusions from this data (or pick other data to suit you) but I think its fair to say both these guys played top competition this year and are both excellent quarterbacks. The choice must have been difficult but it sure seems to me that Rutter has been a bit more consistent this year than Fulford.
