Great game to watch as a D3 Football fan with no dog in the fight. Congrats to Mount Union on getting to the Stagg Bowl.....again. Johns Hopkins prepared and played very well...this game could have gone either way , but Mount Union took advantage of the opportunties with two pick sixes. In general, Mount had the better athletes, especially on defense but I think the Blue Jay Freshman receiver #89 played with as much skill and toughness as anyone. Good luck to Mount Union in the Stagg. Lots to take away and work on for next week.

DeAngelo Fulford on the second team?  That's absurd. His QB rating is one of the highest in the country, far and away better than D3's OPY. DeAngelo is UNDEFEATED as a starter, 26-0,  and has won a National Championship. Nothing the D3 POY has done remotely compares to Fulford's achievements on the field of play. What does this kid have to do?

Fulford is fortunate that the 2nd team selection was made BEFORE the playoffs.  He's yet to play even decent against a quality, let alone a great defensive opponent this season.  Better step not up next week or Mount will be in trouble.   You're not scoring twice on defense next week regardless of which team we see.

A whole bunch of teams right now are wishing they just played really crappy and advanced to the Stagg Bowl.

Btw: Lou Berry for Heisman, and what the heck Lou Berry for President 2036. He has his hand in 9 of the D's 14 TDs.

5 punts in the first 13 minutes of the UWW-CRU game.  Defense rules.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

1. D12 needs to get smarter with the ball. Can't throw into double coverage unless necessary and to JHill only.
2. Mount's defense played exceptionally well. They were on the field for a long time.
3. Loooouuuuuuuu!!!! Coming up with timely pressure to force interception for a TD and sack in 4th Q.
4. This team is good enough in spite of the mistakes to win the Stagg.... Which leads me to...
5. I'm going to enjoy this team for 1 more week regardless of how we looked because most fans don't get to do that right now.

As I watch this game, the Cru forced a TO. If they score here and go up two scores, I look for them to take all the air out of the ball.

My oh my, but MHB's defensive line is going to own the line of scrimmage against Mount.  Fulford must play very well and Jared Ruth better be healthy.

That is nothing new: the D-Lines for both teams owned the line of scrimmage last year, and arguably the year before that. The only saving grace for Mount is that the Cru does not do a whole lot of exotic stuff, but they execute it well. Think Mount might be able to figure out a counter-punch?

Uww looks unprepared and slow. I still think Bullis is not a very good coach. Well compared to LL anyway

Uww has looked slow since 2015 IMHO. I think that's the big reason they've failed to remain a true purple power.

MHB would be truly scary with a decent offense mind calling the shots.  Great athletes,  no imagination.  Nor do they appear to be precise in anything they do.  Reminds me of your typical big, city high school.   Superior athletes with marginal coaching.

A few random thoughts

1. It's cold.
2.  I hate watching tv games in person
3.  They REALLY his Jared Ruth.
4.  Fulford hasn't played well in over a month
5.  JHU does Mount a favor every time they run it.

At least it is dry. The missus noted during her time as an alum ('05-'08 seasons) that the rain stops Mount's O as much as any team's D. You know better if I do if Fulford is 100%, but is that whole month before or after his injury? Along with missing their best WR and TE, Mount's O misses a bunch of folks, including the best versions of the guys they have.

Point 5 is the gospel truth. The best QB on the field is wearing blue, but he has not fully cut loose. He needs to.

Fulford didn't have a good game. It will take at least a few months before he is 100%.

Ohsaa13

Fuhlfords poor performance had nothing to do with his ankle.  His decision making and awareness is just poor

Desertraider

Fulford ankle is not the issue. The problem is between that young man's ears. As far as UMHB not having imagination...same goes for UWW. Good lord .

No, he certainly did not, especially on the throws into the end zone that were picked. The first on the slant should have come out much sooner and the second should not have been thrown to that receiver, at all. I had been thinking through the game that better QB had been Tammaro, but really he was just more steady (aside from the back-breaking pick-6s), whereas Fulford was up-and-down. I want to say that will not get it done next week, but he was up-and-down in the semifinals and the finals last year.

Agreed, which is why I think they try to keep things simple ("You have one job, just go do it!") and have no problem taking the air out of the ball when they get leads to reduce risk. They also seem to lack for good/great QB play, which seems odd for the athletes they have everywhere else.
