These Stagg Bowls are so hard to predict because sometimes the Stagg goes in a way you'd never have expected based on the semi's or quarters. I think of years where UWW struggled in the semis to score points, only to put up higher than expected numbers in the Stagg. IMO it wasn't because Mt's defense wasn't as good (I know there are some exceptions like 2013 HSCoach), I think it's more about the game plan. I think some teams take a "just win and advance" approach in the semis. Some teams carry that same approach to the Stagg (like Mt last year, UMHB the year before, and UWW in 2011). Other times the teams really open up in the Stagg- like most years.

IMO, if Mt lets the horses run and allows the offensive and defensive players to make the plays they are capable of, I don't think UMHB can hang with the Purple Raiders. Mt has to be smart about the type of passing game they employ, but that's a coaching thing and Mt can coach. Mt has to play disciplined defense against Miller, but that will be a coaching thing too.

I'm going w Mt by quite a bit.

Agree with this all the way. Good points!

I'm thinking the game will be very close.
My prediction:
UMHB 20
Mount 17

That being said, I hope Mount comes away with this one! After the disappointing exit by John Carroll this year, it would be nice to say we played the champions very close!

Plus, I know all you Mount guys more than any UMHB posters, so if I can't be happy, I figure you might as well be!

The recaps on the predictions were very good reading and provided a great deal of insight to ponder.  I am a Mount alum and great fan and hope the Raiders can avoid the turnover bug and special teams errors. QB protection will be a huge factor.
If the Raiders are turnover free and don't let the Texas A&M guy get free on a return, I feel good about our chances.
If UMHB QB goes down it could be curtains.  I saw the backup helped off the field last week, Poorman is unavailable, and just found out the starter has a bum shoulder. Is it his throwing shoulder?

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Same can be said for Mount Union.  To me, the greatest disappointment this season is the failure to develop a competent back up to Fulford.  If he is lost or does not play well, I do not think Mount wins with the wildcat.  On the other hand, I have faith that Fulford will play at his best and the Raiders will come away with #14!

i know keeney s stats  were great in one game  but he also didn't have to throw down field , but is he really that bad that he wouldn't be an option if they need him rather than completely take away the pass.  also , is ernie burke's available tonight??

Whitewater did, just not to the level they were used to..

I think the game will look similar to last year's.  One QB is going to make a play or two more than the other and that team will win.

Subject:  Mount Union coaching tree

Startup NAIA program St Thomas University (FL) has announced the hire of Bill Rychel as HC.  The program begins play this fall and is rumored to be playing Thomas More in Game 1.  TMU's most recent school President, David Armstrong is the President at STU.

skunks_sidekick

No rain in the air or on the field.  Decent temperature.  Kid from FL makes one or two excellent plays.  Running game does enough to control the ball when needed.  Defense does the rest.

Mount - 24
UMHB - 14

OR, it goes totally against what everyone is predicting & ends up a 35-34 score with some unforeseen crazy play.   :P

I have a work obligation until around 6:30, & then I am off with Jr., Skunk & another buddy to Toddy B's.

Let's go RAIDERS!

Yes, contrary to what some of the keeney apologists say, a screen pass that ends up going for 45 yards is not an indication of amazing quarterbacking ability.

Not saying he's bad or anything just that he hasn't done much

Nemeth looked pretty dominant in 2015. 30 carries for 220 yards and 2 touchowns.
