You may have accounted for this already, but Malone would have to move for all sports, not just all but football.

Not sure which comment you were responding to  but yes, I think they should move down to d3 in all sports, I don't understand the ROI for them being in D2

Got it! :)

That would certainly make sense, however, it doesn't help otherwise with regard to football, since they have dropped the program, not wanting it regardless of NAIA or D3, which fits with what  Dr. A and HScoach have mentioned. :(

Sure,  my comment wasn't about saving football it was about saving money overall, just go d3, however I can understand it could be tough if they couldn't find a conference.

Hey Pat,
Any scuttlebutt about any conference changes?  Gotta wonder if the OAC would lose a team if Malone would consider dropping their programs to D3 and grab the spot.  It would be a nice fit for them.  Don't know if Mount would be thrilled about it.  Would like to hear some opinions.

I know we do this every time, but...if you lost Wilm and replaced them with Malone?  I'd say that's an upgrade.  Although when you remove scholarships from the equation I'm uncertain just how much of an upgrade it'd be long-term.  If there's an opening in the OAC I will continue to beat the drum for TMC.  They'd be a great fit.  Malone works well from a geography, size, sports sponsored aspect though.  And Malone most definitely should be D3 if any conference would take them.

Well the NCAC is out. No Phi Beta Kappa. That leaves the OAC, The PAC and possibly the HCAC, however the HCAC would not be a great fit geographically. My guess is they stay D2, or go back to the NAIA.

Have you checked out Malone's football twitter page? They were offering scholarships as of last week. That seems very cold to me. The admin knew this was coming, and still allowed its football team to give a bunch of young excited players scholarships to be on a team they knew wasn't long for the world

Sounded like the HC didn't even know this was coming

The HC said he had 15 commits.  He had to call them all at 7:00 AM after the meeting broke telling them they had no team.

The administration is trying to make it sound like they did what they could by moving up their board of trustees meeting to vote so they could tell them team before signing day, but they should have announced this to the coaches and team immediately after the season ended.  At least then those kids could have a fighting chance to transfer for the spring semester.  And those coaches could have found jobs hopefully.

If this is an example of how Malone operates, I don't think D3 would want them. :(

Big boy who looks strong, but needs to get quicker and work on his bend. That's also probably why he isn't going to a bigger school with his size.
I've got a little list of Mount Union "commitments' that I'll post around signing day and one after that bc that's when some good tweeners find out that they're not getting the offers they thought they would and give Mount a second look. Solid group so far, in my unprofessional opinion of course...

yeah I've seen a bunch of interesting commits, I also noticed a lot of size on the offensive side including a 6-5 all conference tight end. Excited to see your list hs

It'll be interesting to see what Campbell elects to do going forward.  According to a tweet from Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register he had 6 NFL teams reach out to him.

Does he know Sean McVay?  Does he know someone who knows Sean McVay?  Does he know someone who once attended a Rotary Club luncheon where Sean McVay spoke for 15 minutes?

These are the current qualifications for NFL head coaching hires.
