I'm hearing more rumors lately about what the Tommies might be doing after getting kicked out of the MIAA.  There are multiple reports on the internet quoting some little bird. Below is the quote that can be found making its way to multiple sites.

A little birdie says St. Thomas, ousted by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association, could end up in the Division I Pioneer League for football and the Division I Summit League for its other sports. The university recently hired two assistant athletics directors.

The Pioneer League might be more feasible since it's non-scholly D1, but certainly not ideal.  That's the league UD is in.  Butler is also in that league and I know Franklin has played them OOC in the last few years so I suppose it's not a huge stretch for UST.  My question would be if that move would be the move or just a stepping stone to the move.

Just going to pull this relevant piece of info out from an FAQ I found on the NCAA's website about reclassification

Quote
Q: May an institution reclassify from NCAA Division III to Division I?
A: No. Current rules would require a Division III institution to initially reclassify to Division II prior to reclassifying to Division I.

This document looks like it is about two years old, so "current" rules may have changed.  I think the notion that St. Thomas is going to be in a Division I league anytime soon is not realistic.  That's probably 10 years away.  At least.

So I've gone back, not the first time, and rewatched the championship game. Is there any explanation as to why the players for MUC felt the need to give a horns down sign? That has nothing to do with UMHB and the Cru.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Franklin beat Butler by 3 in 2008 (the year they made the quarterfinals), lost by 3 in 2013, and lost by at least 19 in the rest (2009, 12, 15, 16, 17).
The Grizzlies have played another Pioneer League team as well facing Valparaiso in 2010 and 11 winning by 35 and 14 respectively.

I'm sure they didn't know any better and just figured all Texas is the same.

Well, I was going to say immaturity but I guess ignorance will do as well.

So text messages are becoming public from Urban Meyer and he apparently doesn't like Mount Union. Grinch asked if Jason Candle could visit for practice and he straight up told Grinch that he doesn't like Mount Union guys. I understand that Warriner wasn't what he wanted in an OC, but I think that was Urbans fault for giving him the position. Another reason to be glad Meyer is gone from OSU! https://twitter.com/KyleRowland/status/1157385534274244608?s=19

Probably a combination of the two.

I don't know. I'm guessing they probably knew it was a Longhorn thing and just lumped all the Texans together.  Playing the National Championship game so close to the opponent's school, they probably viewed it as a road game.  Maybe they wanted to let the CRU know, home field or not, they weren't intimidated. Or maybe they just thought it was fun.

UMHB2001,
I doubt they "felt the need" to do it so much as they just felt like doing it.

Good find. I'm glad that you were able to clear me up on Meyer's sarcastic texts. I hope Meyer takes care of himself.

Looking forward to check in day to see which guys are back and see if any new transfers are promising. I'm excited to see the offense with so many returning (Oline will be very good this year) and see which guys on defense step up to take some big spots at CB, LB and safety. It does look like Gabe Brown is not playing this year bc he was listed as a student coach in the media guide. Replacing him and Berry will be tough, but Griffin and Williamson should be pushing for a starting position (they played well last year) with Ford and Fisette possibly at safety positions.
