Amazing to me that one of the very best quarterbacks in Mount Union football history, DeAngelo Fulford, does not make the D3FOOTBALL preseason All-American team.
It is an insult to Mount Union, and his position coach, who knows a bit about coaching great quarterbacks.
After eating such a huge helping of crow when the presumption of innocence prevailed in the false criminal case, I would think D3FOOTBALL's picker would have lost his taste for crow.
Apparently not.

Hi there, Purple. I haven't forgotten your attempt to threaten me and intimidate me over the phone, sir, but it doesn't affect our editorial coverage or our awards process.

TBH I didn't expect Fulford to be preseason AA.  I'm not sure why he would be.  The preseason team mirrors the 2018 AA team.  That's what I'd expect.  If he puts up numbers like 2017 again where he tosses 50 TD and leads the nation in passer efficiency I'm sure he'll be an AA at the end of the season.

You know you're a veteran of D3boards if you remember Seventies!  I will say that while Seventies and Suit/Merle were both agitators I was only glad to see one of them go.  His presence is not missed in any way.

Hmmm, I find this to be....curious.  We all understand your love affair with Fulford, but your D'-colored glasses are tainting your evaluation.

In the 30+/- years that Mount has been Mount, Fulford is CLEARLY behind the following QB's (listed alphabetically):
Ballard
Borchert
Burke
Micheli

Due to leadership, not physical ability, I'd also put him behind:
Smeck

I'd put Fulford in the same category as:
Adamson
Rocco

Guys that Fulford is ahead of include:
Bruney
Burghardt
Piloto
Seaman

The only way I could support you're statement is if you want to specifically define "Mount Union football history" to be the entire time frame of the program dating back to it's inception in the late 1890's.

For the record, I'm not shocked at all that Fulford isn't a D3 Pre-Season All-American.  There are quite a few great QB's nationally that did more last year with less talent around them.  Those guys, especially Erdmann, carried lesser teams in a way that Fulford has yet to display in his Mount career.  Ballard, Borchert and Burke all were THE difference makers on really Mount teams that made a deep run.  Micheli was an absolute stud that doesn't get the individual credit he deserves because of playing with Garcon, Shorts and Kmic.  Those 4 guys fit my definition of "greatest Mount QB".  Fulford is a really good D3 quarterback, but until he displays the accuracy, decision making, leadership and play making ability of those 4 guys he isn't in the same zip code.  With the receiving corps that he is throwing to, I'd gladly take Gary Smeck over him too.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I think what you said fits perfectly. Fulford isn't in my top 5 Mount Union QBs all time, no question right now. I fully support him, glad he's a raider and think he's a very good QB, but he didn't get snubbed. Of those 3 mentioned as preseason AA, if one were QB at Mount, I would put UMU as heavy favorite to win the championship (Tamarro and Erdmann). Those guys have a different level of play under pressure in the pocket, losing in close games and against great defenses. Fulford has lots of talent, but he has room to grow to help the purple raiders win this year with better decision making and play in tight games. I'm optimistic that he will become what the team needs this year!

Also just found a nice piece to watch for you Raider game. UMU basketball player, D'vontay Friga has something like 10,000 followers of his YouTube channel where he just does video blogs of D3 stuff and he just finished one on Mine Unions football locker room with D'Angelo. Check it out if you have time.

Fulford's 2018 season reflects why he was not considered for preseason AA.  I agree, if he has a great season he should get consideration.
We Mounties always look at our players through our lenses and many of us do not see other teams.  It is hard to argue with Pat, as he and his staff do see these players and have a great track record as to their selections and why they made them.
Can we debate? Heck yes.
I liken Fulford to Scott Woolf, a great athlete who can run and throw, however his injury last season most definitely affected his play, and perhaps his accuracy.
Besides, look how many Purple Raiders made first team preseason AA for D3.com.  If I were a fan of another school, I would probably wonder why so many Mounties got selected.

Oh no! How could I have missed it?
Did we win anything for having our own day? How were you honored by your family? Remember, since my lady died 2 years ago, I live alone. I have no way of knowing these things. Damn, I hate it when this happens.
All I can think of now is, Go Johnnies and Go Raiders.
Excuse me, while I go drown my sorrows in some Bud Light.  :(  8-)  ::)  ;D
