This PAT issue isn't going away.  Another botched attempt luckily bailed out by a PI call when Burkes rolled out to pass.  Take 2 the kick was good.  14-3.

Could be worse.  Could be . . . . St. John's.

Mount Union Frosh QB Plunk was 8 for 10, 2 TD and 2 drops...not a bad day.  The Mount coaches appear to be trying to get him more quality time in the middle of games.  Really wise thinking, that many other teams seem to forget, even when they are cruising with big leads.
Fulford seems to be too stubborn to run out  of bounds on some plays. Today on two occasions, he took big hits when he had plenty of time to get out without contact.

On Plunk, I actually love this, especially since I hate that Fulford is still playing games in this fashion like he still has something to prove. The only time he could prove anything to anyone who has not already made up their mind about him is in the playoffs, and to make a fair appraisal, he needs to be healthy.

I saw an intersection tweet today from Luke Poorman indicating his younger brother got a recent offer from MHBU.  The younger Ty Poorman is currently ranked by Max Preps as #7 in passing yards for Florida High Schools. Ty's tweet this morning was.

After talking to Coach Fredenburg I am thankful for the offer to play football at my brother's school Mary Hardin Baylor the #1 Team in D3!! @crufootball @CoachFredenburg

After seeing even more Plunk with the first team offense... The Purple Raider offense will be in good hands next season. The kids has an arm and puts the ball where it needs to be and on time. He doesn't wait until someone is open, he throws the receivers open and knows their routes. Also doesn't stare one guy down... Great potential. Fulford has all of the tools, plus experience, just wish he wouldn't take unnecessary hits. My knock on D12 is that I think he waits way too long for guys to get open before he throws it. That works for now with the Oline he has in front of him vs these defenses, but imo, that needs to be sharper come game 11,12,etc.

Btw Hill........ What were you thinking?!?!? Dude makes A GREAT catch over two defenders, gets the PI called too and thinks it's ok to throw the ball on the defenders face... c'mon man

Speaking of receivers.... Harvey's one handed catch on the sideline was awesome! Our sophomores Ruby and Reed sure look good too. It's nice to have at least 4 guys who are making exceptional plays on the outside.

Well the game was good (ish). I went down with my 2 daughters (12 and 10) and we met a couple of my friends (husband and wife) who came up from Delaware. They have 2 girls - 1 chose Mount St Joe's over THE Mount and the other went with Otterbein since it is closer to Delaware. Regardless they come up for a couple games each year. Her dad is having some serious health issues and she really needed to get away for a bit. The brunch, my 10 year old I truly believe thinks the brunch is the reason people go and the game is by coincidence on the same day, was great as always. A good chance to visit and they had some keychains, buttons and decals on the tables so that was cool. Got a great surprise when my best friend (I have known him since we were 3) came out of the bookstore with his wife and gifted me a game worn Raiders helmet! Very cool indeed - and IT FITS!! Of course - who isn't going to check and see?? So after reliving my dream of slipping on a helmet and working my way into the locker room and onto the field...I walked up and bought tickets.

Slow start but a nice, long, consistent drive that led to points got it started. Raiders looked good and methodical. Gave up a FG to ONU on return trip but it was a good start. 2nd quarter was beast mode. Justin Hill is a hot head. He is - can't argue another way on this. He made a great catch in traffic - wrestled for the ball (not needed since officials had blown whistle and play was dead) then comes up, stands over the defender and plants the ball in his face. Flag all day long. I was pleased to see VK take him out to sit a bit.

Harvey - that kid made an unreal catch on the sidelines. No clue how the feet got down - but they did. We headed out after 1st score of 3rd quarter. Listened to the game on the way home - and wish I hadn't. The 2nd half seemed to come apart a bit.

Plunk was great. He was poised (VK's fav word to describe QBs). Did not get rattled with pressure, stayed calm and found the open man, Scanned field with pressure - you could see him go through 1st, 2nd, 3rd read. I was impressed and thought the O actually looked better with him under center (he wasn't focused on J Hill so long that he had to flee the pocket) - wasn't tentative to run, but wasn't looking to either. The Raiders looked like Micheli was under center. My .02 cents!

All in all a nice game. Helmet looks great on the book shelf. Thanks again to 2 great friends for the gift.

Sidenote - my buddy noticed Trey on sidelines getting his left hand re-taped. He said it looked like a huge gash and was bleeding. I know Trey has been wearing what amounts to a cast for a few weeks so I am not sure what the deal is with his hand. Anyone else catch a look?

Great write up desertraider.  Thanks for posting it.

I agree with your observation on Plunk. His position coach says he is the best freshman QB he has coached and he has coached a lot of great QBs.

I saw Trey's mother just before the start of the JCU game and she said her son was playing with a cast on his hand. Cast or no cast Trey is a real beast on the field. I assume it might be one of those injuries that doesn't fully heal until after the season is over in late December, but it appears he has adjusted well to playing with the injury.

By what - thirty seconds?

She was looking at Mount Union as well but didnt want to go that far from home. So it was Otterbein or Ohio Wesleyan and the Bein was better for her major.

Ha!  I now realize you meant Delaware the city, not Delaware the state.

Some strong scoring led to a lot of movement after Week # 9 of the 2019 OAC Pick-Em.  A nearly perfect score from thunderdog pushed him past NCF, the leader of the last two weeks, into the top spot.  aueagle slipped into second, with NCF staying close with two weeks to play.

Week # 10 spreads have been posted.

you know, fulford may not be the greatest mount QB ever, but if he had been able to stay healthy throughout his mount career he could now be chasing a fourth straight championship.

in 2016, with its third-string QB, mount loses to MHB in the semifinals 14-12. that QB, dom davis, was 9-23 for 63 yards and 3 INT. in 5 games fulford was 35-56 (62.5%) with 4 TD and 0 INT. MHB then beat oshkosh 10-7 to win the championship.

in 2017, with fulford healthy, mount goes 15-0 and wins title 12-0 over MHB

in 2018, with fulford clearly limited with a leg injury, MHB edges mount 24-16.

my QB ratings would be:
1. borchert (threw the prettiest and most accurate long passes i've ever seen at mount)
2. ballard
3. micheli
4. burke
5. fulford
6. smeck
7. rocco
8. adamson
9. bruney
10. jorris

taurice scott was terrific, but gets docked for not having played the position long enough

Yep. On our 3rd kicker for a combined 64% on the season. With no threat of a FG inside the Red Zone it is an unsettling situation.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
