AND...it keeps the back-up from transferring to Walsh or UMHB.

Plunk looks good. Not good for a back-up. He looks more comfortable and confident at this point in his career than others have looked as Juniors. Not saying he is going to be on the Mount Rushmore - but I feel like making plans for the Stagg Bowl in Canton is not wishful thinking.

And Trey Williams has clearly treated losing that cast like taking the weight of the world off his body. I am only listening, but it sounds like he is everywhere today.

At halftime Trey Williams 5 tackles, 2.5 TFL. I agree Trey is playing like a beast today.

The more I see Plunk play, the more I like the idea of getting the #2 guy live early-game reps against (mostly) overmatched teams. Kehres still gets to say there is a #1 guy (that's still D12 even if Plunk looks good), but he gets the back-up meaningful reps and lets him say to potential recruits that they will still play and put up some numbers until it is their time.

Halftime leaders for Mount Union:
Plunk 178 passing yards, Fulford 64 passing yards
Petruccelli 125 rushing yards, Parker 25 rushing yards
Ruby 101 receiving yards, Hill 70 receiving yards.

DeAndre Parker is a freshman and has 49 yards receiving to go with the 25 yards rushing at the half.  Two freshman players having great games.

I hate these games against totally inferior teams!  I think the coaching staff has developed a great strategy in getting backups experience early & often.  Mount won't play a competitive game until maybe quarters?  As much as I want JCU or B-W to make the playoffs for conference pride, neither team has a run in them.

I am starting to think Wheaton might be a real contender.  Solid everywhere.

Central is crushing Wartburg at halftime 42 -14.  Not much defense being played at Pella, IA today. Both teams have combined for almost 750 total yards at the half.

I love getting Plunk, Parker and others into the game early and often. I really like Plunk a lot, but he can wait behind Fulford right now. Fulford just needs to stay sharp physically and mentally in game speed situations. No need to get dinged up like the last couple of years.

I like getting these other guys in for recruiting purposes, game experience and getting to see them against other teams instead of your own guys all of the time. Like was mentioned... It should keep them at Mount... Hopefully.... Because they see that they will be used or getting meaningful time next season when guys graduate. One thing I appreciate about Mount Union football is that if someone is younger, they will get their chances to push the starter and show that they are better in time, if necessary (I'm not saying it is for any position this year). I like where this team is headed right now and just keep improving! Not like my opinion matters 😁

Great points made. A strength of Mount Union is that with their strong recruiting they always have a lot of guys pushing the starters.  This makes many of the key players battle tested in practice which comes in handy when UMU gets deep into the playoffs. The high competitiveness of the Mount Union machine does result a degree of  turnover and can cause some to burn out and transfer out of UMU.

After UMU was well on their way to another blowout I switched to Central Wartburg game.  Central was up by 35 in the 3rd quarter before giving up 5 touchdowns in a row. The game went into OT and Wartburg scored first which made it 6 touchdowns in a row.  With Wartburg up by 7 Central scored on their OT possession but instead of kicking extra point they went for 2 and won the game. Great game.

Scores were all over the map in the penultimate week of the 2019 OAC Pick-EmD3Poster, hsbsballcoach7, and aueagle led the way with eleven points, aueagle using those points to move in front of this game of Leap Frog.  With one week to go he has a 3-point lead over NCF; four over thunderdog.

Week # 11 spreads will come out Monday night.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

You made a great choice. That was an incredibly entertaining game!

I finally had a decent week!! Of course just like the Browns, there's not enough time to come back.... At least there's playoffs for me to participate in, unlike the fighting Mayfields!

Though I like the fact that Plunk is getting extensive playing time, Davis and Poorman didn't transfer because of lack of playing time.  They transferred because they were  the same class as Fulford and had little shot at first string EVER barring injury.  Plunk could play just the last three minutes of every game and still know he's the favorite to lead Mount Union the next three YEARS.

For one hundred trillion bazillion gazillion dollars, name the long-time Mount Union College professor who wrote his master's thesis - or was it his doctoral thesis? - on Pella, IA.

I am going with Dr. Harold M. Kolenbrander. Professor Emeritus and former President - and of course the KHIC. I remember seeing he did his grad work at Iowa so its my guess.
