legitimate question: how is it that north central got just a #4 seed? 5th in the country in both polls, lost only to a #1 seed in a game that was tied going into the 4th quarter.

We aren't wrong about a drop in pressure. 2018 stats Mount had 137 TFL(includes playoffs) and 61 sacks (46 in regular season). To this point of the 2019 season they have 65 TFL and 21 sacks. The secondary has more picks (13 this year, 10 reg season 18'). But in 2018 (playoffs included) they had 81 breakups  and are at 34 breakups this year. In terms of scoring - the defense had 9 TDs last year (14 including playoffs) and 1 this year.

A 2nd round game against NCC is a bit of a worry given the lack of pressure (TFL's and sacks). Knock me if you want (how dare a Mount fan criticize the MOUNT!) - but the stats, while being like bikinis, back me up.

The Selection Committee does not take Poll positions into account when "Seeding."

They take geography and the almighty Dollar into account.

Interestingly, the D3FB mock bracket doesn't have North Central in a second-round game with Mount Union.

It has North Central in a second-round game with . . . wait for it . . . wait for it . . . UMHB.

But that would have made them cry even more. "Our bracket is so hard and Mount always gets cupcakes. It's not fair. Why is it always Mount,  Mount,  Mount?"

I was reading the "Mount gets this", "Mount always gets that".  It is such a tired take that I just chuckle every time I see it.   

I think Mount can put up 40-50 on NCC, so this might be one of those games that the D just has to be good enough with a few stops.

  I am very disappointed in the so-called Mount Union fans who are taking cheap shots at Earnie Burkes. He was one of our guys. He played well when he was in and was able to earn two  letters on really good Mount Union teams. So he's having a problem. Is this cause to cheap shot the young man? Hopefully he will graduate from Mount. Only jerks take the opportunity to kick a guy when he's down.

I do not profess to be a great football mind, but the play of the Mount DB's has to improve to win a 'ship.  The lack of sacks and TFL's suggest that QB's may get more time to throw.  In the games I have witnessed, (just a few), Mount's DB's have numerous interference calls, grab and hold consistently, and generally do not seem confident . A picky crew of referees could flag them practically every down.  Perhaps we have been spoiled, but the lack of experience back there is obvious.  Also, for the first time in a while, Mount has given up quite a few long plays this season.  I don't know much about our opponents, but it may be a year where we have to outscore good teams.

To be fair I said 40-50.  Let's adjust that to read 42.     And I think they can put that up on anyone they are going to playing until maybe the Stagg.  They have taken their foot off the gas almost all year (due to inferior competition for sure), and with the development of the youngsters at receiver I think they will be hell to handle no matter who they play.  Couple that with a very solid running game, and a healthy DA, it just bodes well for this offense.  The statement is really more about Mount & less about NCC.
