We aren't wrong about a drop in pressure. 2018 stats Mount had 137 TFL(includes playoffs) and 61 sacks (46 in regular season). To this point of the 2019 season they have 65 TFL and 21 sacks. The secondary has more picks (13 this year, 10 reg season 18'). But in 2018 (playoffs included) they had 81 breakups  and are at 34 breakups this year. In terms of scoring - the defense had 9 TDs last year (14 including playoffs) and 1 this year.

A 2nd round game against NCC is a bit of a worry given the lack of pressure (TFL's and sacks). Knock me if you want (how dare a Mount fan criticize the MOUNT!) - but the stats, while being like bikinis, back me up.

This comment aged very well, hats off to desert and Hs coach for seeing these faults early. Makes me wonder why the UMU coaching staff didn't have a different game plan for NCC.

I know it's still early, but I can see Wheaton and North Central in the championship game. That will probably give the NCAA fits since they're both in the CCIW.

UMHB has won every game but is not the same team as last year. And NCC - what a team.

Just my thoughts. What's yours?  ???  :o  :D

Unless you'rehead and shoulders above all potential oppenents, it's all about matchups.  While NCC gave Mount fits, I would suspect a team with a great D-line to give them fits too.  I'm also concerned with their approach with covering Hill one-on-one in the first half.  Against a better defense,  that approach leads to a deficit too big to recover from.  Similar to Cecil Shorts burning UWW twice to open the Stagg.  Those 2 quick TD's were the difference that day.

You have a much better in-depth knowledge than I. I'm trying to generate some comments while giving my own, not that informed, views. Bear with me!

And thanks, HScoach.   ;D

UMHB isn't the same . They are very young and have a lot of injuries, but the defense is as nasty as ever. Saturday's game will be a fun one to watch. if UWW gives Jase the passing game, expect a lot of balls down field. Jonelle is having a fantastic year, but my favorite to watch is Jaylan Jenkins.  The run game has been wanting all season, but Theriot can hammer the middle if UWW sells out to stop the passing game. Should be fun!
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

That game was on my mind the entire first half. Maybe it shows just how much confidence the NCC staff had in their offense, overcoming a couple scores wasn't a big deal for them.

I don't know exactly what NCC changed in the second half (can't see the whole field), but I think Mt had an opportunity to throw quick hitting crossing routes late in the game when DA was under pressure.

Appreciate your comments. I think you're right on. Nobody from Mount seems to want to comment, so yours are welcome.
Best to you and UWW! Go Warhawks! 🏈 🍺

Thorne mentioned a couple times the changes they made at half. On the podcast he said he told his DC "Just don't let #1 beat us". It looked to me like they played their usual man to man style but had a free safety cheat over the top of Justin Hill's side.

NCC's achilles heel will be a team that can pressure with 4 up front and has the WR's to beat them 1 on 1. That's what Wheaton did.

You always have good comments. I make it a point to read your posts.
Your remarks show what Mount should have done. - rush 4 and put pressure up front.
But as we say, there's always next year. Thanks.
(An all CCIW Stagg Bowl?) Why not! Good luck to both teams.  ;D

MHB definitely has the D-line part to cause issues.  And the rest of the defense too.  MHB is the one team that has made Mount look slow over the years.  The offensive ability of MHB is questionable.

Mount doesn't have the D-line talent to pressure with 4.  Hasn't all year.  Pressure was needed from the backers and safeties off the edge.

Of course you're right. I knew that but a semantic glitch got in the way. (See signature below).  😜

Where I was sitting, we all kept saying dump it to Petro! He was open just about every single time coming out of the back field. Sorry crossing routes were also open. The thing I can't believe it's that Mount gave up 59 points.... And still had chances to tie or win!

In my very unprofessional opinion, Mount needs to go back to 4 down linemen on defense. It won't hurt us against the OAC, but we'll need it vs quality opponents in the playoffs. I wish Williams would've pulled a Charles Diesuel (one of my all time favorite defensive players to watch) and switch to DE, but that doesn't matter now. Lots of positions open for next year and hopefully that breeds competition.

As for the rest of the tourney, I think UWW can get UMHB, but I don't think they will.
Wheaton will get St John's. Not enough defense by SJU.
Muhlenburg over Salisbury.
NCC over Del Valley.

As a mount fan, I would've rather played anyone other than UMHB, Wheaton or NCC. Just the way it played out this year. Hopefully they come back hungry and recruit/develop some Dlinemen this off season.

Now I'll start paying attention to the men's basketball team and wrestling. They've got some talent and are exciting to watch!

And I will be looking forward to women's lacrosse, although they don't start until February.
Also looking forward to men's lacrosse. What a great sport!
And, of course, baseball and softball.
I may even look forward to football season. But that's a given.
For all the many sports teams, Go Raiders!  ;D
