Question for Mount fans. You have your first open first Saturday of December in many, many years. How are you going to spend it? You may not get this again for a long time, so make the most of it!  8-)

You guys have the experience of not playing in the playoffs. How do you spend your time? We'll probably watch old UMU/JCU game films just to cheer us up!
But all seriousness side, have a very Merry Christmas. See you next year.   ;D

I have been trying to wash down this game by drowning myself in podcasts, highlights, and replays of Ohio State/Michigan and previews of Ohio State/Wisconsin.

Just read over on the CCIW board that NCC was the only team with 3 AFCA All-Americans this year... and they were all on offense. I still think this was a sub-par Mount Union defense (I put them in a similar category as 2013 or 2016), however NCC probably had more offensive talent than UMU has faced in quite a while, the 3 All-Americans is really impressive.

On a different note,  I thought it was interesting that the two strange problems that plagued Mount Union all year (missed PATs) and the ball slipping out of DA's hand on passes showed up in the NCC game, very unusual for such a well coached team to not be able to fix those issues at some point over the course of 12 games. Not really blaming anybody, just found it peculiar.

Not only do I agree with all your sentiments, but I will add the third that was roundly discussed and concerning to everyone: an average-at-best secondary and a lesser-than-Mount Union-average pass rush. We all knew that combination was going to get the Raiders burned at some point, but I don't think anyone thought it would be that bad.

Like others have mentioned, even for the other bugaboos you mentioned, the Raiders still put up 52 and 15 yards away from at least 58 (my honesty expectation for the end was actually that Mount would have gotten the TD but then missed the PAT). That Fulford slip did happen at the worst possible time, though. It was during that maybe 4-minute sequence that turned the game A-over-tea kettle.

My expectation was if they scored to go for 2 to end it right there.  Mount had shown no signs of stopping NCC and I wouldn't have like my odds in overtime.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Also fair. At that point, would NCC have expected Petro to get the ball on a draw or power (or, at all)?

Based on Two-Deep vs. NCC, here are the Graduating/Returning Offensive Players for Mount Union:

Starting Offense

Losing: Eight
LT Sherman, LG, Daniel, RG Todd, RT, Klaus, QB Fulford, WR Hill, WR Harvey, FB Fornaro

Returning: Five
C Presutti-JR, RB Petruccelli-JR, WR Ruby-SO, WR Reed-SO, TE Weygandt-SO

Total of 13 because they list Four WRs, a FB and a TE on their Two Deep

Backup Offense

Losing: Three
LT Bisono, LG Stika, RT, Sumner

Returning: Eight
C Valentine-SO, RG Penko-JR, QB Plunk-FR, RB Parker-FR, WR Lee-FR, WR Manley-JR, WR Kirchener-SO, Wr Mescher-SO

Mount is losing A LOT of experience on the OL, along with Fulford and Hill.

IMO, Plunk looked good this year at QB and they have quite a few WRs coming back with Petruccelli and Parker at RB.

I will admit it feels quite odd.  For the last 25 years I've used the D3 playoffs to file the void between the end of the Ohio State regular season and the bowl games.  This year, I'm going to spend my surprisingly free Saturdays in my wood shop.  I'm a little behind on my wife's to-do-list.

Hmmm, maybe she was calling the defense to ensure I was home?   ???

I would highly recommend doing something festive for the upcoming Holiday season! I know Cleveland has some Christmas goings on around town, so maybe a little day trip up north would be in order!

Merry Christmas to you as well!

IIRC Frazier Daniel was granted a medical redshirt for last years injury. Anyone know if he is returning?

I'll probably be flipping between all of the games that I can! I'm thinking all of the games should be pretty good or at least close.
