I'll probably be flipping between all of the games that I can! I'm thinking all of the games should be pretty good or at least close.

That's me.  Yes, I'm bummed MUC isn't in it, but I love D3 and I love this time of year.  If the temperature gets above 50, I'll be sealing my driveway.  Otherwise I'll be watching games and working on my family genealogy.  I think I'd like to see Wheaton take it all.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Now we get to be those "other fans" that cheer against the status quo.....aka, all of those people that cheer against Mount Union bc they've won a lot. I'm pulling for whoever comes out of the right side of the bracket or Wheaton.

Question for Mount fans. You have your first open first Saturday of December in many, many years. How are you going to spend it? You may not get this again for a long time, so make the most of it!  8-)

I'm on to hoops full time.  I'll be watching Mount hosting ONU at 2.  When that ends I'll watch the women since their game at ONU starts at 3.

There are the State High School Championships in Canton, at Benson Stadium, site of next year's Mount Union victory.

A lamentation

How weird. I sit here in my house, four blocks from campus, realizing I am not getting ready to go watch Mount Union play football. This just doesn't happen at this time of year. It's very cold (around 27 degrees). That's normal. The ground is full of fallen leaves - I'm used to that. I know it's playoff time, it just has that feel.

But I will not leave the house shortly, bundled up, lugging various pieces that say "Mount Union" or "Purple Raiders". I will not get to sit with the same crowd that I hav sat with for many years. No goose pimples when the band plays the fight song  and the team runs onto the field. There will be no cheering, no feelings of anxiety, no  wanting to see a Raider victory.

But, as a Dlll fan, I will watch other games.
How dare these games proceed without the "Mount" being involved. Who are these upstarts that would play during "our" time to shine?

I drove by the stadium this morning. A gloom hovered over it. Or perhaps it was a silent tribute to all those great Mount Union teams and all of the great players, who somehow, seem to still reside there.
I thought, at one point, I heard Coach Wable yelling at his team. Larry Kehres was directing his team, urging them on to victory.

But I remain in my living room, many memories running through my head, great victories and heart-wrenching losses.

But that is all past. Next year! Next year is coming into my thoughts. Perhaps things will be different. Maybe a year from now, the Raiders will still ll be studying game film, trying to juggle football practice and school work and wondering who they would play next.

I now relax with a new found calm. There will always be Mount Union and all it represents.
My alma mater of which I am very proud.

Go Raiders! 🏈 🎓

Dr.,
Just because your the loses on the playoffs, you abandon the remaining DIII football season? Thought you were a true die-hard DIII fb fan- I'm disappointed!🙂

MUC57,
Great memories and I can imagine how that feels-a little melancholy. You should publish a little book on your reminances. :)

I hadn't forgotten the meaning of December 7, 1941 - a date which shall live in infamy!
You and I are old enough to know of this first hand. It can never be forgotten.
Today I am wearing my "Air Force Veteran" hat as my own small tribute to all the brave men and women who fought in WWll and all those that died at Pearl Harbor!
We shall never forget! And yes, may God bless America. 🇺🇸

Thanks but you won't see me on the New York Times book list.
By the way, as long as I have you here, I'm looking for an orthopedic surgeon. Do you do house calls?
Didn't think so. (Just messin' with ya Doc.)
Take care and an early Merry Christmas.  ;D

I wouldn't say abandon.  It's just downgraded in priority.  I'm a Mount fan first so I might watch football if I have time, but come 2:00 it's Mount hoops.  The absence of Mount in the playoffs just changes things from planning my schedule around football to watching it if my schedule allows.

This can't be the North Central team we saw last week.

Del Valley has a much better dline than Mount, which is the key to beating NCC, like Wheaton proved.
I think it further shows this was just a sub-par UMU defense.

Well, the rest of the outside Christmas decorations are up.
