I said this elsewhere -- maybe the WIAC board -- Erdmann/Rutter or Rutter/Erdmann 1-2, Fulford definitely 3, and Zimbelman, Wyatt Smith and Germinerio are the candidates for the last spot.

That seems about right to me as well.

The NCAA also confirmed that @MountUnionFB's D'Angelo Fulford has broken the NCAA all time record that's stood for 25 years. Fulford finished with a passing efficiency of 230.4, previous record was Eureka's Mike Simpson in 1994 of 225.0.

Given Braxton Plunk's success, Mount Union must have also set the all-time TEAM record.

I can't believe that Plunk almost threw for 1,000 yards! That's some quality prep give for next year.

Also after watching many of the playoff games, it seems that Mount Union isn't as far from where they need to be. North Central has beaten some good teams soundly and I expect a good showing in the Stagg Bowl as well. I wouldn't say that Del Valley or Muhlenburg look better than Mount did. Like I said before, I would've rather played anyone other than NCC, UMHB, UWW or SJU that weekend.

The sky isn't falling and the defense and Oline will replace some talent, but the purple raiders will be back.

Pulling for NCC to win it all Friday!

Same. I want NCC to not only win but look soundly look like the better team. I am not sure that will happen, as the Warhawks are certainly cramming the Mount Union and Wheaton tapes so see what to do and what not to do, but I want the Raiders to be the only team that gave the Cardinals a game.

I also agree the Raiders will be back, but I need them to make the Stagg Bowl the next two years. I want Stark County to show that we can make this an event, which would be much easier if the Raiders are in it. I am planning on going, regardless, because for me (and likely many other Raider faithful), these will be the first Stagg Bowls they could attend.

Not a popular opinion but I would put Zimbelman ahead of the other two QBs this year. I know it sounds odd bc Aurora traditionally isn't strong but the year he has this year with out having the same caliber talent around him that SJU and NCC has gets him my vote.

Threw for 432 and 6tds and ran for 1 vs SJU in round 1. SJU had a top 5 defense and no one else this year came close to that vs SJU.

Threw for 497 yards, 7 tds vs Saint Norbert who was a top 5 defense in 2018. Played SNC in week one.

57 td's - 3614 passing yards  :o

Maybe. but Zimbelman had 2 outings against Benedictine (23-36 236 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT) and Concordia Wisc (18-30, 208 2 TD, 3 INT) that were not great. Erdman had one bad outing vs Concordia MN (is it the name?) but was dynamite in every other game, Fulford had one stinker in the rain, and Rutter's worst game of the year was 323 yds and 2 TD's on 27-45 vs Wheaton. He performed at the same level in every game. I think Pat has it right.

If Mount Union is one of the best two teams by all means I'd love to see them in the Stagg Bowl next year.  But as far as judging Canton as a host and the event aspect of this championship, I'd like to see them do it without the Mount Union crutch.  Canton is pretty readily accessible to a wide swath of Division III and I'm really curious to see, starting this Friday, how the Canton organizers are going to get people who might not have a strong rooting interest to go this game next December.

Totally agree.  If Canton CAN'T be a smash with UMU as a participant, they should try to cancel even the second year!  The test is if they can succeed without The Machine.  A northern location in late December IS problematic.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone will join in supporting NCC this Friday.  No offense intended to UMU, but this long reign of terror by the Purples needs to end!  Give other colors a freakin' turn ::)!  (Personally, I vote for a green turn. ;D)

The weather in Canton is not much different than what we see in Salem VA.  Typically a couple degrees colder but without the wind.

Most of D3 is within reasonable driving distance which would sure nice Friday night for UWW and NCC.

I think Canton will respond well with or without Mount.  Stark County is football crazy and used to events like this.  The only problem I see is the NCAA's decision to move it around eliminates the ability to build local following like Salem had.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I hope this turns out to be correct.  I think this was part of the Shenandoah narrative also- Texas loves some football and they'll come out and buy tickets and support the event.  I couldn't get a good sense of this last year as the host team was in the game.  We'll put Shenandoah on the spot on Friday though.

Wally, Canton does this for a living.  They are seasoned, excited, and will put on a show to take the Stagg to the next level.  They have the resources, the wherewithal, and desire to make this a great experience.  Instead of council meetings questioning what they are obligated to do, where the money is coming from, etc, the powers that be will plan on how to make it a truly awesome event for all involved.

I'm truly looking forward to next year in Canton, and, good Lord willing, will be there no matter who is playing.  Visit Stark, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Canton and Stark County officials will, I'm confident, combine their talants and experience to make the Stagg Bowl an outstanding event.  (If the NCAA and ESPN don't get in the way.)

No offense to our friends from Wiscosin, but GO NORTH CENTRAL!
