Pat,
You mentioned in a thread on the NCC championship article that the committee gets to decide to play the game on Friday night or Saturday morning. You said that Friday night is more preferable. Can you explain why? I think they would get more fans of they went back to a Saturday morning. It gives those teams who are traveling on a weeks notice (everyone) an extra day off travel. It also helps those who can't take a day off of work on short notice. I'm just interested in the reasoning and any insight you can give. Thanks

Btw I got some great Mount Union stuff for Christmas from the family and the MUCaw bobblehead! It looks great!

Made it through Christmas reasonably well. Now comes New Years.

Sure hope 2020 is a better year. This year was nothing to write home about.
In fact, 2019 sucked!
Our guys lost a game, and in the second round.
The president has been impeached.
Hong Kong is rioting.
North Korea is acting up.
Russia is still, well, Russia.
The Middle East is still a powder keg.
And, on a personal note, my eyes are a mess.

So, I look forward to 2020. Maybe we'll see some peace in the world. Perhaps we'll all get along. What if we even treated each other with respect and kindness."Make love, not war" wasn't really a bad slogan.

I'm probably the first to wish everyone "A Happy New Year".
For 2020, Go Everybody! 🎉 🎈🍾 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ ❗️
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Yes, I can expand on that. The committee (and all D-III sports committees in general) are focused on the student-athlete experience. It is definitely true that a Saturday morning game might get more people. However, 11 a.m. on Saturday morning is one thing if you are an East Coast team -- if you are a Central Time or a Pacific Time team, that's a different story.

It is true that the fan experience is somewhat diminished by this, and fans of qualifying teams have no shot at getting a 7-day advance fare and limiting the cost of flying and such, but the Division III philosophy is student-athlete experience trumps all.

There are almost certainly other things I am not aware of, but those are the factors I hear talked about.

Thank you for explaining what you know. We only hear one side. Attendance should be a little better with a more centralized location for most of D3. It still doesn't help UMHB or Linfield, but nothing will help their travel short of it being in their state.

MUC57,

Go easy on the homemade tuica this holiday season.  Don't want you having any more trouble with your eyes.

;)

???  :o

The eyes have not improved one bit but I can't stay away from the boards. It is a struggle! 🙁

Kevin Burke is still playing professional football. Kevin is QB for Osos Rivas in Madrid, Spain.

Best of luck Kevin.

Happy New Year to all!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

To everyone on every board.

And especially to Pat Coleman and his staff. You have given us another year in which we could: boast about how good our team was, talk about how lucky your team was, defend our team, bad-mouth your team, make numerous snide reamarks and complain about not being ranked higher in the final poll. Damn, life is good.

As I always say, especially for the new year, Go Everybody! 🎉 🎈 🍾  2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣0️⃣

Just some info I found that we can discuss in the off season. Logan Hansen does a nice job of running a computer model that I like to follow. Here is a list of 25 top teams.

I'm excited for next year already! I love when there's competition between teammates bc it usually brings out the best players. I just hope that the coaching staff is still here and they recruit well.

Btw the men's basketball team is on a roll and playing well after two early losses to average teams. They're sitting 8-2, 3-0 in the OAC.
The wrestling team is ranked 5/6 (different type of polls) with 4 guys ranked in the top 10 if their weight class. Coach Malave had the team in a great place it seems!
I always enjoy track as well and they should compete for the indoor OAC and national title.

Each Mt Union/NCC matchup has been a classic. So it tracks that we'd meet in the title game next season and it be a dud.

Is the Texas new Offensive Coordinator, Mike Yurchich, the same guy who started his career at Mount Union?

Is the Texas new Offensive Coordinator, Mike Yurchich, the same guy who started his career at Mount Union?

According to his bio, he is one and the same. It relates he was a three year starter at QB for DII California PA after transferring (a little different scenario than has been discussed the past couple of days on a couple of the other boards😁 i. e. DI or DII transfers to DIII.)

He has been a coordinator at several schools at the various levels (Edinboro, St. Francis, Shippensburg, Oklahoma State and just this concluded season as QB/Passing game coordinator at Ohio State, all as related in his bio- he was only at the later school for one season 2019.)

My question is...why would he leave Ohio State only after one year and go to Texas? Did he get a bigger contract raise? For me, I'd rather stay in the Big 10 than go to Texas, unless, of course, someone offered me a HUGE chunk of $ way over what I was making at my current school. Or perhaps it was the atmosphere between coaches at Ohio State? Anyone have any info?

Also, there sure have been a ton of coaching changes, including assistant coaches, at all levels in college football since the end of the regular season, but that happens every year. I just seem to sense it started a little earlier this year.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all you OAC posters.

I heard that Yurcich wasn't a fit with the staff and asked to look (just what I heard). Yurcich also wanted to call plays, which wouldn't happen with Ryan Day as head coach. I do think Texas offered more money, but I wouldn't want to be in that mess with Tom Herman... Unless I think Herman gets fired and I have a shot at the interim position, but that's a lot of guessing.
