Is the Texas new Offensive Coordinator, Mike Yurchich, the same guy who started his career at Mount Union?

According to his bio, he is one and the same. It relates he was a three year starter at QB for DII California PA after transferring (a little different scenario than has been discussed the past couple of days on a couple of the other boards😁 i. e. DI or DII transfers to DIII.)

He has been a coordinator at several schools at the various levels (Edinboro, St. Francis, Shippensburg, Oklahoma State and just this concluded season as QB/Passing game coordinator at Ohio State, all as related in his bio- he was only at the later school for one season 2019.)

My question is...why would he leave Ohio State only after one year and go to Texas? Did he get a bigger contract raise? For me, I'd rather stay in the Big 10 than go to Texas, unless, of course, someone offered me a HUGE chunk of $ way over what I was making at my current school. Or perhaps it was the atmosphere between coaches at Ohio State? Anyone have any info?

Also, there sure have been a ton of coaching changes, including assistant coaches, at all levels in college football since the end of the regular season, but that happens every year. I just seem to sense it started a little earlier this year.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all you OAC posters.

I heard that Yurcich wasn't a fit with the staff and asked to look (just what I heard). Yurcich also wanted to call plays, which wouldn't happen with Ryan Day as head coach. I do think Texas offered more money, but I wouldn't want to be in that mess with Tom Herman... Unless I think Herman gets fired and I have a shot at the interim position, but that's a lot of guessing.

Makes sense. Thanks for your thoughts/info. I also agree that I would not want to be in that Herman mess down at Texas, even though Texas played very well/looked good in the Alamo Bowl last night against a usually good Utah team that has a bad game.

Maybe Yuracich's play calling had something to do with the great showing by Texas.  That could solidify a job.

In addition to a big pay raise, he was also promoted to offensive coordinator.   Opposed to the co-coordinator position at OSU.   Kind of a no brainer if you ask me.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Dr. Acula

He was encouraged to look elsewhere.  His recruiting efforts were not in line with expectations.

Championship football without Mount Union, Alabama, and the New England Patriots. What a weird football season.

Getting rid of NE and Alabama is almost worth seeing  Mount lose.

North Dakota state still doing their thing at the FCS level though. Hoping JMU beats them this year

What is the "over/under" (loose and probably incorrect term that we use at work regarding, "what are the chances of...," so don't critique me for using it "wrong") on Miami of Ohio winning their bowl game tomorrow (14 point underdogs), resulting in Ohio State being the only Ohio D1 university to lose a bowl game this year?
Hard to imagine when Kent State played ... and WON.

NOTHING is worth seeing Mount lose. 😳

So thoughts on the idea of JCU Alum Josh McDaniels potentially being hired as the Browns new HC?

Darn NDSU won the FCS championship today. They now have 15 total championships across d2 and FCS. We could use a good UMU three peat to catchup!

Another great FCS Championship Game. Both great teams, although nothing against NDSU, I was rooting for James Madison since they have only won it one time and lost before and their having a first year HC. Yet, hat was a good win for NDSU's first year HC just as well. However, JMU made too many mistakes, not containing NDSU's frosh QB who is incredible. JMU also had their chances, but just couldn't convert. The missed FG was a slight factor, IMO, as it potentially could have been that extra incentive at the end of the game to get them "over the hump" and win it in the finishing seconda. But, it was not to be.
The NCAA has decided to keep the game in Frisco, TX at least to 2025. They should keep it there always as it is a great venue and with excellent crowds (essentially full) in a very nice stadium, even though it is a soccer stadium-that doesn't matter. Hats off to NDSU-a great team and their domination continues.

To be fair NDSU's coach was also a first year guy.
