I'm glad it's Dartt for many reasons, but from what I've heard, I think he handled the transition period (although short) extremely well and had the program in mind with his intentions. Here's to a new era of the program! I'm sure many things will stay the same, but I do hope he puts his own stamp on it too. Btw be careful how we abbreviate his initials...LK....VK...GD? We'll have to make sure we use it in the correct sentence. I'm still as excited as I ever am for the next Purple Raider football season! It's nice to have the president picked and a guy that gets it. All the people I've heard from liked him when he was at MUC.

This goes into the "who cares, it's not football" category.

Dr. Thomas Botzman, president of Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvana, has been named the 13th president of the University of Mount Union.

I saw the white smoke coming from Chapman Hall, so I knew we had a new leader.

So there. 🎓 ❗️

Congratulations to Coach Dartt, I'm glad the MT faithful are encouraged.
Serious question. Under the leadership of Coach Dartt, what do the MT faithful feel would meet your expectations for the team over the next 5 years?

Anything less then 4 stagg appearances and 2 titles would be disappointing to me personally

Agree,

emma17,

the bar will be always be high, but Coach Dartt will have alot to work with in the coming years.
Being a part of Mount Union these past years provides a great advantage and incentive. I  am very
excited about this new HC. :)

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Wishing Dartt 20 - 30 years of success.

And then a handoff to an LK grandchild.   ;D

Since Dartt is Larry's son-in-law and Vince's brother-in-law, does this mean his wins continue the family line?   :o
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

I think it will be interesting to see what direction the defense takes now that Vince is gone.  Different alignment?  More attacking?  I think it will be the most compelling story coming out of camp.

DA told me that Coach Dartt would sit down with him every week and say..."if they are in this defense THIS play will be a TD."  There would be four or five of those every week, and a high percentage of the time it would be true.

The offense will be dynamic, so let's get the defense back to a high level and the future is bright.

3 Staggs...1 or maybe 2 wins?  I mean come one!  Defend this land in the next two years.

Dartt has coached some really great UMU offenses, it definitely seemed less consistent and effective In 2017 and 2018 when he wasn't the OC. Those years were good offenses but just didn't seem as consistent as 2019 or 2015, 2014...

Yes very curious about the defense as well

My favorite adaptation that I saw Dartt make was in the playoffs in 20015 (probably my favorite offense to watch). He called for great formations with Nemeth and BJ Mitchell in the backfield with Taurice Scott and had defenses on their heels. I mean defenses like Wesley, Whitewater and St Thomas who all had great defenses that year.

I was thinking 4 OAC Titles and 1 National Title but . . . close enough.

It's theoretically possible I'm all mixed up here but . . . isn't that what was said when VK succeeded Don Montgomery?  More attacking?

. . . I'm pretty much convinced the 2019 early playoff exit wasn't a problem of defensive scheming.  Rather, it was a problem of:  A)  Lack of All-American talent on defense, and B) Playing the best team in the country in the second round.  North Central had a GREAT offensive line, a GREAT running back, a GREAT wide receiver and a GREAT quarterback.

(Also, for the second year in a row, Mount's QB didn't see a wide-open receiver on the left side of the field for a touchdown late in a Very Important Playoff game.)

(Dadgummit.)

Same, but how many Title game appearances? I am thinking 3, but that is just as much on the draw than the team itself: every loss in the past 10 years except 1 (tips cap to 2016 JCU) has been to the National Champion, whether it comes in the Stagg Bowl or not.

I definitely want to see the Raiders make both Stagg Bowls in Canton. 2 wins there would be amazing!

Edward, or Ed as I sometimes call you

Please keep in mind I don't have the in-depth knowledge some of you do. Having given that caveat, I shall continue.

Mount's early exit from the playoffs was, at least partially, due to the defensive plan. Playing the number 2 QB in the country does not call for only 3 down linemen and no pressure on the QB. Defensive plan wasn't a problem? Please! Give a QB as good as NCC's  was that much time and he'll find an open receiver. He could have read "War and Peace" while he looked for an open man.

For sure, other factors came into play, like, after 11 games, finally playing a standout team. Also, Mount's secondary seems to have trouble covering receivers, even if  8 guys are back. The stats bear this out.

Fulford certainly has the numbers to be called a terrific QB. No argument there. He does, however; tend to key in on # 1 (Hill). More than once he has  missed an open receiver because he wasn't, seemingly, looking for one. Various commentators, while broadcasting the games, have stated Fulford keeps his eye on Hill the entire play. I think we have all observed that.

Lack of All-American talent on defense? I know we had at least two. Did we need 11?.

I'm not only an alum but a huge fan. These are just some of my thoughts. As I said earlier, I don"t have a coaches knowledge of the game. I am, however; entitled to my opinion- right or wrong. Wait! My opinion can't be wrong. It's just MY opinion.

Looking forward to the 2020 season. Hope we make it to Canton. GO RAIDERS!
