I would add, it was a tough year for *everyone* outside of D-I FBS. Only nine non-FBS players were drafted and while I don't have numbers on how other divisions' players were affected in post-draft pickups, it's clear that players were hurt by not having the opportunity to work out for teams.

This was a brutal year for small college guys. With with very few pro days and team visits, all scouts had to go on was film. If you're a small college guy, there's just a glaring lack of data for them to fill in the gaps of your game performance against small college competition. For a lot of small college guys, what gets the scouts to even put on the film is strong testing numbers. Sheer volume of college Jr's/Sr's trying to get drafted means no one can watch all the film. If a small college skill guy runs a 4.3-4.4, scouts get intrigued and put on the film. Without those, I'm betting there was a drastic decrease in the amount of hours spent watching small college film by scouts. Add in the fact that a lot of FBS teams didn't get to hold pro days, and suddenly there are a lot of big schools kids that can only be evaluated via film. Tough trickle down for guys like Hill, Erdman, etc.

I wonder if he changed his mind after Nick Wright made his decision yesterday?  ::)

I saw this. I think we've mentioned this before, but I'd be surprised if more teams didn't try to poach these Mount "commits". Just tell them, "Look they've got 4 QBs coming in with you. Come here and be our next guy."

As you know. that just the nature of the recruiting game/process, even at DIII. :)

Hate to see Mount lose a potentially good player, but if it improves the level of competition in the conference the Raiders still benefit.

This is what I found so far from Twitter only on guys saying they will attend Mount Union next year. Remember, there is no such thing as committing to Mount Union because there is no binding financial agreement. Guys can still go somewhere else if they want. This is just a list to keep us junkies going until summer camp. So far I really like the mixture of local and out of state guys.

As some of the discussion here has been regarding recruiting/commitments, I thought I would share this with all of you (and especially since our MIAA board has been non-existent.)  I had the opportunity to talk with one of our administrators this past weekend and also a couple of our football coaches a couple of weeks ago.  They related that Hope has exceeded its admissions target for the upcoming  freshman class (over 800), which has been done for at least 10+ years.  As to football, there are 46 tentatively committed in this year's recruiting class, which includes 6 transfers, some from DII schools.  Of course, as we all know, these numbers are "tentative" because in DIII, such is not determined until the opening day of pre-season camp in August and, for that matter, this also applies to the general student enrollment.  Certainly, both will likely also be affected by this coronavirus crisis, the extent depending on how that all plays out over the next two months if it becomes stable and IF there is a football season at all this fall.  There are so many factors involved in that and as Pat and Keith pointed out in their recent excellent Podcast (as did their guests in those discussions), no one has the answers to any of this at present, although there are many potential scenarios being considered in how to deal with all these complex, intertwined issues.  What we all can agree on, which was mentioned, is that there will be a new normal.

As to the football numbers, this current situation brings many thoughts to mind.  It is certainly far different from the situation we saw in DIII even just 10 years ago when many schools (including Hope) were having anywhere from 120-150 incoming freshman players.  I remember way back in my own day when my recruiting class at Hope was 40 total and that was "big" back then.

I have also been told that, at least for now, Hope is planning on having students return on campus in August, although, contingency is obviously being made for continuing the current virtual online model as, most likely, all other colleges and universities are doing.  Last week, DII Grand Valley State University announced it was planning on having a hybrid plan which involved having on-campus students, but also students having the option of doing virtual on-line and/or a combination of both.  Certainly schools like Hope with large endowments and secure economic status at present will be able to initially manage this current disaster. However, as has been discussed on these boards by many as well as in Pat and Keith's Podcast, there are many schools that are already facing a financial crisis (and have been for several years due to the changing demographics and other factors of undergraduate college education) that are in danger of going out of existence.

The next 8 weeks (May to the end of June), of course, will provide some of the answers.  I am apprehensive as to what that will look like.

Drew Sims WR Fort Wayne, IN, Nice to see wr with some height. This looks (on paper at least) like a really good recruiting class. Should have lots of depth this season..

6'3", 210 is a big WR coming in as a freshman.  Like to see it.

Also, in looking for Drew Sims info I saw that 1st team All-District QB Drew Sims from Perrysburg is headed to Berg.  So note that too.   ;D

Watching the Mount/JCU game from 2002. I knew Pugh's numbers and I saw him in person, but I forgot how good he was at RB. Quick, tough, breaking tackles and even a couple of spin moves already and it's still there 1st half!

Hello, MUC57,
Sorry for the delayed reply, my friend. Thanks for the shout-out on the other board the other day. I/we are still doing fine. Hope you are as well. Stay the Course and Keep the Faith!
