Great to hear from long time OAC posters. A few comments after watching Mount against Westminster.
- BW is will be  a hard hitting game which it usually is. a spot of 32.5 per mr. mom may be too heavy since BW
has scored well in the first two games.

And after watching the game, I am glad that I was heavy.  So proud to see another OAC team give the Raiders a serious test.  They will need that, and they need the same from JCU.  Great game plan from Hilvert.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

A couple of thoughts. Mount looked...ok today. Not what is expected of Mount coming off a bye week. BW didnt look good- Mount just played pretty average.  The D needs discipline. Period. Keep your head down and play. Keep your mouth shut and play.  The talking and pushing and all of that is BW ball. Not Mount. Get your lead and shut them down. Talk later.

Petro looks slow or Parker is wicked quicker? Either way, Parker is my guy if I have a choice. Quick and decisive.  Right now Mount is a Quarterfinal team at best. Still not hounding the QB and still too reactionary in pass defense. Good news? This should be the biggest test. We will see with jcu next.

Just re-watched the Mount BW game. Ya know I get it that officiating is tough - and thankless. BUT - to today's crew: you guys suck. Correction - find officials that suck and have them replace the officials from today's game. The crew today brought a new definition to suck that makes all other previous definitions of suck equal to excellence. The fumble given to BW was so not recovered by BW and A) you knew it, and B) more than 1 of you knew it. 2 of you are in the picture - side judge with a good shot - field judge with a great shot. Mount was A) on it first B) came out with it and C) you can see it was never taken from them. Yet you gave it to BW. Crap call by a crap crew.

4th qtr - Malik Britt called for a hold on a WR that broke off his route on a ball 25 yards overthrown. THe QB threw to the endzone and the WR broke off to flat. Not a hold - not catchable - not even close to anyone wearing a uniform. So...of course! Holding - and instead of Mount ball, its a first down for the pile.

2 plays later - targeting? Really? Maybe a hit on defensless WR - MAYBE. But #4 (Mount) didn't leave feet, didn't lead with head, didn't make contact with his own helmet. And the crap of it is #4 is tossed because there is no replay for review in D3. Crap call by a crap crew. For D3 - since there is no review on targeting until playoff semifinals - there should not be an ejection. Call targeting - even if it is a crap call by a crap crew (like today) and have that player sit the remainder of series. But the game and the next one based on a non-reviewable call?

Oh and these are just the ones that stick out cause I literally just saw them. So to the crew from today's Mount game:

Referee/Head Linesman Chuck Sroka
Umpire Tony Moldovan
Line Judge Todd Pcionek
Back Judge Dan Kozma
Field Judge Cody Huth
Side Judge Tim Costello

Family and I are plugging along in Florida.

I changed schools (teaching and coaching) last January.  We've had a tough start to our season 0-3, but are playing my former team tomorrow, so hopefully can get off the snide.

Kids are now both in college (FGCU) and that campus is like a resort.  All dorms have singe bedrooms with suite dorms. They have a resort style pool and a beach on a private lake.  I don't think I'd get any work done if I went there.

Looking forward to MTU beating BW this Saturday.

.
I heard LK said Plunk is the best he saw in 25 years.

FYI LK sighting at Westminster in his usually hang out in the corners of the end zones.

However he did have a wood shed meeting with the DT who was ejected during the several friendly differences of opinions in the second half. ::)
Got it I would disagree on Plunks status, he gets all his stats on quick outs and misses wide open receivers down field. We should have won by at least 10 if not 14 more points yesterday. Not a Ballard or Borchert yet.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Happy JCU-UMU week! Not feeling confident on our chances but football is a strange game. Sorry MUC57, won't be making the trip out to Cleveland.

I watched the game and have to admit I thought they'd look sharper against BW.  I thought BW looked better than they have in quite a few years though.  Hilvert is a good coach.  Their RB is a nice player.  I thought their DB's did a solid job against Mount's WRs.

As for Mount, Plunk finished with good numbers, but was just off Saturday on his deep balls.  It did look like it was windy so maybe that had some impact on deep throws.  I believe I saw on twitter that is 6 straight 300 yd games for Plunk though which is impressive.  Ruby is going to put up huge numbers this year.  He's just really good.  And I like the physicality of the rest of that group.  Harvey, Manley, Gillard are not slight and they play like it.  Manley had a couple plays where he was just dragging DBs.  Parker definitely does look quicker than Petro toting the rock, but he's also almost 50 lbs lighter.

Defensively early on I was rolling my eyes thinking here we go again, but they settled in nicely.  Hill is a disruptor in the middle so they need him to keep his nose clean because they definitely need him out there.  I don't think BW has the overall skill position talent to challenge the D for 60 minutes so I can't get too excited, but they did their job and that was all that mattered this week.

Overall I think I'd probably agree with desertraider that this is quarterfinal level team today.  I'm not screaming that the sky is falling it's just more a comment based on the fact that I think NCC, Wheaton and UWW all look really, really good.  Add in UMHB who I am not sure of but assume is their usual self and that's a tall task to crack the top 4.  This team can definitely do it with Plunk at QB.  Just need to keep working.

you are 100% right.  The officiating kept BW in the game and also changed the momentum of the game.

the 1st qtr personal foul on Britt.. the play before, 1st and 10 on the Mount 44, a run into the middle... WR #1 gets mask to mask with Britt directly in front of the head linesman, 15-20 yards away from the play.  2nd and 8...BW #1 lines up in the slot, Britt lines up 10 yards or so off of the LOS...BW runs a QB option up the middle, no gain...BW #1 sprints towards Britt, probably 15 yards from the play, engages at the play is blown dead, Britt throws the small BW WR off....15 yard personal foul against Mount turns 3rd and 8 at the Mount 40 into 1st and 10 at the 25.  7-0 Mount turns into 7-7 and more and more time ran off the clock

the fumble recovery...Mount goes up 14-7, a few plays later a big hit causes a BW fumble which Mount jumps on first and also has the ball last.  One official points to Mount and one points to BW for some reason.  I get they are all pulling and fighting, but certainly seems like a gift to BW.  Had the officials not been terrible, Mount fires a couple shots to the end zone and likely goes up 21-7 (21-0 really)

BW didnt do anything to slow Mount down until the 3rd qtr.  BW is a top 35 type team, but the "woe is me stuff", "Plunk only dinks and dunks"  from Mount fans is too much.  Mount has handled two playoff caliber teams 48-7 and 31-7 and will probably handle another in the next week

It's way to early to mention our fine QB in the same breath with The Great Number 7, and The Great Jim Ballard, whose names are followed by a moment of grateful silence.
Their blastings of JCU; running up the score, pounding them, still warms my heart. I always smile when I recall Number7's game at JCU his junior year.  JCU started a fracas at the beginning of the game. The Mount Union linemen responded by stating they were going to "Kick Your Ass."  They did.  On the ground.  Old fashioned triple option.  JCU knew it was coming and couldn't stop it.
It was a great moment in sport.
Our fine QB will hopefully blow them out the next two years, bringing joy to old alumni like me who still hold a grudge, and becoming another super Mount Union QB.

RIP Jim Gresko.  Was an SOB for a little guy.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I watched the Mount game against BW and thought the same thing I always think when we play BW.  They come after us and take us just far enough out of our game that we dont put up normal numbers.  What I mean is, they talk and they push and push and they grab, etc... and they get under our skin just enough that we over throw, or miss a tackle or get a penalty.

That being said, I like the 1-2 punch of Petro and Parker.  I think they compliment each other perfectly.  They are both hard to bring down and I think both pretty explosive when they wanna be.

Also, Plunk has not quite earned any titles yet, but he has looked great at times.  Against BW he was off a bit.  Just missing in some cases.  I also think the play calling may have not been advantageous. They went to the same corner like 4 different times and overthrew almost the exact same way each time.

I think the O needs to run a bit more on first down, and do more stunts on the D line.

Ultimately, I like what I saw.  We did not play our best, but we hung in there.  We overcame some HORRIBLE calls from the ref...

I also watched some of the top teams, Wheaton/NC.  They looked good too, but lots of mistakes, missed tackles, poor play calls...I think everyone has some rust to shake off.

See ya after JCU... Go Raiders
