I'm not sure the reports of W & Ls punter being hurt were accurate, the guy punting today had a couple of nice kicks for sure.

Also, Mount looked really good, but I thought the pass defense... against the 5 passes W&L threw was a bit soft. That could have been because they'd been lulled to sleep by all the runs, but I was just surprised that W&L was able to make the 4 big pass completions they were able to.

He wasn't the punter. He was the place kicker filling in for the punter.

Ohhhh, well he did a nice job

He got a lot of practice anyway...

Washington and Lee had 22 kids scratched today because of injuries. Quite a few starters.

My biggest gripes from this game probably qualify as nit-picks, but they are going to matter later.

1. Short crossing routes on 3rd-and-short are fine, but run them at the sticks. Coverage is going to be tight, anyway, so at least the receiver does not have to worry about making any more yards after the catch. I know the idea is that they trust their guys to get that last extra yard, but we are at the point where the opposing linebackers have enough speed to make that last yard not a gimme.

2. Kudos to Petro for being the back-up punter, but my man needs a little work.

Otherwise, not a whole lot to complain about. Teams still do Mount a favor when they have to lean heavily on the run, and I am willing to write off the few passes that W&L got as just getting caught overcommitted to the run, especially given how well Mount's D stopped the run against a triple-option team.

You play the hand you are dealt. They came, they saw, they got stomped by a much better team. For a team that didn't play a down for 700 days, they won the ODAC.

It's Coach LeRose's first conference championship, and hopefully all the experience those second and third string guys got will pay off next year. Sad to see Josh Breece go out on the day he had, but just no holes to work with. He had a great career for the Generals.

Good job Purple Raiders. I won't say I look forward to the next time, but if it means ODAC hardware, then I'll be proud enough of the Generals!

Run heavy teams are in for a rough game bc Mount still skews toward the VK model of undersized/best athletes on the field.  They're so fast rallying to the ball on runs it makes it very difficult to run primarily.  They just attack so well sideline to sideline.  IMO their Achilles heel is still a gunslinger back there.

Johns Hopkins threw a ton of passes. And their defense had 5 sacks! Oops! Good game coming up Saturday! Go Raiiders!  :o  ;D
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

FWIW

Past record against Johns Hopkins:

            2012 UMU 55  JHU 13
            2016 UMU 28  JHU 21
            2018 UMU 28  JHU 20

Last couple of games have been really close. Should be a good game Saturday.
Time and time again, Mount has proven they're tough to run against. Let's hope they're tough against the pass cause Johns Hopkins likes to throw the ball.
Go Raiders! Beat the Blue Jays!  ;D

This is the "Skunk Family Weekend" playoff game.  Anyone know when the ticket site is live?  We have 18 for Saturday.  Unfortunately, Skunk himself has to work & won't be able to make it but I get to hang with the rest of his fam.  Pancho's at 10, and here's to a Mount victory!

Not sure what's up with the OAC site. But they listed this year's Ken Wable Award winner as Ken Wable.

Yikes.

Dr. Acula

I've mentioned this before, but I am going to grumble about it again...naming multiple kids All-OAC at the same position.  We have a pair of QB's on 1st team and a pair on 2nd team.  Add in the pair on HM and the majority of the OAC QB's are All-OAC.  That seems a little silly IMO.  I also don't enjoy the special award co-winners.  Now get off my lawn!   ;D

It's been nice to see some freshmen earning some playoff playing time late in games.  Another freshman that will be making an impact is Rossy Moore. He's being used situationally, but makes an impact anytime he's in the game.  I hope we can turn up the pressure on JHU's qb because we can't let them pick us apart like NCC did in 2019. The defense will certainly have a challenge on their hands.  Looking forward to Saturday.
