I know I am going against the narrative that NCC is darn near unbeatable. I know NCC is the favorite.  But I am a sucker for tradition and I probably overestimate the significance of pure will.  I just think the Raiders will be a team that absolutely refuses to lose to the same program two years in a row (2020 is dead to me) at home.  Truthfully, I'm not rooting for the Raiders. I know our guys want to be the ones that take NCC out. But I'm staying with my gut:

I don't think there is a narrative like that outside of a few folks on the boards. At least not anymore than the narrative you carry and project about UWW's destiny this year. I came on here this week to shed some light on a program I despise as a rival and most often hope they lose by 100 pts every week. I follow them closely and I respect them. I even have a few friends that are alums there.  My school has a better record against them than anyone in the country over the last 10 years and it's not particularly close. This year was the first time Jeff Thorne has beat Wheaton in his time as HC at NCC.

One factor today that hasn't been covered is that Mt Union HC Geoff Dartt spent 4 years coaching at Wheaton college along with current HC Jesse Scott. Those two worked closely and remain friends. I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse and Geoff didn't talk this week. LK and Mike Swider were also pretty close friends during their tenure and talked regularly.

As part of the running game for NCC I would fully expect to see QB Luke Lehnen become a big part of the gameplan today in ways Mt Union won't have seen. Could be an X factor. Of course The Raiders will also have a few tricks up their sleeve.

Gosh, I hope this is right.

My recollection of a couple years ago includes the following:

1)  I, and a number of other Mount Union fans, said that there was a lack of public knowledge as to what exactly the problem was but that based on that limited knowledge Mount Union looked small.

2)  On the other hand, if anybody on planet Earth deserved the benefit of the doubt it would be Larry Kehres, and Larry Kehres knew WAY more about the situation than was publicly available.  Many Mount fans emphasized this.

3)  As is fairly common in homo sapiens Larry Kehres likes good publicity better than he likes bad publicity.

4)  Frank Rossi admitted that he had a temper problem that he was attempting to control as he got older.

Well, that's my recollection; I imagine others have different recollections.

P.S.  Uh, I still don't know what actually happened.

I think you have the same take as a lot of us.  I think both sides made some mistakes that they would do somewhat differently if they had a chance(WHETHER THEY WILL ADMIT IT OR NOT) .  Mount may look small to some because of it but knowing LK the way I do I am sure he feels protecting the student athletes under his watch is more important.

And 4. is not really a staffer and I have no control over what Frank does, really.

Pat, that is the one claim that you have always made that I take exception with.  He on the boards, he does sideline for the Stagg, he is always a prognosticator in your columns.  I think you are trying to skate by on a technicality.  However, it is all water under the bridge from years ago.  NEXT!  Let's do this semifinal.
